Location
Koh Norea Riverside is a pedestrianized riverbank development in Phnom Penh's Meanchey district, about 8 kilometres southeast of the city centre. The site runs along the Mekong and features a mix of bars, restaurants, and open space where locals and visitors gather. It has become a venue for events, including the annual Water Festival, when long boats race on the river and crowds line the banks. The area is accessible most of the time, though visitors should check before arriving as sections are occasionally closed for private functions.
Visitors consistently praise the riverside setting and views, particularly at sunset, noting the clean, peaceful atmosphere for evening walks and relaxation. The bridge and flag lighting visible from here appeal to those seeking photo opportunities. Several reviewers highlight the informal social scene—local vendors sell snacks like quail eggs, peanuts and fruit—giving it a casual, community-oriented feel. One caveat: the space increasingly hosts private running events and corporate gatherings that can close off sections of the walkway on weekends, frustrating those wanting a routine workout or casual stroll. This is worth checking on before planning a visit.
The site is open around the clock, making it accessible for sunset visits or evening relaxation. It works well as a lunch or dinner destination combined with a riverside walk, or as a spot to catch festival events if you time it right. The location suits people wanting to experience how Phnom Penh's residents use public space rather than a structured tourist attraction, and those comfortable navigating a developing area with variable accessibility.

New development Jerry just outside North Van. Well not very far. Maybe one kilometer along the riverbank walkway is unbelievable pedestrianized area. Lots of bars and restaurants and yeah, probably a very good place to invest

Koh Norea Riverside, Meanchey district, Phnom Penh. About 8 km southeast of the city center, 20 minutes by tuk-tuk.
The annual Water Festival brings hundreds of long boats and their crews here, each team in matching uniforms, paddling in tight sync on the Mekong. The riverbank fills fast — crowds, snack vendors, noise. Standing at the edge, you feel the drumbeat before you see the boats coming.

Great vibe and a fantastic running location, if you happen to catch it on the one weekend a month it isn't entirely rented out. The rise of private running events here is impressive, but it’s getting a bit old arriving for a workout only to find the whole area closed off again. Please consider keeping at least a fraction of the path open for the public on weekends!

Perfect place to relax by the riverside. Super clean, peaceful, and the river view is so cool especially at sunset. Great for evening walks and chill time😊❤️❤️❤️

A very new picnic place for Cambodian people. Quite relaxing and nice view of the bridge lighting of Cambodia flag. Best time to go when sunset. Go pack your picnic mats and support the aunties selling quail eggs, peanuts and fruits.
