Kinin is a garden restaurant in a restored colonial building on Street 123, near Tuol Tompoung Market. Visitors enter what feels like a private jungle retreat—a leafy courtyard with vibrant greenery and cozy decor set into the busy streets of Phnom Penh. The menu blends Khmer and Western dishes, from spicy beef rice to pasta with caramelized pork belly and beer-battered tofu. The drinks menu includes cocktails like pomelo mojitos and Bloody Marys, plus local brews and kombucha.
Diners consistently praise the food as fresh and well-executed, the service as attentive, and the garden setting as a genuine escape from the city outside. The atmosphere draws particular mention—the music mix and overall vibe create what visitors describe as a soothing, date-worthy space. One diner noted that drinks occasionally miss the mark, and prices are genuinely modest (around ten dollars for a full meal with a drink). The restaurant does fill quickly, especially on weekends and holidays, so booking ahead is advisable if you want a preferred table.
The restaurant closes Mondays and opens from 11 AM on other days. It suits anyone seeking a calm, garden-set meal that doesn't sacrifice either Khmer authenticity or Western familiarity. The value—good food, careful service, and that particular sense of discovery—draws both couples and solo diners looking to pause in central Phnom Penh.

I ordered spicy beef rice wine and ginger kombucha. Food was 5* but ginger kombucha was like diluted ginger ale. But overall the vibe and service was very nice. $10 in total for food and drink plus a chill seat is such a deal. Found a cat staff behind the plant pot and he was also very polite 🤣Would come back next time.
Came back 2nd time for lunch, still great as ever.

A beautiful green oasis in Phnom Penh! This place is an absolute hidden gem. It’s located in a great, lively area but feels like a peaceful jungle once you step into their stunning, leafy garden courtyard. The food is fantastic and fresh! Highly recommended!

Nestled just a stone's throw from the bustling Tuol Tompoung Market, Kinin feels like a hidden garden escape. The restaurant is among the first in Phnom Penh to incorporate a nature-inspired, garden-style setup in its spaces. The restored colonial building is surrounded by vibrant greenery and cozy decor, creating a soothing vibe that’s perfect for a peaceful meal, unwinding after work, or a simple date with your loved ones. It is usually packed during the weekend or special holidays so please book ahead to get prime seating locations.
The menu is a delightful mix of Khmer and Western flavors. You definitely can't miss their Pasta Pastis, it’s one of my most dishes! Other favorites like Lok Lak and the Fish and Chips are equally delicious, plus there are plenty of vegan and vegetarian options that won’t disappoint. The friendly staff adds to the warm atmosphere, making every visit a ple

Loved this place when dining here last night with the hubby. I had the Pastis pasta with caramelized pork belly and it was delish. His steak was okay, the pomelo mojito cocktail very refreshing. The service was excellent, the vibe delightful in the garden setting. The alternative rock/ punk/ disco tunes they played were just “what the doctor prescribed”, hehe. If this sounds like sometime you would enjoy then definitely go and check out Kinin! 😜 🙏
