Soriyabori Villas Resort sits on Koh Trong, an island in the Mekong River reached by boat or ferry from Kratié. The accommodation is built in traditional Khmer style, with wooden bungalows set in large grounds among trees, alongside a swimming pool. It is a rural, quiet setting rather than a town-centre hotel, and the surroundings are green and open.
The resort suits travellers who want a calm, low-key base close to nature and are comfortable with rustic accommodation and an island location. The pool and grounds are the main areas for relaxing, and the property has a reception that can help arrange onward transport, including transfers to the ferry.
Guests should plan around the crossing: the ferry between Kratié and the island runs roughly every hour and a half, so arrivals, departures and day trips need to be timed to the schedule. Lighting around the property is limited after dark,...

Le quartier
The resort is on Koh Trong, an island in the Mekong River opposite Kratié, at address GX5V+H89, Kratié, Cambodia. Access is by boat or ferry from Kratié, with the ferry running about every 1.5 hours. The island is quiet and green, with local growers known for pomelo, which is sold cheaply nearby. Lighting on the island is sparse after dark.
Bon à savoir
Reaching the property requires a ferry or boat crossing from Kratié, so allow time for the roughly 1.5-hour service interval when planning arrival and departure. Reception can arrange onward travel, such as bus tickets and transfers, and the hotel driver can take guests to the ferry. Because paths and grounds have little lighting at night, a torch is useful.

The property is located on a beautiful island in the middle of the river, it can be difficult to reach since the ferry to and from only leaves every 1.5 hours. The housing on the property is authentic Cambodian, and that might not be everyones cup of tea. I enjoyed the vibe, but be prepared to share your space with critters. The property and the pool are lovely and relaxing. But be warned. The food is HORRIBLE. It’s extremely overpriced, and taste terrible.
We had made the reservation and payment two weeks in advance and on our arrival they could not find us.
At the end we have moved into a Bungalow which we have found quiet full of dust. We asked reception to organize a Taxi driver to take us to Mondulkiri. At the end we received the night before our departure a bus ticket for 7:20 am, where we had to take the Ferry at 6:30 am and a tuctuc will take us to the bus. The hotel driver took us to the Ferry and we arrived to Kratie in time, but there was no tuctuc waiting for us. In the end we made our way to the bus where we had to wait till 8:15am until a old Minibús took off. After a few stops and one hour the bus broke down and we had to wait another hour until a different minibus took over.
The staff of the resort does not speak at a good level of english. It is a beautiful Resort but a very neglected place
This place is set in beautiful grounds, has a large pool and rustic but potentially charming wooden rooms. But I would strongly discourage anyone staying here unless there is a rapid and complete change of management. When we visited (February 2025), the young staff were all utterly uninterested in providing even basic service (the contrast with every other place we've stayed in Cambodia and Laos was amazing), dinner was inedible, and the whole place unloved, dilapidating and dirty.
I love the environment here, very calm, peaceful and friendly local. The local here is specialty in Pomelo, it is very affordable and sweet I love it so much. The house is very khmer traditional, the surrounding area is pretty however at night it’s kinda creepy m sorry to say this, and the light is very little. I love it here, very peaceful.
🌿 My Stay at Soriyabori Villas Resort – A Magical Cambodian Retreat (5 stars)
From the moment I arrived at Soriyabori Villas Resort on Koh Trong island, I knew I was somewhere really special. It felt like I had stepped into a peaceful dream—completely removed from the rush of everyday life. I spent a few unforgettable days here, and I honestly didn’t want to leave. If you're looking for calm, authenticity, and nature—this is it.
🛶 Getting There
Getting to the island was already an adventure. After a quick boat ride from Kratié across the Mekong River, I was met with silence, trees, and sunshine. The island itself is quiet and traditional—no cars, just bikes, birds, and the occasional buffalo wandering past. It instantly put me in a slower, more mindful mood.
🏡 The Villas
I stayed in one of their traditional wooden Khmer villas, and wow—it was gorgeous. Completely made of dark wood, with high ceilings, beautiful decorations, and a view that looked out over tropical gardens. The whole place had this rustic, elegant charm. It’s not a luxury resort in the Western sense—no air-con, no big-screen TVs—but that’s what makes it so perfect. You’re immersed in nature, in peace, in something real.
Yes, the bed was on the firmer side and there was only a fan, but honestly? I didn’t care. I slept so well every night, listening to the sounds of the island—frogs, cicadas, distant music from temples in the morning. It felt like a retreat for the soul.
