Kep Melting Potes is a bed and breakfast in Krong Kaeb, Cambodia, run by owner Rémi with a small team including Chen and Cham. It sits within walking distance of the beach and close to the crab market, and the grounds are shaded by trees. Guests describe the decoration throughout as a deliberate part of the place rather than an afterthought.
The kitchen serves home-made food, with French tacos, poutine and breakfast tacos among the dishes guests mention most often. Communal areas are built around a pool table, and evenings tend to draw people together over pool, poker and conversation with other travellers. Staff know the surrounding area well and answer questions about it.
This suits travellers who want a sociable, low-key base in Kep rather than a formal hotel: people happy to eat where they sleep, meet other guests in shared spaces, and walk to the beach and market. Reports on the r...

The property is located in Krong Kaeb, Kep, Cambodia. The beach is a short walk away, and the crab market is also conveniently reached. Some guests found the property itself hard to locate on arrival and needed directions from locals. Staff are well informed about the surrounding area.
Good to know
Bottled water is charged for rather than provided free — two bottles came to three dollars for one set of guests, who considered this expensive. Food is prepared on site and home-made. The property can be difficult to find, so it is worth confirming directions before you arrive.
Kep Melting Potes is a wonderful place. The owner, Rémi, and the staff, Chen and Cham are amazing people and will make sure you have a beautiful stay there.
The rooms are nice and clean, the food is delicious and home-made (huge big up for the breakfast Tacos), and the vibe is just so chill and comfy.
As soon as you check-in there, you will feel at home!
Recommend 100%.
We did not have a good stay and we were glad when we left. The hotel was difficult to find and we had to ask a few locals for help. The rooms in the hotel are small and have no soul. The matrasses are terrible and the fitted sheet kept coming of during the night. The bathroom was very small as well. When we checked out we had to pay 3 dollars for two water bottles, which is insanely expensive, even for European standards. Normally hotels give free water and now we had to pay 3 dollars?! Felt like they were scamming us. Please do not waste your time and money on this place and go to a different hotel or hostel.
Awesome guest house in Kep. Relaxed welcoming vibe, Remi and the team were so great. Evenings spent playing pool and poker, meeting new people and trying the delicious French tacos - a must try!
We've stayed a couple of times now, and can't wait to stay again! Great location, just a short walk away from the beach and conveniently located for the crab market. Rooms are big and airy, and the whole hostel is beautifully decorated. You have to try the French tacos and the poutine, delicious! Super friendly staff, who are very knowledgeable about the area.
