Set right on the water in Kep, Magic Crab is a seafood restaurant built around the town's namesake ingredient, blue crab, served whole or worked into dishes like amok, stir-fries, spring rolls and fried rice. The owner, Sariem, runs the front of house and hand-painted much of the restaurant's decor, while his wife cooks; guests mention him personally showing diners how to eat the crab. The menu runs beyond crab too, with fish amok and cocktails, wine and passion fruit soda also mentioned by visitors.
Reviews are consistently positive and centre on the same points: the crab is fresh, tender and generously portioned, the amok crabmeat comes up repeatedly as a highlight and something several guests call the best they have had, and service is warm and attentive without being slow. More than one visitor notes the seafood tastes noticeably fresher here than elsewhere in Kep, and prices are described as fair for the quality and quantity. The setting by the sea, especially at sunset, is called out often enough to be a genuine draw rather than an afterthought.
Magic Crab suits travellers who want a straightforward, unfussy seafood meal rather than an elaborately plated one, and it works equally well for a relaxed lunch or a sunset dinner given the water-facing tables. It is open daily from noon until 10:30pm, so there is flexibility on timing. Reviewers suggest ordering the whole crab and the crab amok specifically, and tipping is mentioned as appreciated given how hard the small team works. Worth going with an appetite for crab rather than a broad seafood sampler, since that is clearly the kitchen's strength.

Right on the ocean (literally), this place is a must visit. The service is excellent, with the owner himself taking the time to show us how to eat the crab properly. The restaurant is lovely, with hand painted decor (again by the owner). You can tell he takes a lot of pride in his restaurant. The food was quick to arrive and delicious! The crab tasted so fresh, tender and flavourful. So happy we came!

Absolutely incredible experience! I had the Amok Crabmeat and it was honestly one of the best dishes I’ve had in Cambodia. The flavors were perfectly balanced — creamy coconut, fresh crab, and a beautifully mild curry that just melts in your mouth.
You can really taste how fresh the seafood is here, which makes a huge difference. Everything was on point.
What made it even better was the setting — I came during sunset and the view was absolutely stunning. Watching the sun go down over the sea while enjoying such an amazing meal made it a perfect experience.
If you’re in Kep, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended!

Great, simple place on the water. Food was good. We ate at a few places - much the same - good quality seafood not too tricked up. Had excellent fresh crab spring rolls, stir fried crab (meat only, I was being lazy) and crab fried rice. Cocktails and wine. Nice!

We had a delicious lunch here today seated right next to the sea. Our food was great. I had fish amok and my husband had black pepper crab. The passion fruit soda was excellent too on a very hot day. The owner Sariem was very friendly and helped with recommendations and his wife is the chef. Beautiful location and fabulous food.

Excellent whole crabs- meaty and big. We ordered 2 plates of crab ( they were that good!!!), for 2 people plus veggies.
Staff is very sweet. Fair prices and decent portions. Owner works hard, all the time. He has never been to Phnom Pehn even . Cambodian work hard for their money and cannot take holidays. Remember to tip. Best crab amok I have ever had. Definitely order it! It is their specialty!
