About Heng Heng 2 Guesthouse

Heng Heng 2 Guesthouse is a budget guesthouse on Preah Soramarith Quay in Kratié, Cambodia, set in an older tenement building with large rooms and wooden furnishings. Rooms come with fans or air conditioning, and bathrooms have hot water showers. Each floor has a balcony looking out over the Mekong, though the balconies are not furnished with seating.

The facilities are dated and the building shows its age, but the basics work: rooms are spacious, fans are powerful, and reviewers report clean bedding and towels. Not every room has a river view, so guests wanting one should confirm at the time of booking. Rooms without air conditioning can get hot.

The guesthouse sits in Kratie's main market area, close to the Capitol bus station and near the pier for boats to the island, with food options nearby. The owners speak some English and help arrange bus tickets and transport, though guests ha...

We were moved here after booking at Silver Dolphin and it felt like an upgrade. Our room was large with effective fans. The bathroom was decent with a hot water shower. Location is excellent with a balcony on each floor overlooking the Mekong. You can book transport through them, however, our experience wasn’t great with a slightly crazy minivan ride. Overall, a good budget stay.

Amidst the sleepy town of Kratie, Heng Heng 2 is one of the most walkable in the main market area- just a stone's throw from Capitol bus station. My single-bed room with a fan is only 7.50 $ (30000R). The facilities look quite old- like those of 90s guest houses. However, everything works well (the bathroom has hot water!) except the TV, but it's not really a necessity for our generation. After all, the intricate style of the wooden bedhead is definitely our best impression of the entire room (Good for Asian families) The owner, a middle-aged Chinese-look man, is kinda helpful because he allowed me to pre-check the room and even told me not to rush to go back downstairs to pay although payment is required during the check-in.

Nice price value. We booked two nights for $28 in total for two adults in an air-conditioned room (which worked really well) The family was helpful and friendly. The owners spoke some English which is nice. They can book your bus tickets for you, but be prepared that the bus company isn't helpful at all! The guy stood on our bags while there was breakable stuff in there. He was really rude and was only shouting in his own language.

We booked a river view room, however when we arrived none of these rooms were available. The owner said the booking description says only some rooms have a view, which is untrue. We ended up in a room at the back of the hotel overlooking a wall, which wasn't what we booked or paid for Rooms are far too hot without AC and quite dusty. The price is very cheap however, so you get what you pay for.

A spacious post-colonial tenement house with beautiful interior decoration and large rooms. Somehow run down now but still holding its charm. Balconies available albeit not populated (no chair even!). Clean rooms - bedding and towels smelled of laundry. Powerful fans. The owner spoke acceptable English but had another person on the phone whom he called in case of misunderstandings. Very well-meaning and helpful. Good location just near pier for the boats to the island and good food options. Great value for $7.

Cafés & bakeries 82.3 km 4.5/5 on Google

The Shade Cafe & Car Wash is 82.3 km west of Heng Heng 2 Guesthouse — a short ride rather than a walk.

The Shade Cafe & Car Wash sits in Chamkar Leu District in Kratie, combining a small café operation with a car wash service. Inside, visitors find a modern, air-conditioned space with comfortable seating and a distinctive hut at the back furnished with hammocks. The drink menu centers on coffee and tea, with lattes appearing frequently in visitor accounts. The café also stocks a limited selection of packaged food items, though fresh pastries are sparse.

Visitors consistently praise the coffee quality and the welcoming demeanor of the staff, who have been noted for accommodating requests like providing wifi access. The modern interior and photo-friendly aesthetic draw positive mention, as do the reasonable prices—one visitor recorded a coffee at 6,500 Cambodian Riel. The hammock seating area appeals to those seeking a more relaxed setting. The main reservation most reviewers raise is the lack of fresh baked goods; several note that pastry options are minimal or appear stale, which disappointed those hoping for snacks to accompany their drink.

The café opens daily from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, making it viable for morning coffee or an afternoon break. It works well as a pit stop for travelers passing through the region, or for locals seeking a modern café space with sturdy tables suitable for working or meeting. Those primarily seeking substantial food should eat elsewhere, but it serves adequately as a drinks stop with basic packaged options.
