About Green Empire Resort

Green Empire Resort is a family-owned hotel in Siem Reap offering traditional rooms and bungalows set around an outdoor pool. Located in a quiet area outside the city center, it provides a peaceful base for visiting Angkor Wat, just a 10-minute scooter ride away. The resort includes breakfast, free Wi-Fi, and a free airport shuttle. It suits travelers seeking relaxation and serenity rather than proximity to Siem Reap's central entertainment.

The small, intimate property features spacious rooms, a well-maintained pool, and a responsive family-run team offering practical support—laundry service, food delivery assistance, bike rentals, and local advice. A fridge and air conditioning are standard in rooms.

  • Outdoor pool with peaceful setting
  • 10 minutes from Angkor Wat
  • Free airport shuttle and breakfast
  • Bike rentals available at resort
  • Family-owned with attentive service
  • Free Wi-Fi throughout

The area

The resort is located in Veal Village, Koukchork Commune, in the Krong Siem Reap area of Cambodia. It sits outside the city center in a quiet zone, away from central Siem Reap's activity, but is very close to Angkor Wat temples. A short scooter or tuk-tuk ride connects you to Pub Street and other central amenities.

Good to know

The resort offers a free airport shuttle for guest arrivals. Laundry service is available at a reasonable per-kilogram rate. Food options are limited immediately around the property; guests can order delivery via apps like Grab or arrange meals through the hotel. The quieter location means you'll need to arrange transport via motorbike, scooter, or delivery services for dining and activities.

Loved our stay here, the father and daughter are super friendly and helpful. The pool is beautiful and relaxing. It is a little away from town, but quiet, so you need to order a motorbike or scooter or order food to be delivered. However, it was great to sleep peacefully no noise and only a 10 min scooter ride to Angkor Wat. Can't wait to come back! They are organised, offer many facilities and advise on what to do and are very responsive to the needs of their guests. Highly recommend to those wanting to relax and enjoy serenity.

We had a wonderful time here. The hotel is small, with only a few cottages, so the pool was entirely at our disposal. The owner is very attentive; he constantly cleaned the pool and helped with all our questions. There was also a very kind and helpful young lady. There’s a small shop nearby with a limited selection. The hotel is very close to Angkor Wat, making it convenient to visit the temples. Highly recommend!

I highly recommend Green Empire Resort if you want to be close to Angkor, but not to the city center. We did the Petit and Grand circuit with bike and it took us 3 days in a relaxed way. The manager and his daughter were very kind. We rented the bikes at the resort, which were very helpful. If you need, they wash your clothes there for a reasonable price per Kg. We ordered food with the app Grab, because there was not many places around to eat, but it was very good, fast and cheap. The pool was a nice plus after walking and biking the whole in Angkor.

Perfect location for visiting Anchor Wat, especially if you might want a midday pool break from the temples (yes, you will). Gorgeous rooms and pool, beautiful well kept grounds and helpful family service if you want laundry, food, or transportation support. Worked with us when we made a booking error and later when we wanted to extend our stay. They have two adult bikes, or you're close to a couple bike rental places. Food nearby, easy to have delivered, or you're a short tuktuk ride to Pub Street. Fridge and A/C worked well. We'll tell our friends to come here for sure.

We finished a cruise in Singapore and decided to explore Cambodia for a week after the cruise. We looked into various hotels, inclusive of this one based on reviews and photos - typical of most. Our apprehension with this one was the distance from the “action”. We wanted to be close but not too close. Well, we nailed it. Arrived on a Saturday night after the report had arranged for transportation from airport to the resort. It was actually Liza who supported our check in, more on her shortly. Check in was seamless and smooth. The family of six, theee couples had individual suites all around the pool. The rooms were very clean, beds ready. We placed bags in and looked to go out somewhere to eat. Liza suggested a couple places and we decided to Grab it and have it delivered. So glad we did as we were tired. Next day we met Nad, owner of the resort more formally who is extremely nice. We had a museum day adventure established for that day. Our apprehension on location was for naught. We used vehicles transportation first not really being familiar. With Tik tuk and then we ventured into the Tik tuk for transportation. Extremely fun, safe and very inexpensive. The whole of Siem Reap is a vacationers paradise and this hidden gem is beautiful for business persons, quiet, private and yea, full speed internet. Our family was very supported as a family. Used Tik tuk for transportation into the hub for $3 CDN. Final words on this resort. Had our laundry done as we are now at da

VIMEAN SOKHA MUSEUM

Museums & galleries 1.3 km 16 min walk 4.8/5 on Google

VIMEAN SOKHA MUSEUM is 1.3 km south-east of Green Empire Resort — about 16 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “museums & galleries”.

The next two places under “museums & galleries” from Green Empire Resort are The Cocoon House - Art Gallery, Concept Store, Fashion Vintage and Skate Shop - by Cocoon Limited (2.1 km) and The River Gallery (3.7 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Vimean Sokha Museum is a privately assembled collection in Siem Reap, built up over some two decades by its owner, known to visitors as Mr. Ly (also referred to as Mr. Lee). Rather than a formal institutional display, it is a personal trove of vintage motorcycles, clocks, cars, vinyl records, cameras, lamps, audio equipment and currency, arranged across a curated space, with a workshop on site where the owner demonstrates his own craftsmanship.

Visitors consistently describe the collection itself as exceptional, calling it one of the richest gatherings of antiques and vintage objects they have seen in Siem Reap, or in Cambodia generally. What stands out most in reviews is the personal guiding: the owner and, at times, his teenage daughter walk guests through the exhibits with evident passion and knowledge, and are happy to take photos for visitors. The recurring caveat is a lack of written explanation for the pieces on display, several reviewers noting that captions and descriptions are minimal and that the experience would benefit from more context or an interactive element, though the guided walk-through largely compensates for this. One small detail mentioned repeatedly: the family enjoys receiving foreign currency notes as donations to add to their collection.

The museum is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., which makes it easy to combine with a visit to the nearby Apopo Centre, as one review suggests. Because much of the value comes from the personal tour, it suits travellers who enjoy an unscripted, conversational visit rather than a self-guided museum experience with wall text. Anyone drawn to vintage mechanics, old cameras, clocks or curios, and who appreciates hearing the story directly from the collector, is likely to find it worthwhile.

The Cocoon House - Art Gallery, Concept Store, Fashion Vintage and Skate Shop - by Cocoon Limited

Museums & galleries 2.1 km 26 min walk 4.9/5 on Google

The Cocoon House - Art Gallery, Concept Store, Fashion Vintage and Skate Shop - by Cocoon Limited is 2.1 km south-east of Green Empire Resort — about 26 minutes on foot. It is among the three closest places to the hotel under “museums & galleries”.

The next two places under “museums & galleries” from Green Empire Resort are VIMEAN SOKHA MUSEUM (1.3 km) and The River Gallery (3.7 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Set inside an old colonial mansion on Sivatha Road, this Siem Reap space mixes an art gallery, a concept store, a vintage fashion corner, and a skate shop under one roof. Visitors find contemporary artwork alongside Asian and European antiques, film photography, own-brand clothing, and skateboarding gear, with pieces ranging from affordable finds to higher-value collectibles.

Guests consistently describe the atmosphere as unusual and inviting, crediting the family behind it, a mother and son, for making the visit personal rather than transactional. Several reviewers mention staff by name, noting they take time to explain the history of the collection and the story behind the shop, and even offer tips on where to eat or find good coffee nearby. More than one visitor calls it the best skate shop they have encountered, and the vintage and antique pieces get particular praise for being well curated and, in some cases, surprisingly reasonably priced. No real criticisms surface in the reviews.

The house is closed on Tuesdays, and on other days it operates in two blocks, roughly mid-morning to early afternoon and then again from early afternoon into the evening, so it is worth timing a visit around that split. It suits travellers who enjoy browsing rather than a quick in-and-out stop, since much of the appeal comes from the stories attached to individual pieces and from the chance to talk with the people running it. It works equally well for someone hunting a vintage watch, a piece of art, or simply a skate shop with more personality than stock.

Parks & nature 2.3 km 28 min walk 4.4/5 on Google

Cambodian-Vietnamese War Memorial is 2.3 km south-east of Green Empire Resort — about 28 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “parks & nature”.

The next two places under “parks & nature” from Green Empire Resort are Flying Foxes (3.4 km) and Royal Independence Gardens (3.5 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

The Cambodian-Vietnamese War Memorial is a small park situated on one of Siem Reap's main roads, dedicated to remembering the historical cooperation and conflicts between the two nations. The site centres on a stone monument with distinctive architectural detail. There is no admission charge, and the space remains open around the clock.

Visitors consistently describe the memorial as a peaceful and quiet spot, even in the midst of the busy city surroundings. The stonework and architectural design draw repeated mention, with several noting that it rewards even a brief stop. Most who visit appreciate the free access and the respectful atmosphere, though some acknowledge there is relatively little to see and do beyond spending five to ten minutes observing the monument itself. The area has local vendors nearby selling food and drinks.

The memorial works best as a short pause during a day spent exploring Siem Reap's other attractions rather than as a destination in itself. Its central location makes it accessible to hotel guests staying nearby. Those interested in Cambodia's recent history may want to combine a visit here with nearby museums; visitors have noted it pairs well with more extensive historical sites in the area. There is no best time to visit given the round-the-clock access, though early morning or evening might offer a quieter experience.

Sport & fitness 2.3 km 28 min walk 5.0/5 on Google

Aum Yoga Center, Siem Reap, Cambodia is 2.3 km south-east of Green Empire Resort — about 28 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “sport & fitness”.

The other place under “sport & fitness” within reach of Green Empire Resort is MR.LY Gym and Boxing (4.6 km).

Aum Yoga Center sits on the grounds of Angkor Grace in Siem Reap and offers a full studio setup rather than a single yoga room: showers, lockers, a bathroom, drinking water, books and sofas for lingering before or after class. The schedule runs across styles — Hatha, Vinyasa, aerial yoga, aqua yoga and sound-focused sessions that use crystal bowls, chanting or a teacher's voice during shavasana, sometimes from hammocks. The space itself is designed around greenery and natural materials, giving it a calmer, more resort-like feel than a typical studio.

Visitors consistently single out two things: the cleanliness of the facility, down to guests noting their feet stay clean after barefoot practice, and the quality of the teachers, described repeatedly as professional, attentive and patient with beginners. The aerial yoga class comes up often, with newcomers saying the instructors make the inversions feel manageable rather than intimidating. Several guests who took daily morning classes during their stay describe the routine as genuinely energizing, and one mentions considering relocating to Siem Reap partly because of the center. No complaints or caveats surface in the reviews gathered here.

It is open daily from 7:30 in the morning to 7 in the evening, which allows for an early class before sightseeing or a later one to unwind. Given the range of styles offered, it suits both regular practitioners looking to keep a routine going while travelling and first-timers curious about aerial or aqua yoga in a low-pressure setting. Reviewers who attended multiple sessions in a single week suggest it rewards repeat visits rather than a single drop-in, so travellers with a few days in Siem Reap are likely to get the most out of it.

Fair Trade Village is 3.0 km south-east of Green Empire Resort — a short ride rather than a walk. It is the closest place to the hotel under “sights”.

The next two places under “sights” from Green Empire Resort are Northern Library (3.0 km) and Royal Residence (3.6 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Fair Trade Village is a handicraft marketplace in Trang Village, positioned between central Siem Reap and the Angkor archaeological park ticket office. The site displays and sells handmade Cambodian goods across a wide range of categories: hand-woven textiles including kromas, bronze statues, jewellery made from seeds and clay, traditional dancing masks, bamboo items, and paintings created using a traditional palm leaf burning technique. Visitors can walk through the space and observe artisans at work, though accounts of actual production vary.

Visitor responses are mixed. Several travellers praise the variety and quality of craftsmanship, particularly the textile collection, and note that staff are friendly and non-pressuring. However, others describe the site as a tourist-oriented setup where prices run higher than comparable items at local markets, and question whether active production takes place or is performed for visitors. Some find the atmosphere underwhelming and the merchandise dusty or neglected-looking, suggesting limited footfall. The experience appears to depend heavily on expectations: those seeking curated Cambodian handicrafts in one location generally report satisfaction, while those seeking authentic artisan work or competitive pricing often leave disappointed.

The village operates daily from 9am to 6pm. It works best as a morning stop en route to Angkor rather than a dedicated destination, particularly if you are already travelling that direction. The setting suits travellers with specific interest in Cambodian textiles or handicrafts who prefer browsing without haggling, though independent travellers and those on tight budgets may find better value exploring markets closer to the city centre.

The next two places under “sights” from Green Empire Resort are Fair Trade Village (3.0 km) and Royal Residence (3.6 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Northern Library is a restored Angkorian structure located within the Angkor Wat archaeological park in Siem Reap. Dating to the second half of the 10th century in the Banteay Srei style, the building was reconstructed by Japanese conservation experts. The library faces west towards the main entrance and remains an accessible part of the temple grounds, allowing visitors to walk through and examine its architecture up close.

Visitors consistently note the library's value as a quieter alternative to the main temple structures. Several mention using it as shelter during rain and appreciating the chance to observe monastic activity within the building. The site draws photographers, particularly during certain months between October and March when the structure aligns with sunrise views over Angkor Wat, though visitors warn that crowd-chasing for these shots may not require entering the temple itself. The location near small food stalls adds practical convenience to a visit.

The library is open daily from 5:00 AM to 5:30 PM, accessible as part of any Angkor Wat exploration. It suits visitors who want to move beyond the main temple crowds and understand the broader architectural heritage of the complex. Most find it worthwhile as a secondary stop rather than a destination in itself, particularly for those with multiple visits to Angkor Wat already completed.

Parks & nature 3.4 km 4.7/5 on Google

Flying Foxes is 3.4 km south-east of Green Empire Resort — a short ride rather than a walk. It is among the three closest places to the hotel under “parks & nature”.

The next two places under “parks & nature” from Green Empire Resort are Cambodian-Vietnamese War Memorial (2.3 km) and Royal Independence Gardens (3.5 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Flying Foxes is a bat colony in central Siem Reap that roosts in trees within an urban park. These are large bats, comparable in size to small cats, with wingspans that make them distinctive when airborne. The colony remains active throughout the day, though visitors report they are most animated at sunrise and sunset. The site is free to visit and accessible at any time, sitting amid everyday city life—near a temple, vendors, and open to foot traffic and local residents using the space for exercise or recreation.

Visitors consistently emphasize the experience as remarkable and worth multiple visits. Many note the surreal coexistence of the bats with human activity: people playing badminton or doing morning exercises in close proximity while the bats go about their routines undisturbed by noise, music, or crowds. The colony is reliable—reviewers mention returning night after night across visits spanning days or weeks. Some visitors bring drinks and settle in to watch. One caveat: the surrounding area can be loud, with temple drumming and amplified music from nearby venues, though this apparently does not deter the bats. Weather can be unpredictable, and heavy rain sometimes forces early departures.

Sunrise is the optimal time to visit, when the bats are most active and the air is cooler. The site requires no tickets or advance booking. Bring a camera if you wish to photograph them, though their erratic flight patterns make still photography challenging—video may be more practical. The location suits anyone interested in wildlife behavior and natural history, and the free access makes it a low-commitment addition to a Siem Reap itinerary. Plan for the noise and crowds around the site, which are part of the urban context where these bats have chosen to live.

The cinema shows films in original versions with subtitles across 2D, 3D, and VIP screening rooms. Regular tickets cost around $3.50, with premium VIP options available at higher prices. Online ticketing is straightforward and accepts credit card payment without requiring account registration.

Guests consistently praise the comfort of the seats and the quality of the sound system. The air conditioning is noted as effective, and the cinema stays cool even during afternoon screenings.
