This was a lovely boutique hotel with excellent service. Everything is well thought out and the staff are super attentive and keen to help. It’s rare to have such dedicated staff team! Our room was nice and the hotel room grounds is well kept and well designed. The meals were pretty great too. Breakfast is slightly limited but the food that is available was nice, again made better by the excellent staff. Dinner and show was well done and the food was great! The location is slightly out the way, whether that’s good or bad is just up to each persons preference.

From the moment we stepped inside this hotel - we felt relaxed - it is indeed a Retreat. The staff are all amazing - without exception - every time we saw a staff member they were engaging and genuinely interested in how we were. The rooms are large and the bath and basin were filled with fresh flowers on arrival. I’m not normally a bath person but I couldn’t resist jumping in after 28hrs travel and the inviting florals! Our balcony caught the afternoon sun which we love - and many an afternoon was spent relaxing there with a quiet drink - or two. The pool is the perfect temperature- quiet and surrounded by greenery. Poolside service for drinks and food are available which we took advantage of. Breakfast is fresh and a few of the dishes change every day so after 8 days we never tired of the same dishes. Again - amazing, attentive staff! This is our first trip to Siem Reap - we will return and would not hesitate to stay here next time. We travel every year and this hotel is exemplary in our opinion. Thank you to everyone at Golden Temple Retreat - we appreciate you making our stay in Siem Reap one of our greatest memories 💚

We spent 5 fantastic nights at this property, and the service was exceptional from start to finish. The front desk staff were incredibly welcoming—always ready with refreshing cold towels whenever we returned from a long day out. The breakfast team was equally amazing, effortlessly accommodating all of our dietary requests. A special shout-out to Sreykia, who remembered our exact preferences from the second day on and truly made us feel at home. The breakfast spread was generous, the rooms were huge with extremely comfortable beds, and everything was in perfect working order. We also loved the swimming pool, which was pristine and super relaxing. All in all, a flawless stay. We couldn't recommend this hotel more—thank you for such a lovely and memorable experience!

Nice and clean rooms, very friendly and attentive staff. Quite good location, near the center but spared by the party noise. After a little bit rough start especially for vegetarian food, the whole team including the management acted very fast to improve the service. Shout out to the Manager Ms. Joe and Mr. Tong the kitchen Manager for taking my feedback seriously and acting swiftly! Looking forward to staying here again.

The Golden Temple is an amazing hotel that has made our trip truly memorable. Siem Reap and the Angkor temples are such beautiful places to visit, and staying here has made the experience even more special. Everything about the hotel is wonderful—the rooms, the pool, and the food are all excellent. However, what truly makes this hotel exceptional is the staff. I have never encountered such lovely, friendly, and genuinely helpful people. They are a real credit to the hotel and make the whole experience unforgettable. In particular, I would like to thank Mr Wanak, Mr Tong, Mr Soben, Ms Tomra, and especially Ms Srey Kea for going above and beyond to make our stay so special.

Fellini Siem Reap

Restaurants 108 m 1 min walk 4.9/5 on Google

Fellini Siem Reap is 108 m north-west of Golden Temple Retreat — about 1 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from Golden Temple Retreat are Old Maison Eatery (204 m) and Wild (349 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

An Italian restaurant on Bamboo Street in Siem Reap, serving pizza and pasta alongside a full separate vegan menu, with cocktails and dessert also on offer. The setting is elegant and relaxing enough to be remembered for the atmosphere as much as the food, and it is open daily from late morning into the evening.

Guests are consistently enthusiastic, with a very high volume of reviews backing up the praise. Pizza and pasta dishes such as papardelle come up repeatedly as fresh and well presented, and the vegan menu is singled out more than once as unexpectedly extensive and well executed. Service is a recurring theme too, with individual staff members and managers thanked by name for attentiveness, including small touches like a complimentary birthday dessert or keeping a toddler entertained at the table. Several visitors mention returning more than once during a single stay in Siem Reap, and more than one comparison is made favourably against actual restaurants in Italy. No significant complaints or caveats appear in the feedback.

Given how often repeat visits are mentioned, arriving without a reservation on a busy evening could mean a wait, so booking ahead for dinner is worth considering. It suits couples, families with children, and anyone travelling with dietary restrictions, given the dedicated vegan options. The combination of Western comfort food, wine and cocktails, and attentive service makes it a reasonable choice for a night that steps away from Khmer cuisine, whether for a casual meal or something closer to a celebration.

Old Maison Eatery

Restaurants 204 m 3 min walk 4.9/5 on Google

Old Maison Eatery is 204 m west of Golden Temple Retreat — about 3 minutes on foot. It is among the three closest places to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from Golden Temple Retreat are Fellini Siem Reap (108 m) and Wild (349 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Tucked into the quieter Wat Damnak area of Siem Reap, Old Maison Eatery is a Khmer restaurant with a rustic, well-finished interior that several visitors compare favourably to smarter Western dining rooms. The menu covers local staples alongside some Western dishes, with rice crackers and shrimp fritters served as starters and mains that run from beef lok lak and fish amok to a beef saraman curry. It opens daily from 3:00 to 10:30 PM.

Reviewers are consistent on a few points: the rice crackers with their dipping sauce and the shrimp fritters with pepper sauce are repeatedly singled out, and the saraman curry and lok lak also draw praise. Food prices are described as affordable for the quality and portion size, though one visitor noted drinks run a bit pricier. Service comes up again and again as a highlight, with staff described as attentive, warm, and willing to bring extras like more dipping sauce without being asked. A couple of reviewers mention minor misses, such as fried rice with slightly dry chicken or shrimp fritters that were fine but unremarkable, though these are framed as small quibbles rather than real complaints. More than one guest calls the restaurant among the better meals of their whole Siem Reap trip.

Given how often reviewers mention the place being busy, booking ahead is worth doing rather than turning up on spec, especially in the evening. The setting suits couples and families looking for a proper sit-down dinner rather than a quick bite, and it works well as an introduction to Khmer cuisine for visitors who want familiar comforts like fries alongside more traditional dishes.

MR.LY Gym and Boxing

Sport & fitness 212 m 3 min walk 4.9/5 on Google

MR.LY Gym and Boxing is 212 m north-west of Golden Temple Retreat — about 3 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “sport & fitness”.

The other place under “sport & fitness” within reach of Golden Temple Retreat is Aum Yoga Center, Siem Reap, Cambodia (2.7 km).

MR.LY Gym and Boxing is a Kun Khmer and boxing training facility on the far side of the river from Pub Street, offering group classes and open gym access alongside coaching for fighters at different stages of experience. Visitors describe a working gym rather than a polished fitness studio: equipment is functional but not new, and the space is set up for genuine training rather than casual sightseeing.

What comes through consistently in reviews is the quality of the coaching. Guests repeatedly mention coaches who are patient with beginners while still running serious sessions, and several note that champion fighters train alongside regular clients, giving the place a credible, unglamorous feel. Equipment for classes is provided on site, so newcomers do not need their own gear. The value for money is mentioned often, with entry to the gym or a class priced low enough that people treat it as an easy addition to a Siem Reap stay. One longer-term visitor who trained there for two months recalls a demanding daily routine of sparring and clinching that noticeably improved their skills. The main practical caveat raised is navigational rather than about the gym itself: there are multiple businesses with a similar name, so it is worth confirming the route in advance, past Pub Street and across the river.

The gym is open every day from 6am to 9pm, which allows for morning or evening sessions around sightseeing. It suits both complete beginners curious about Kun Khmer or boxing and more experienced fighters looking for real sparring, since reviewers describe classes as adaptable to different skill levels. Anyone booking transport should double check the address given the name overlap with other gyms in town, and those short on time in the city may still find a single class worthwhile based on how visitors describe the experience.

Wild

Restaurants 349 m 4 min walk 4.9/5 on Google

Wild is 349 m north-west of Golden Temple Retreat — about 4 minutes on foot. It is among the three closest places to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from Golden Temple Retreat are Fellini Siem Reap (108 m) and Old Maison Eatery (204 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

A restaurant in the Wat Damnak area of Siem Reap built around a single idea: spring rolls, both fresh rice-paper rolls and deep-fried versions, done in a range of creative combinations rather than the standard version found around town. The menu extends to cocktails and mocktails, a vegetarian selection, and desserts such as banana spring rolls, all served in a space with attentive decor and a cosy, relaxed atmosphere. Card and Google Pay are accepted, a small but useful detail in a city where cash is often expected.

Reviewers are consistently enthusiastic, with names like Monsoon Rainbow, King Jayavarman and Mama Mia coming up as favourites among the fresh and fried rolls, and several guests recommend ordering one of each style to compare textures. The service is repeatedly described as warm, professional and fast, with staff singled out for genuine hospitality rather than routine politeness. More than one visitor mentions returning multiple times during a short stay, or wishing they had, and dishes are noted for traditional Khmer touches beneath the inventive presentation. No significant complaints appear in the feedback, though the narrow focus on spring rolls means diners looking for a broader Khmer menu may want to check the offerings beforehand.

Open daily from late morning until late evening, Wild suits couples looking for a relaxed dinner, spring roll enthusiasts, and travellers who want a vegetarian-friendly option without sacrificing flavour. Given the popularity reflected in the review volume, arriving a little ahead of peak dinner hours is a sensible precaution for those without a reservation.

Restaurants 397 m 5 min walk 4.9/5 on Google

HAVEN is 397 m east of Golden Temple Retreat — about 5 minutes on foot.

The next two places under “restaurants” from Golden Temple Retreat are Fellini Siem Reap (108 m) and Old Maison Eatery (204 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

HAVEN is a garden restaurant on Chocolate Road in Siem Reap, open daily except Monday from 10am to 10pm. It operates as a training restaurant, giving disadvantaged young adults hands-on experience in hospitality, and the owners are frequently on site, often stopping by tables to chat with guests. The menu runs from curries to salads to vegan options, alongside cocktails and coffee, served in a leafy, relaxed setting that guests describe as an oasis from the streets outside.

Reviews are strikingly consistent: visitors praise the food quality across multiple dishes, from the fish to a vegan carrot cake to a beef salad described as beautifully plated, and several mention returning more than once, including one group of twenty who noted every dish arrived together and on time. Service is repeatedly called warm and attentive, with more than one reviewer describing staff handling a problem, such as a payment issue, calmly and helpfully. The training-restaurant concept is mentioned often and clearly adds to the experience for many diners, who say knowing the purpose behind the place makes the meal feel more worthwhile.

Given the volume and consistency of praise, HAVEN suits travellers looking for a relaxed sit-down meal rather than a quick bite, including groups, couples, and anyone wanting vegan or vegetarian choices alongside more standard dishes. It is closed on Mondays, so plan around that, and the garden setting makes it a good lunch stop if you are already exploring the area rather than a destination requiring a special detour, though several guests treat it as exactly that.

The Bean Embassy Roastery & Specialty Coffee is 431 m east of Golden Temple Retreat — about 5 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “cafés & bakeries”.

The next two places under “cafés & bakeries” from Golden Temple Retreat are The muffin man, Siem Reap (444 m) and Dialogue (517 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

The Bean Embassy is a roastery-café set on the grounds of the Chocolate Garden east of Siem Reap, away from the town's busier streets. It has its own on-site roastery, a small house with plenty of surrounding green space, and both indoor and outdoor seating. The menu runs from breakfast plates, poached eggs and hollandaise among them, to pastries like almond croissants, alongside a full specialty coffee list with detailed flavour descriptions and the option to choose your coffee's strength and sweetness.

Visitors consistently rate the coffee itself very highly, describing it as rich and well-made, with attentive staff who explain the beans and offer small touches like free cookies or water alongside the order. The setting is repeatedly praised for its quiet, family-friendly, green atmosphere, a contrast to more central cafés. The recurring criticisms are the price, which some guests find high for Cambodia, and occasional slow service at busier times, along with air conditioning that has not always kept up with the heat.

It opens early, from 6am daily until 9pm, which makes it a good stop for breakfast after an overnight bus or an early start to the day. Because it sits on the Chocolate Garden grounds outside the central Pub Street area, it suits visitors looking for a slower, quieter morning or afternoon rather than a quick coffee between sightseeing stops. Bringing a book or planning to linger is worthwhile, since guests describe it as a place for sitting and relaxing rather than passing through, and it works well for couples, families, or anyone wanting a calmer alternative to the town centre's cafés.

Sights 440 m 6 min walk 4.4/5 on Google

Old Market Bridge is 440 m north of Golden Temple Retreat — about 6 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “sights”.

The next two places under “sights” from Golden Temple Retreat are The Living Arts Village by Artisans Angkor (628 m) and Pub Street (636 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

This pedestrian bridge stands at the heart of Siem Reap's riverfront district, adjacent to the Old Market and offering direct access to the surrounding riverbank. The bridge itself is modest in structure but serves as a hub for the evening economy—restaurants, food stalls, and small shops line the water's edge, and the area is lit in the evenings. From the bridge you can see neighboring structures including an art bridge nearby, and the wider riverside promenade allows for a walking loop through the commercial quarter.

Visitors consistently highlight the bridge as an evening destination rather than a daytime sight. The riverside atmosphere at night draws particular praise, with the decorative lighting and restaurant activity creating what guests describe as lively surroundings. The food stalls serve local street dishes and fresh produce, though multiple visitors note that bargaining skill is expected if you plan to purchase. A practical caveat appears in several reviews: the bridge handles vehicle traffic, so caution is needed when walking, particularly if focusing on photographs.

The bridge suits anyone exploring downtown Siem Reap in the evening or hunting for local food experiences. It's open around the clock, so there's no timing restriction, though the atmosphere is most active after dark. The location is central enough that most visitors exploring the city center will encounter it organically. The nearby Old Market offers conventional shopping but requires negotiation; the bridge and riverside are better for casual browsing and eating without the same pressure to transact.

A café on Wat Bo Road offering a wide selection of muffins, cakes and cheesecakes alongside a proper breakfast and lunch menu that includes salads, toasties and vegetable-based dishes. Coffee is made in an Australian style, and matcha and other drinks are also on offer. The interior is described as modern and calm, suited to sitting in for a while rather than a quick takeaway stop.

Visitors consistently mention the quality and freshness of the baked goods, with muffins, brownies and cheesecakes coming up again and again as standouts, alongside savoury options like lentil salad, vegetable stacks and chickpea fritters that cater well to vegetarian and vegan diets. The coffee draws particular praise for its quality. Portion sizes are called generous and prices reasonable, and staff are repeatedly described as friendly and attentive. No notable complaints or caveats appear in the reviews, and several visitors mention returning multiple times during their stay.

Open daily from 7am to 10pm, it works equally well for an early breakfast, a working lunch or a dessert stop after dinner, as one visitor used it. Given its popularity, arriving outside peak breakfast or lunch hours may mean an easier time finding a seat.
