Hotels near Independence Monument - Kampong Chhnang Province

This is a public monument and park in Kampong Chhnang town, designed as a local counterpart to the Independence Monument in Phnom Penh. The site consists of the monument itself, surrounding green space, and a paved area that serves as a gathering point for the town. It is open around the clock and accessible to visitors at any time.

Visitors describe it as a pleasant spot for casual time outdoors, popular especially in the evening when families and groups come to relax. The park frequently hosts events and concerts, drawing crowds during celebrations like Khmer New Year. Street food vendors operate in the area, making it a natural stop for eating as well as walking around. Some visitors note that it can become crowded during peak times or special occasions. The monument is noticeably smaller than its Phnom Penh namesake, which is worth knowing if you have seen the original.

The site works best as a casual visit rather than a planned outing, whether you are passing through town or spending an evening locally. It suits families, particularly those with children, and those interested in how Cambodian communities use public space. There is no particular season that makes it better or worse to visit, though evening hours when the temperature cools tend to be busier. The 24-hour opening means you can arrive whenever it suits your schedule.
