Hotels near 7 Makara Market

Seven Makara Market sits in the city center of Kampong Cham, near the riverfront in Sangkat Veal Vong. This is a working local market where vendors sell fresh vegetables, fruits, meat, and protein alongside everyday staples and modern appliances. It functions as the kind of place residents come to for their daily shopping rather than a tourist attraction, though visitors passing through the city will find it accessible and genuine.

Guests consistently describe the market as lively and well-stocked, with high energy and helpful vendors. The atmosphere draws praise for being authentically local. The water facilities are noted as clean. Some visitors rank it among Kampong Cham's better open markets, though opinions vary on whether the range of goods justifies a dedicated visit if you are not shopping for provisions. Those looking for a glimpse of everyday Cambodian commerce rather than curated tourist experiences tend to find it worthwhile.

The market opens daily from 6 AM to around 6:30 PM, making it accessible for morning or evening visits. It is genuinely geared toward locals, so arriving early tends to offer the freshest selection and most active trading. If you are staying in Kampong Cham and need fresh produce or basic goods, or want to see how the city's residents shop, this is a straightforward place to visit. Expect a crowded, informal setting with narrow aisles and vendors who do not speak English, though they are reported as patient and accommodating.
