My Boyfriend and I have stayed here twice and the family and staff are always lovely. Be sure to try the seafood dishes especially the crab curry! I got a great massage at sunset and love the clean beach that the guesthouse takes care of daily.
Bungalow was very dirty and I doubt it was cleaned between guests. In the bathroom was still lots of sand on the floor and soap and shampoo packets. The water butt for flushing the toilet was filthy and so was the toilet seat and bowl. The shower did not work and there was no sink. The water from the plastic faucet was salty.
We also found rat droppings all over the bungalow, including on our pillows...
Food in the restaurant was pretty good however and beers very reasonably priced. Okay for our one night stay but did not want to stay longer.
Immediately regretted our choice to stay at Yeay Meng - the first resort we found after disembarking boat. Unclean bungalow lacked any light in toilet and an unfinished plate of fried rice under the bed presented us with an unwelcome legacy from a previous guest.
On the other hand, a seafood and soup dinner was pretty tasty even if the high price was not so easy to swallow.
As nighttime rolled around the beautiful Rabbit Island sunset ushered in a cool and calm evening. We felt our eyes drooping and contemplated an early night as the sounds of rustling trees and chirping insects combined with the gently rolling waves of the sea.
A calming night of rest, however, was unfortunately not an option in the Yeay Meng bungalows - where the sound of waves lapping on the white sands was drowned by the brutal noise of a diesel electric generator engine situated in a shed a few metres from the bungalow.
Being as tired as we were it was eventually possible to mentally tune out the violent drone of the generator and succumb to sleep.
Things took a pleasant turn after dawn as the offending generator was shut off and we could once again welcome the natural sounds of this (almost) unspoilt island paradise.
Get it while you can: construction of a new pier and resort is already under way... Who knows what we will find on our next visit to Rabbit Island.
Yeay Meng made the wait for the return boat interesting for us by bringing in a large excavator truck to dig up a concrete platform just
Simone is THE Best! Mojitos and fresh crabs with pepper sauce are delicious. ;-) Great place to stay. I stayed there for 20 days and loved every single minutes of it.
The best spot of Cambodia! Some tourist during the day but really quiet the evening. The owner "Simone" is really wonderful and friendly. These moritos are fantastic.
