Utopia Koh Rong is a hostel on Koh Rong Samloem, Cambodia, set directly on the sand at Long Set Resort in Preah Sihanouk. Accommodation is in dorms with shared bathrooms, and the rooms are basic: recent guests found no lockers, no locks on the doors, no reading light at the beds and curtains that did not fit the windows.
Most of the day happens outside the rooms. The beach is a step from the door, there are hammocks to sit in, and food is served on site at low prices. The property is a few minutes from the ferry landing, so it works as a first or last stop on the island, and the owner has taken groups of guests out fishing in the morning.
It suits budget travellers who want a beachfront base, an easy social atmosphere and somewhere to spend the day on the sand rather than in the room. Travellers who need secure storage, reliable air conditioning or consistently clean shared facilities...
The hostel is on Koh Rong Samloem, at Long Set Resort, Preah Sihanouk 18000, Cambodia, with the beach immediately in front of it. The ferry landing is a few minutes away, which keeps arrival and departure simple. The surroundings are sandy and open rather than built up.
Sleeping is in dorms, and bathrooms are shared. Guests have found the dorm rooms without lockers and without working locks on the doors, so bring your own means of securing valuables. The setting is sandy throughout, and sand carries from the beach into the rooms and bathrooms.

I had an absolutely amazing experience at Yellow Sun Koh Rong! The location is truly perfect, right on the beach, and the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Big shout-out to Chloe and Taylor 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼 , they made the stay even more special! The food is very well priced, which I really appreciated, and everything contributed to such a relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. I originally planned to stay for just 3 nights… and ended up staying 10 days 😍 That alone says it all!

I stayed here recently and while the beachfront location is beautiful, there were a few areas where the experience could be improved. The rooms felt a bit under-equipped. There were no lockers or door locks, which made it difficult to securely store belongings. Small additions like a light by each bed and properly fitting curtains would also make a big difference to comfort and privacy. Given the sandy setting, it’s understandable that sand gets everywhere, but the satin sheets tended to make this more noticeable as it sticks easily. A simple path or stepping stones between the rooms and bathrooms, as well as a brush in each room, would really help keep things cleaner. The bathroom facilities were somewhat limited for the number of guests, and cleanliness could be improved, particularly later in the day. WiFi was also quite unreliable during my stay and didn’t work for most of the time. Overall, while the setting has a lot of potential, the atmosphere and facilities didn’t quite meet expectations. With a few practical improvements, this could be a much more comfortable and enjoyable place to stay.

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!!!!!!! this property should be burned down. One of the rooms got evacuated and sent to a different hostel bc there were bed bugs (they didn’t get refund). There are rats in ceiling. There is a landfill on property so whole place smells sour. The door doesn’t even shut to room and cats kept coming in. The list goes on and on. It’s literally a shack. I love to camp and have gone a week without showering and have never felt more disgusting than at this place. I left the place with bed bugs myself. Really ruined my entire experience on Koh rong. I left and booked onederz hostel and it is SO worth the extra money. You’re better off sleeping on the beach

I can only recommend this hostel when staying in Koh Rong! It‘s close to the Long Set Pier but also close to the Nestival. It‘s such a nice, familiar and chill vibe there. A very good thing is also the food that’s very good and cheap. And they even have an amazing tattoo artist there, so you can get a tattoo.

Could not recommend this place enough, I decided to visit the for 3 days and because of the vibes in the hostel I stayed for 2 weeks. The staff are amazing and I fell in love with one of the girls working behind the bar, she had the most beautiful smile ever, Shannon ! 10/10 place! They even have the cheapest beer on the island!
