The West City Hotel

VIMEAN SOKHA MUSEUM is 4.4 km east of The West City Hotel — a short ride rather than a walk. It is the closest place to the hotel under “museums & galleries”.

The next two places under “museums & galleries” from The West City Hotel are The Cocoon House - Art Gallery, Concept Store, Fashion Vintage and Skate Shop - by Cocoon Limited (4.8 km) and The River Gallery (5.2 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Vimean Sokha Museum is a privately assembled collection in Siem Reap, built up over some two decades by its owner, known to visitors as Mr. Ly (also referred to as Mr. Lee). Rather than a formal institutional display, it is a personal trove of vintage motorcycles, clocks, cars, vinyl records, cameras, lamps, audio equipment and currency, arranged across a curated space, with a workshop on site where the owner demonstrates his own craftsmanship.

Visitors consistently describe the collection itself as exceptional, calling it one of the richest gatherings of antiques and vintage objects they have seen in Siem Reap, or in Cambodia generally. What stands out most in reviews is the personal guiding: the owner and, at times, his teenage daughter walk guests through the exhibits with evident passion and knowledge, and are happy to take photos for visitors. The recurring caveat is a lack of written explanation for the pieces on display, several reviewers noting that captions and descriptions are minimal and that the experience would benefit from more context or an interactive element, though the guided walk-through largely compensates for this. One small detail mentioned repeatedly: the family enjoys receiving foreign currency notes as donations to add to their collection.

The museum is open daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., which makes it easy to combine with a visit to the nearby Apopo Centre, as one review suggests. Because much of the value comes from the personal tour, it suits travellers who enjoy an unscripted, conversational visit rather than a self-guided museum experience with wall text. Anyone drawn to vintage mechanics, old cameras, clocks or curios, and who appreciates hearing the story directly from the collector, is likely to find it worthwhile.

Aum Yoga Center, Siem Reap, Cambodia is 4.4 km east of The West City Hotel — a short ride rather than a walk. It is the closest place to the hotel under “sport & fitness”.

The other place under “sport & fitness” within reach of The West City Hotel is MR.LY Gym and Boxing (5.4 km).

Aum Yoga Center sits on the grounds of Angkor Grace in Siem Reap and offers a full studio setup rather than a single yoga room: showers, lockers, a bathroom, drinking water, books and sofas for lingering before or after class. The schedule runs across styles — Hatha, Vinyasa, aerial yoga, aqua yoga and sound-focused sessions that use crystal bowls, chanting or a teacher's voice during shavasana, sometimes from hammocks. The space itself is designed around greenery and natural materials, giving it a calmer, more resort-like feel than a typical studio.

Visitors consistently single out two things: the cleanliness of the facility, down to guests noting their feet stay clean after barefoot practice, and the quality of the teachers, described repeatedly as professional, attentive and patient with beginners. The aerial yoga class comes up often, with newcomers saying the instructors make the inversions feel manageable rather than intimidating. Several guests who took daily morning classes during their stay describe the routine as genuinely energizing, and one mentions considering relocating to Siem Reap partly because of the center. No complaints or caveats surface in the reviews gathered here.

It is open daily from 7:30 in the morning to 7 in the evening, which allows for an early class before sightseeing or a later one to unwind. Given the range of styles offered, it suits both regular practitioners looking to keep a routine going while travelling and first-timers curious about aerial or aqua yoga in a low-pressure setting. Reviewers who attended multiple sessions in a single week suggest it rewards repeat visits rather than a single drop-in, so travellers with a few days in Siem Reap are likely to get the most out of it.

The Secret Eden Spa is 4.5 km south-east of The West City Hotel — a short ride rather than a walk. It is the closest place to the hotel under “spa & wellness”.

The next two places under “spa & wellness” from The West City Hotel are Relax Spa (4.7 km) and The Spa Siem Reap (4.8 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

The Secret Eden Spa sits on Sok San Road in central Siem Reap, offering massage and body treatments in a setting visitors describe as peaceful and quietly designed. The spa provides shuttle pickup and drop-off to and from hotels, and treatment rooms are separate, clean spaces with private facilities. Visitors consistently mention the calm atmosphere and the quality of the massage work itself as reasons to return.

Guests praise the skill of the therapists and the accuracy of deep tissue work, with several noting they have had better massages here than elsewhere. The reasonable pricing relative to the quality of treatment comes up repeatedly. Staff are described as warm and welcoming—the reception area greets visitors with iced tea and a cold face cloth. Communication through WhatsApp for same-day bookings is reportedly fast. No significant complaints appear in visitor feedback; the main point of consistent recommendation is the combination of professional technique, peaceful setting, and value.

The spa opens daily from 9:30 AM to 10:00 PM (closed Sundays). It suits anyone in Siem Reap wanting a massage or body scrub without the hassle of arranging transport, and works well for repeat treatments during a stay. Booking through their WhatsApp number appears to be the practical approach, particularly if you want same-day availability. The location on a quieter lane means you can step away from central Siem Reap's busier streets.

Graines de Piaf is 4.6 km south-east of The West City Hotel — a short ride rather than a walk. It is the closest place to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from The West City Hotel are Mesa - Restaurant (5.0 km) and Wild (5.2 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Tucked on Funky Lane in Siem Reap, Graines de Piaf is a small French restaurant open evenings only, run by a French owner who cooks and often talks guests through the menu himself. Dishes mentioned by visitors include bavette, magret de canard, pork filet with truffle sauce, duck in mustard sauce, beef fillet and creme brûlé, with meals typically served with salad and bread in the French style, alongside wine the owner is happy to pair with the food.

Reviews are consistently positive, with guests praising the quality and freshness of the cooking, reasonable prices, and the warmth of the owner, who is repeatedly described as friendly, passionate and attentive, including to non-French speakers thanks to an English menu. The one recurring caveat is space: the dining room is small and can get crowded and noisy on busy nights, with karaoke inside, so some diners have ended up seated outside among smokers, which they actually found quieter than the interior.

This is a place for an evening meal rather than a casual lunch, since it only opens from 6pm to midnight. It suits travellers who have had their fill of local cuisine and want a properly cooked French dinner with wine, or anyone curious about a small, personally run kitchen rather than a large restaurant. Given the limited seating and evident popularity, arriving early or booking ahead is worth considering, especially on weekends, and those who prefer a quiet indoor setting might ask about seating before committing to a table.

Cambodian-Vietnamese War Memorial is 4.7 km east of The West City Hotel — a short ride rather than a walk. It is the closest place to the hotel under “parks & nature”.

The next two places under “parks & nature” from The West City Hotel are Flying Foxes (5.0 km) and Royal Independence Gardens (5.1 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

The Cambodian-Vietnamese War Memorial is a small park situated on one of Siem Reap's main roads, dedicated to remembering the historical cooperation and conflicts between the two nations. The site centres on a stone monument with distinctive architectural detail. There is no admission charge, and the space remains open around the clock.

Visitors consistently describe the memorial as a peaceful and quiet spot, even in the midst of the busy city surroundings. The stonework and architectural design draw repeated mention, with several noting that it rewards even a brief stop. Most who visit appreciate the free access and the respectful atmosphere, though some acknowledge there is relatively little to see and do beyond spending five to ten minutes observing the monument itself. The area has local vendors nearby selling food and drinks.

The memorial works best as a short pause during a day spent exploring Siem Reap's other attractions rather than as a destination in itself. Its central location makes it accessible to hotel guests staying nearby. Those interested in Cambodia's recent history may want to combine a visit here with nearby museums; visitors have noted it pairs well with more extensive historical sites in the area. There is no best time to visit given the round-the-clock access, though early morning or evening might offer a quieter experience.

Relax Spa is 4.7 km south-east of The West City Hotel — a short ride rather than a walk.

The next two places under “spa & wellness” from The West City Hotel are The Secret Eden Spa (4.5 km) and The Spa Siem Reap (4.8 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Relax Spa sits right next to the Park Hyatt in central Siem Reap, offering massage and body treatments in private rooms. Visitors mention a welcome of tea on arrival, a cold towel and refreshment before treatments, and a hot beverage plus fresh mango afterward. Massage oils come in a choice of scents, including lemongrass, and the facility itself is described as clean, spacious and well air-conditioned. Options mentioned by guests include shoulder, back, neck and head massages, foot massages, full body massages, and couples sessions.

Reviews are consistently positive and repeatedly note steady, well-judged pressure from therapists held for the full duration, friendly and professional staff, and a calm, comfortable atmosphere that some guests connect to Khmer and Buddhist sensibilities. Several reviewers highlight promotional discounts, including a 50% off deal that made longer sessions, such as a two-hour massage, feel like good value. A couple of guests mention personal touches, such as staff arranging a small birthday surprise. No significant complaints appear across the reviews, though the frequent mention of time-limited promotions suggests standard rates may differ from what some visitors paid.

The spa is open daily from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM, making it workable for an evening treatment after a day at the temples or a pre-dinner stop given its Central Park location. Given its popularity and the mentions of discounted packages, it is worth asking about current promotions when booking, and reserving ahead if you want a specific time slot or a couples room. It suits travellers wanting a straightforward, comfortable massage experience in a convenient, easy-to-find location rather than a resort-style wellness retreat.

The Cocoon House - Art Gallery, Concept Store, Fashion Vintage and Skate Shop - by Cocoon Limited is 4.8 km east of The West City Hotel — a short ride rather than a walk. It is among the three closest places to the hotel under “museums & galleries”.

The next two places under “museums & galleries” from The West City Hotel are VIMEAN SOKHA MUSEUM (4.4 km) and The River Gallery (5.2 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Set inside an old colonial mansion on Sivatha Road, this Siem Reap space mixes an art gallery, a concept store, a vintage fashion corner, and a skate shop under one roof. Visitors find contemporary artwork alongside Asian and European antiques, film photography, own-brand clothing, and skateboarding gear, with pieces ranging from affordable finds to higher-value collectibles.

Guests consistently describe the atmosphere as unusual and inviting, crediting the family behind it, a mother and son, for making the visit personal rather than transactional. Several reviewers mention staff by name, noting they take time to explain the history of the collection and the story behind the shop, and even offer tips on where to eat or find good coffee nearby. More than one visitor calls it the best skate shop they have encountered, and the vintage and antique pieces get particular praise for being well curated and, in some cases, surprisingly reasonably priced. No real criticisms surface in the reviews.

The house is closed on Tuesdays, and on other days it operates in two blocks, roughly mid-morning to early afternoon and then again from early afternoon into the evening, so it is worth timing a visit around that split. It suits travellers who enjoy browsing rather than a quick in-and-out stop, since much of the appeal comes from the stories attached to individual pieces and from the chance to talk with the people running it. It works equally well for someone hunting a vintage watch, a piece of art, or simply a skate shop with more personality than stock.

The Spa Siem Reap is 4.8 km south-east of The West City Hotel — a short ride rather than a walk.

The next two places under “spa & wellness” from The West City Hotel are The Secret Eden Spa (4.5 km) and Relax Spa (4.7 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Set on Sok San Road, this spa occupies a spacious, well-appointed building where the arrival ritual is part of the experience: a welcome drink, cold water or tea, and sometimes a foot cleanse before guests are guided upstairs to treatment rooms. Facials, body scrubs, wraps and massages, including longer couples sessions with add-ons, are among the treatments on offer, carried out in clean, quiet rooms with soft background music.

Reviewers are consistently positive about the setting and the service around the treatment itself: the foyer, the hospitality touches like tea served afterward, and the professionalism and warmth of the staff come up again and again. Several guests single out particular therapists by name for attentiveness and care, and more than one review notes that pricing feels straightforward rather than inflated with constant discounts. The massages themselves get a slightly more mixed response — most call them relaxing and good, but a few describe them as solid rather than exceptional, with one guest mentioning a minor lapse in a therapist's personal hygiene that briefly took away from the experience.

The spa runs late, open from mid-morning until 11:30pm most days, which suits both an afternoon stop after temple visits and an evening wind-down before dinner. Booking ahead is sensible for longer or couples' treatments, though at least one guest managed to get in with only two hours' notice, and the staff have been described as flexible with appointment times. It works well for travellers wanting a proper pampering session — facial, scrub, wrap or massage — in surroundings that feel more considered than purely functional, though those chasing the single best massage of their trip may want to temper expectations slightly.
