The Magic Sponge is a guest house in Kep, Cambodia, set just off the Salt Workers Roundabout on Street 730. Alongside its rooms, the property runs a restaurant and bar with a terrace, and it has built a name locally for its kitchen, run by a team turning out large, affordable meals throughout the day.
Guests staying here have access to pool tables and a mini-golf course, both free to use, giving the property a relaxed, sociable feel beyond just a place to sleep. The restaurant serves breakfast through to dinner, with a wide menu that covers curries, breakfast dishes and other mains, and there is a daily happy hour with discounted drinks.
The Magic Sponge suits travellers who want a laid-back base with food and entertainment on site, rather than a purely functional stay. It works equally for groups looking for a casual dinner spot with games to pass the time, and for guests staying over...

We went as a large group to the magic sponge for dinner. It was such a great experience! Our host was hilarious, warm and exceptionally hospitable. There are pool tables and a minigolf course to keep you entertained as the kitchen team prepare the meals, which in their own words, are "American sized portions".
The food was delicious, and truly generous sized for a great cost. For any travellers staying in Kampot, I would highly recommend visiting or staying at the Magic Sponge!
An absolute delight . Everything about the Magic Sponge is excellent. The setting is wonderful with a jasmine canopy scenting a relaxing seating area. Pristinely clean throughout, friendly, and very reasonably priced.
There are many good places to eat in Kampot, but you'll find none better than this .
If i may make a recommendation food wise , try the Eggs Benedict .
It's a favourite dish of mine wherever i go, and i use it as a yardstick to determine the quality of a kitchen/chef.
Here is the the best that i have ever eaten.
The menu caters for most tastes, both the wine and cocktails are of good quality and very pleasing on the pocket.
The owner is most welcoming and helpful in every way. His name is William and he's the first person i've ever met from Alaska.
Give it a try , you certainly won't regret it.
One of the oldest foreign businesses in Kampot, maintaining excellent food and service. Never stayed in the rooms as I live in town, but have ordered food from them for years and it's always been fairly priced, good portion and delicious. Enjoy!
Excellent food, one of the best curries I've had outside of India, especially the fish Madras! And everything else on the menu. Real big portions at incredibly low prices!! And 5-7 happy hour with $1 shots✌️
The Magic Sponge is absolutely lovely. The food is excellent and competitively priced . We have eaten here on several occasions and have never been disappointed. The breakfast menu is comprehensive and the sausages , which I believe are specially made for this restaurant are exquisite . Everything is very good indeed. The ambience is also welcoming , peaceful and oh so friendly . William the owner could not be more helpful or attentive and makes you feel comfortable and very much at home . There is also a mini golf course which is free for patrons and is really good fun . Thank you William, very much appreciated
