I had a very pleasant stay overall. The rooms were spacious, comfortable and felt more premium than many hotels in a similar price range. The gym was excellent and genuinely one of the best hotel gyms I came across during my travels, with a wide range of equipment for a proper workout. The facilities, including the jacuzzi and sauna, were also a welcome addition.
The location may not suit everyone, as it is a little further from the city centre, cafés and some of the main attractions. However, this does make it quieter and more relaxing for those looking to escape the bustle of town.
The staff were professional, efficient and helpful. On a personal note, having travelled around Cambodia, I found myself missing some of the warmth, smiles and informal friendliness that I had become accustomed to elsewhere in the country. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the service, it simply felt a little more formal in style, more akin to Western hospitality than the uniquely warm Southeast Asian hospitality I had experienced during the rest of my trip.
My only suggestion would be regarding the in room coffee. Given the quality of the rooms and facilities, a proper coffee machine would feel more in keeping with the hotel’s otherwise premium standard than instant coffee sachets.
Overall, a comfortable and well equipped hotel with excellent fitness and facilities, particularly suited to guests seeking a quieter stay. Thank you.
Superb stay. Close to everything a tourist wants to do. We would reach most attraction in 5-7 mins or less on scooty. We just had a lovely time at this hotel and their infinit pool was good too and the best part was we stayed two nights under two different bookings so we recd a 15 min foot massage free twice where this one therapist was AMAZING! She did once for me and once for my husband. Overall super stay super hotel
An oasis of tranquility in busy Phnom Penh. It's a 20 minute ride to the center, but the facilities are incredible. Ley Ley at the front desk was very welcoming and assigned a wonderful room with views of the skyline and the river, a great bathtub with city views, and a very comfortable bed. The pool is exceptional, as are the sauna and jacuzzi facilities. The breakfast buffet was basic and not a great value. Overall, Sun and Moon Riverside costs a bit more than many hotels, but it's worth it. A memorable stay!
During my recent stay at Sun and Moon Riverside Hotel, there were some initial hiccups during my check-in. However, what truly impressed me was how quickly and professionally the matter was resolved by Mr Christopher Huang, the Assistant General Manager.
Christopher’s friendliness, calm demeanour, and hands-on approach immediately turned the situation around. He took the time to listen, addressed the issue promptly, and ensured that my stay got off on the right footing. His genuine care and attentiveness made me feel valued as a guest.
What sets Christopher apart is his visible presence and willingness to personally engage with guests rather than remaining behind the scenes. His professionalism, approachability, and commitment to guest satisfaction embody the true spirit of hospitality.
A well-deserved recognition for a hospitality professional who goes above and beyond for his guests.
Sun & Moon Riverside Hotel in Phnom Penh was unexpectedly good — the kind of place you book hoping it’s decent, then realize you actually made a great call. From the moment I arrived, the staff set the tone: genuinely friendly, quick to help, and consistently professional without feeling robotic. Whether it was directions, transport, or small requests, they handled everything smoothly and with a good attitude.
Comfort is the headline here. The room felt properly “5-star” in the ways that matter: solid bedding, good soundproofing, strong air conditioning, and a layout that doesn’t feel cramped or cheap. Everything was clean, well maintained, and clearly managed with attention to detail. It’s the sort of hotel where you can reset after a chaotic day in the city and actually sleep well.
Location-wise, being by the riverside is a real advantage. It’s easy to get around, and you’re close enough to the action to enjoy Phnom Penh, but not stuck in constant noise. It’s also a nice area for an evening walk or to grab something nearby without planning a full mission.
What impressed me most was the consistency: no weak links. Check-in was efficient, staff were helpful throughout, and the overall vibe felt calm and well-run. You don’t get that everywhere, even when the hotel claims it’s upscale.
If you want a comfortable, hassle-free stay in Phnom Penh with service that actually feels human, Sun & Moon Riverside is a strong choice. Honestly, everything felt spot-on.
