Good to know
The building has four floors and no elevator, and the staircase is narrow. Breakfast is served until 10:00 and includes a drink, eggs and fruit salad, and free bottles of water are provided daily. Two dogs, a cat and a bird live on the property. The owner also operates a separate hotel, so check which property your booking covers before you arrive.
0/10 – By far the weirdest hotel I’ve ever stayed at.
At first, everything seemed promising. Before booking, I asked the owner if I could see the room first, and she happily showed it to me. I booked a 7-night stay through Agoda for around $9 per night, including breakfast, which seemed like a great deal.
The next day, when I was supposed to check in, she told me I had booked the “wrong” property. Apparently, she operates both a guesthouse and a hotel, and my reservation was for the guesthouse. She offered me an “upgrade” to the hotel for an extra $5 per night ($35 total). We agreed because the room she showed us was spacious, had its own balcony, and was basically the penthouse.
Unfortunately, that’s where the good experience ended.
The room didn’t even have a telephone, so every time we needed anything, we had to go downstairs. To make things worse, our room was on the sixth floor, but the elevator only went to the fifth, so we had to carry our heavy luggage up the stairs ourselves.
The room also wasn’t particularly clean and had an unpleasant smell. Although basic amenities were provided, they were the cheapest kind you could buy at a convenience store—sachet shampoo, a small bar of soap, and a low-quality toothbrush. We were also informed that housekeeping would only come once every three days, which was surprising since I’ve always received daily housekeeping at hotels. The refrigerator was dirty, and the thermos smelled bad enough that we didn’t want to use it.
Fo
I am only commenting about the restaurant as I did not stay in the guest house. The food is incredibly delicious and very reasonably priced. The Khmer curry is the best i've had.
Attention: Scam. Confirming the other reviews. The room smelled like sewage. Going up 4 floors without an elevator on tiny stairs is exhausting.
Scam: Don't book any tickets with the owner. She charged me extra because it's the holiday, saying that not many people go to the destination I was going to. The van was packed. She also booked me a cheap ticket for the backseat to get the rest for her pocket. We were squeezing to fit in for a 7-hour ride.
Shame on you. For just a few bucks, you are willing to represent your country in such a way to tourists who are coming here for the first time.
excellent service. cordial environment. AC, hot water, clean towels, bed, spacious room with dull aunshine and natural light in the front room, , all good, except smell from the washrooms which are often felt in downtown of all cities either in Phnom Penh or in Saigon or in Jakarta.
owner is very caring to address the needful, good breakfast till 10:00am, daily free water bottles and staff also nice. location is great.. proximity to everywhere along the river
GOOD:
- Great location
- very affordable (10$ with private bathroom for a double bedroom)
- with good breakfast: 1 drink + eggs + fruit salad
- the bedsheets and towel smelled fresh detergent
BAD:
- The room smelled a bit like sewage due to our bathroom
- the floor could have been better cleaned
I don't understand all the comments about the staff, they were really nice and kind to us!
Overall I would say if you are not too picky and watching your budget it is a fine option.
Just in case you are not a pet fan: there are 2 dogs and 1 cat (+1 bird)
