Pearl Residence Koh Rong

Coconut Beach is 480 m south-east of Pearl Residence Koh Rong — about 6 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “sights”.

The next two places under “sights” from Pearl Residence Koh Rong are Ocean Breeze (3.7 km) and Golden Beach Surf Club (8.5 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Coconut Beach on Koh Rong is a crescent of white sand fringed with coconut palms, facing calm, clear water. The beach is dotted with hammocks and bed loungers, and a handful of restaurants operate along the waterfront. A pier extends into the water, allowing visitors to dive directly from its edge. The atmosphere is relaxed—visitors report seeing families playing volleyball, children on wooden swings beneath the palms, and people watching the sunset from the pier.

The beach draws consistent praise for its cleanliness and the quality of the water, which visitors describe as crystal clear with a sandy seabed. It remains relatively quiet without feeling isolated, striking what several reviewers call a good balance between peaceful and populated. Visitors mention the sunset as particularly worth seeing. Among Koh Rong's beaches, some rank it highly alongside nearby alternatives like Lonley Beach and Pagoda Beach, though rankings vary by preference. A practical caveat: there is no useful convenience shop nearby outside the hotels themselves, so arrive prepared. The south side of the beach may be undergoing changes in ownership as of 2025.

The beach works best for anyone seeking a calm, clean swimming spot away from crowds, particularly those staying on the north side of the island where most accommodation clusters. To reach it, bike access is possible but navigation can be tricky—the beach sits at the bottom of a steep hill. Arrive with supplies in hand, as shopping options are limited once you are there. The sunset timing makes late afternoon a natural moment to visit.

Phorn's Rock & Reggae Bar is 3.4 km south-west of Pearl Residence Koh Rong — a short ride rather than a walk. It is the closest place to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from Pearl Residence Koh Rong are Barracuda Seafood Restaurant (3.4 km) and MaLoop cafe and restaurant (Koh Rong) (3.5 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

A beach bar and restaurant on a quieter stretch of Koh Rong's shoreline, set right on the sand with tables looking out over the water. It is run as a family operation, with a menu that goes beyond typical beach-bar fare to include dishes like Pad Thai, pasta with a coconut-cream sauce, and garlic bread with cheese, alongside cocktails and other drinks.

Visitors consistently single out the food as better than expected for a beach bar, with the Pad Thai and the fresh pasta drawing particular praise, and several note small touches like salted dishes and a perfumed tissue box on the table. The setting and atmosphere come up often too, described as relaxed and cozy with a view of the ocean. Service is usually called warm and attentive, though one review mentions an off visit where the staff seemed less friendly and found the cocktails overly sweet and underwhelming, so it may not be uniformly consistent on every visit. The kitchen has also improvised when out of a menu item, making a dish with different noodles on request rather than turning customers away.

It opens in the afternoon and runs until midnight, which suits an evening meal or sunset drinks rather than lunch. There is no pizza or burgers here, so it is better suited to travellers wanting to sample something closer to local or Southeast Asian-style cooking than standard beach-bar staples. Given the quiet end-of-beach location, it works well for those looking to escape the busier stretches of Koh Rong and settle in for a slower evening by the water.

Barracuda Seafood Restaurant is 3.4 km south-west of Pearl Residence Koh Rong — a short ride rather than a walk. It is among the three closest places to the hotel under “restaurants”.

Set right on Longset Beach in Koh Rong, this is a small beachfront restaurant built around whatever seafood comes in fresh that day. The name gives away the signature dish: grilled barracuda, alongside prawns, squid and other catches, plated with side salads and marinades that lean Mediterranean rather than Khmer. The owner is Turkish, and that background shows up in the olive oil, the dressings and the general approach to seasoning. Wine features more prominently on the list than you would expect from a spot this size and this remote.

Guests are consistent in describing the seafood as fresh and well judged, with the grilled barracuda and the salads singled out repeatedly. The antipasti and marinades get specific praise, and portions are described as generous rather than skimpy. Service and the owner personally come up often, described as warm and attentive. The setting by the water adds to the meal for most visitors, several noting the sea view as part of what makes the evening. No recurring complaints surface in the reviews, though one visitor flags that card payment is accepted but suggests keeping cash on hand, as is sensible anywhere on the island.

It is open daily from 11 in the morning until 10 at night, so it works equally for a late lunch or a sit-down dinner with the sunset. Given the reliance on daily catch, arriving on the earlier side likely means more of the day's options are still available, though this is not stated outright. It suits travellers staying on Koh Rong who want a proper seafood meal without needing to leave the beach, and those who appreciate a small, personally run kitchen over a larger, more anonymous operation. Reservations are not mentioned as necessary, but given the reputation building around the place, it is worth turning up with some flexibility in your plans.

MaLoop is a cafe and restaurant on Long Set Beach in Koh Rong Samloem, opening from 6 AM to 11 PM daily. It functions as both a casual dining spot and a motorbike rental operation, located about a five-minute walk from the Long Set Ferry terminal. The kitchen serves Khmer dishes alongside cafe staples, and the place draws both day-trippers waiting out weather and island visitors in need of transport.

Visitors consistently praise the coffee as among the best on the island, and Khmer dishes like fish amok and beef lok lok on rice receive repeated mention for flavour. The staff are noted for friendliness and language skills, with the owner described as flexible and helpful, particularly regarding bike rentals. One visitor's main caution was that the blueberry milk, while tasty, runs very sweet. Motorbike rentals from here are reported as fairly priced, with well-maintained newer bikes in good working condition suitable for exploring beaches, hills and off-road terrain across the island.

The location works best for those arriving by ferry who want immediate access to island transport without venturing far, or for anyone seeking a reliable meal and coffee break during a beach day. The walk from the pier is short enough to be convenient, though worth noting if you are carrying luggage or prefer immediate beachfront dining.

Ocean Breeze is 3.7 km south-west of Pearl Residence Koh Rong — a short ride rather than a walk.

The next two places under “sights” from Pearl Residence Koh Rong are Coconut Beach (480 m) and Golden Beach Surf Club (8.5 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Ocean Breeze sits on Longset Beach on the southwestern coast of Koh Rong, a stretch of white sand backed by palm and casuarina trees. The beach is open around the clock and remains relatively quiet compared to more developed stretches nearby. Several cafes and restaurants operate along the shore, and scooter rental is available if you want to explore beyond the immediate beach area.

Visitors consistently praise the sand, water clarity, and overall peacefulness of the setting. Multiple reviewers note the beach remains uncrowded and describe it as suitable for swimming, walking, and watching sunsets. The seafront location and proximity to the speedboat port are conveniences regularly mentioned. However, service experiences vary considerably. Some guests report excellent stays with clean facilities, while others describe unhelpful staff, lack of luggage assistance, and unexpected charges like a $20 table reservation deposit for in-house guests — issues that one reviewer felt reflected unwelcoming treatment.

The beach works best for travellers seeking a quiet escape rather than a bustling hub. Visit during Cambodia's dry season (November to April) for the most reliable weather and calmest seas. Since the beach is accessible by speedboat from Sihanouk, check ferry schedules before committing to multi-day stays. If service standards matter to you, arrive with tempered expectations or ask detailed questions about current policies before booking.

Ava Café is 3.8 km south-west of Pearl Residence Koh Rong — a short ride rather than a walk. It is the closest place to the hotel under “cafés & bakeries”.

The next two places under “cafés & bakeries” from Pearl Residence Koh Rong are Bella Vista (6.2 km) and Ma Baker (6.2 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Ava Café sits near the Long Set pier on Koh Rong, a small coffee stop for travellers staying or passing through Long Beach. The menu runs to espresso-based drinks with options like oat milk and flavoured syrups, served in cups reviewers noted for their quality, alongside iced versions such as vanilla or caramel lattes.

Visitors are consistent in singling out the coffee itself as a standout on the island, calling it strong and well made, and several say it is the best they have found in the Long Beach area. The service also comes up repeatedly, with mentions of a friendly, quick owner who is often smiling, and a resident puppy that gets a mention too. The one recurring caveat is about the seating area, with a request for more fans to deal with the heat, and one note that dessert options are limited.

The café opens daily from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, making it a straightforward morning or early afternoon stop rather than an evening one. It suits travellers based around Long Beach who want a reliable coffee fix between beach time, and those looking for dietary options like oat milk will find them here. Given the limited seating comfort mentioned by some, it may work better for a quick coffee than a long lounging session, though the quality and service are what keep people coming back.

Happyplace is 3.8 km south-west of Pearl Residence Koh Rong — a short ride rather than a walk.

The next two places under “restaurants” from Pearl Residence Koh Rong are Phorn's Rock & Reggae Bar (3.4 km) and Barracuda Seafood Restaurant (3.4 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Happyplace is a casual restaurant on Koh Rong that operates around the clock. The kitchen turns out pizza, pad Thai, rice dishes, fried rice, and chicken wings. It sits in a relaxed, laid-back setting that fits the island's atmosphere, and the owner and staff are noted by visitors as genuinely friendly.

The pizza receives consistent praise—visitors describe it as thin, crispy, and flavourful. Pad Thai also stands out as a strong dish. Rice and fried rice options are available, and you can request them without egg for a vegetarian choice, though some visitors have found the French fries excessively oily. Service is generally helpful, though wait times can stretch when the restaurant is busy or a large group arrives at the same time as you. Prices strike visitors as fair for an island location.

The 24-hour opening means you can eat here whenever hunger strikes during your stay on Koh Rong. Arrive when the restaurant is quiet if you prefer faster service. It suits anyone after straightforward, well-executed casual food in a friendly environment rather than fine dining.

CASA MIA PIZZERIA KOH RONG is 3.8 km south-west of Pearl Residence Koh Rong — a short ride rather than a walk.

The next two places under “restaurants” from Pearl Residence Koh Rong are Phorn's Rock & Reggae Bar (3.4 km) and Barracuda Seafood Restaurant (3.4 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Casa Mia Pizzeria occupies a spot on Pub Street in Long Set, Koh Rong's main social hub. It is run by an Italian chef and serves wood-fired pizza and Italian pasta dishes. The space is described as warm and cozy, with decor visitors find appealing. The restaurant changed hands in February, and current visitors report strong quality across the menu.

Guests consistently praise the pizza, particularly the crust—crispy and light—and the quality of toppings and ingredients, which visitors find difficult to reconcile with the island location. Pasta dishes, especially carbonara, draw comparable praise for authenticity and flavour. The Italian chef is noted as a visible presence who brings genuine expertise to the kitchen. Staff friendliness is mentioned across multiple reviews. A note for context: earlier negative reviews online relate to the previous management; the current ownership has shifted visitor experience noticeably. Wine selection appears curated, with visitors mentioning specific choices like Amarone and Aperol Spritz.

The restaurant sits on Pub Street, making it accessible in the evening when tourists typically gather. Go expecting prices higher than casual island eateries but justified by ingredient quality and technique. It suits visitors looking for genuinely made Italian food rather than tourist approximations, and those willing to spend accordingly for dinner with friends or a date night on the island. Reservations are advisable on busy evenings given its popularity and island location.
