Unfortunately we were really disappointed with this hotel. It felt old and run down, the staff were friendly but when we asked about organising a tour of Angkor wat they seemed a little confused (will put this down to poor communication on my part rather than genuine confusion) The rooms had lizards in them (which can be fun!), the AC was weak and overall it just felt quite unloved and poorly kept. The sheets were also dirty. I feel this place used to be nice but without the regular upkeep required it has fallen into not a great state. We were so disappointed we actually ended up changing hotels. Hopefully if they put some work into the rooms it will be a great hotel for future guests!

La Niche is a wonderful oasis with the kindest staff you could hope for. I have eczema so the natural pool allowed me to enjoy swimming without any flare ups as opposed to hot tubs or chlorinated pools. The water was crystal clear although it may look deceiving because of the dark bottom and sides. We ate most of our meals at the restaurant on site and the food was delicious. Pub street and river markets are close enough to walk to but far away enough to maintain its peaceful and tranquil vibe. The bed was comfortable and warm water in shower plentiful. The Wi-Fi worked well for us although we did not stream much. The front desk staff arranged our 3 days of touring the temples and set us up with Mr. Rain, our wonderful Tuk-tuk driver and guide. We spent three lovely days with him. His English was good enough for our purposes and we studied the ruins for years prior hence not needing a full-time English speaking guide. The staff is constantly clearing the grounds as the lush foliage produces leaves that fall to the ground. The pool never had debris in it as it was continuously maintained. There are mosquitos as it’s in a lush garden so reviewers complaining about that are just being whiny. Bring bug repellant if you can’t handle a mosquito bite. I have no hesitation giving La Niche my highest recommendation. And Mr. Rain our Tuk-tuk driver was awesome, warm, and kind.

A room on the ground floor completely deprives you of privacy. The curtains on the window will have to be kept closed at all times. Take only the second floor. There are a lot of mosquitoes in the evening, buy repellent. At the reception they helped me hire a motorcycle taxi; the sunset and the whole next day cost $30. The airport bus stop is three minutes from the hotel.

The environment of this hotel is pleasant with lots of greenery, plants and shrubs all over the place. It almost felt like you're in a forest. The room was decent with basic amenities. Be mindful that there could be mosquitoes in the room due to the plants

Mealea Watbo

Restaurants 195 m 2 min walk 4.9/5 on Google

Mealea Watbo is 195 m north-east of La Niche D'Angkor Boutique Hotel — about 2 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from La Niche D'Angkor Boutique Hotel are HAVEN (299 m) and Ground Zero: Martial Arts & Yoga Centre (567 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Mealea Watbo is a Cambodian restaurant on Street 26 in Siem Reap, open daily from 11 in the morning until 11 at night. The setting combines traditional and modern decoration, with both indoor and outdoor seating, and guests mention a view that adds to the experience. The menu runs through Khmer staples such as fish, chicken and soup dishes, finished with desserts like coconut ice cream served with rice jelly and watermelon.

Visitors describe the food as flavourful and well presented, with several first-time tasters of Cambodian cuisine saying they were won over from the first bite. Value for money comes up often, with more than one reviewer calling it the best they have found in Siem Reap. Staff attentiveness is a recurring theme, and one server, Kakada, is repeatedly singled out by name for her warmth, clear English and thoughtful recommendations, including relocating diners indoors when insects became a nuisance during an outdoor meal. The lone practical note is a request to remove bones from the fish soup, a small detail rather than a wider complaint.

Given the long daily hours, it suits both a casual solo dinner and a small business gathering, as one guest describes using it for a work dinner. It works equally well for travellers wanting an introduction to Khmer food and for those who already know it and want a reliable, well-run spot. With close to 1,300 reviews and a rating that sits at 4.9, it draws a steady crowd, so arriving during peak dinner hours may mean a short wait, though nothing in the reviews suggests reservations are essential. Outdoor seating is worth requesting for the view, provided you don't mind the occasional insect that comes with dining near greenery in the evening.

Parks & nature 238 m 3 min walk 4.8/5 on Google

Kulen Elephant Forest is 238 m north-west of La Niche D'Angkor Boutique Hotel — about 3 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “parks & nature”.

The next two places under “parks & nature” from La Niche D'Angkor Boutique Hotel are Royal Independence Gardens (1.2 km) and Flying Foxes (1.2 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Kulen Elephant Forest is an elephant retirement sanctuary set within a forested park outside Siem Reap, where a small number of elephants live out their later years in a natural setting rather than performing or giving rides. Visitors join a guided tour through the forest, observing and, in many cases, getting close to the elephants as they roam, bathe or feed, with mahouts and staff on hand to explain each animal's background. Lunch is included as part of the day, and transport to and from the centre is arranged for guests.

Reviews are strikingly consistent: guests repeatedly praise the guides by name, describing them as knowledgeable, funny and clearly attached to the elephants, and several mention that the mahouts treat the animals like family. The focus on retirement and rehabilitation rather than entertainment comes up often, as does the sense that the operation supports both the elephants' welfare and the local community. The pacing of the tour is mentioned favourably, with breaks built in, and food is called a highlight rather than an afterthought. The one practical caveat raised is accessibility: the terrain is not well suited to wheelchairs.

The park opens daily from 8am to 6pm, and given the nature of the visit — walking through forest terrain to spend time near the elephants — it works best for travellers who are reasonably mobile and interested in conservation rather than a quick photo stop. Families with older children and couples looking for a slower, more reflective wildlife encounter seem well suited to it, and booking a guided tour rather than turning up independently appears to be the standard way to visit.

Cafés & bakeries 263 m 3 min walk 4.8/5 on Google

The Bean Embassy Roastery & Specialty Coffee is 263 m south of La Niche D'Angkor Boutique Hotel — about 3 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “cafés & bakeries”.

The next two places under “cafés & bakeries” from La Niche D'Angkor Boutique Hotel are Dialogue (321 m) and The muffin man, Siem Reap (356 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

The Bean Embassy is a roastery-café set on the grounds of the Chocolate Garden east of Siem Reap, away from the town's busier streets. It has its own on-site roastery, a small house with plenty of surrounding green space, and both indoor and outdoor seating. The menu runs from breakfast plates, poached eggs and hollandaise among them, to pastries like almond croissants, alongside a full specialty coffee list with detailed flavour descriptions and the option to choose your coffee's strength and sweetness.

Visitors consistently rate the coffee itself very highly, describing it as rich and well-made, with attentive staff who explain the beans and offer small touches like free cookies or water alongside the order. The setting is repeatedly praised for its quiet, family-friendly, green atmosphere, a contrast to more central cafés. The recurring criticisms are the price, which some guests find high for Cambodia, and occasional slow service at busier times, along with air conditioning that has not always kept up with the heat.

It opens early, from 6am daily until 9pm, which makes it a good stop for breakfast after an overnight bus or an early start to the day. Because it sits on the Chocolate Garden grounds outside the central Pub Street area, it suits visitors looking for a slower, quieter morning or afternoon rather than a quick coffee between sightseeing stops. Bringing a book or planning to linger is worthwhile, since guests describe it as a place for sitting and relaxing rather than passing through, and it works well for couples, families, or anyone wanting a calmer alternative to the town centre's cafés.

HAVEN

Restaurants 299 m 4 min walk 4.9/5 on Google

HAVEN is 299 m south of La Niche D'Angkor Boutique Hotel — about 4 minutes on foot. It is among the three closest places to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from La Niche D'Angkor Boutique Hotel are Mealea Watbo (195 m) and Ground Zero: Martial Arts & Yoga Centre (567 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

HAVEN is a garden restaurant on Chocolate Road in Siem Reap, open daily except Monday from 10am to 10pm. It operates as a training restaurant, giving disadvantaged young adults hands-on experience in hospitality, and the owners are frequently on site, often stopping by tables to chat with guests. The menu runs from curries to salads to vegan options, alongside cocktails and coffee, served in a leafy, relaxed setting that guests describe as an oasis from the streets outside.

Reviews are strikingly consistent: visitors praise the food quality across multiple dishes, from the fish to a vegan carrot cake to a beef salad described as beautifully plated, and several mention returning more than once, including one group of twenty who noted every dish arrived together and on time. Service is repeatedly called warm and attentive, with more than one reviewer describing staff handling a problem, such as a payment issue, calmly and helpfully. The training-restaurant concept is mentioned often and clearly adds to the experience for many diners, who say knowing the purpose behind the place makes the meal feel more worthwhile.

Given the volume and consistency of praise, HAVEN suits travellers looking for a relaxed sit-down meal rather than a quick bite, including groups, couples, and anyone wanting vegan or vegetarian choices alongside more standard dishes. It is closed on Mondays, so plan around that, and the garden setting makes it a good lunch stop if you are already exploring the area rather than a destination requiring a special detour, though several guests treat it as exactly that.

Cafés & bakeries 321 m 4 min walk 4.7/5 on Google

Dialogue is 321 m north-west of La Niche D'Angkor Boutique Hotel — about 4 minutes on foot. It is among the three closest places to the hotel under “cafés & bakeries”.

The next two places under “cafés & bakeries” from La Niche D'Angkor Boutique Hotel are The Bean Embassy Roastery & Specialty Coffee (263 m) and The muffin man, Siem Reap (356 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Dialogue is a cafe on Street 27 in Siem Reap with both indoor and rooftop seating. The menu mixes western and Asian cuisines, anchored by a strong coffee program. Visitors report the espresso and lattes are among the best in town. The kitchen turns out standout dishes like fried rice and tenderloins, though some guests found other items unremarkable. Breakfast options include variations on eggs — one visitor had English muffin with poached eggs, hollandaise and bacon — though the cafe does not offer a full traditional English breakfast.

Staff are consistently praised as helpful and friendly, though there is a notable caveat. One guest mentioned that despite requesting it multiple times, their dishes arrived with bean sprouts despite a stated allergy, which raised concern for anyone with dietary restrictions or allergies. The kitchen's attention to special requests appears inconsistent. On the upside, visitors note the carbonara is rich and satisfying if you enjoy heavy sauces, though it may not suit lighter preferences.

The rooftop setting is described as chill and atmospheric, with indoor seating available too. Dialogue opens daily at 7 AM and stays open until midnight (closed Sundays), making it accessible for breakfast, coffee breaks, lunch or evening visits. Happy hour pricing makes it affordable. The location sits walking distance from Pub Street, though the daytime frontage can be hard to spot from the street — it sits on the corner of Street 26 and Wat Bo Road. This works well for anyone after reliable coffee and a casual meal, though diners with food allergies should verify orders carefully with staff.

A café on Wat Bo Road offering a wide selection of muffins, cakes and cheesecakes alongside a proper breakfast and lunch menu that includes salads, toasties and vegetable-based dishes. Coffee is made in an Australian style, and matcha and other drinks are also on offer. The interior is described as modern and calm, suited to sitting in for a while rather than a quick takeaway stop.

Visitors consistently mention the quality and freshness of the baked goods, with muffins, brownies and cheesecakes coming up again and again as standouts, alongside savoury options like lentil salad, vegetable stacks and chickpea fritters that cater well to vegetarian and vegan diets. The coffee draws particular praise for its quality. Portion sizes are called generous and prices reasonable, and staff are repeatedly described as friendly and attentive. No notable complaints or caveats appear in the reviews, and several visitors mention returning multiple times during their stay.

Open daily from 7am to 10pm, it works equally well for an early breakfast, a working lunch or a dessert stop after dinner, as one visitor used it. The range of vegetarian and vegan dishes makes it a reliable option for travellers with dietary preferences, while the mix of light meals and pastries suits anyone wanting more than just coffee. Given its popularity, arriving outside peak breakfast or lunch hours may mean an easier time finding a seat.

Laundry Bar is 387 m north-west of La Niche D'Angkor Boutique Hotel — about 5 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “bars”.

The next two places under “bars” from La Niche D'Angkor Boutique Hotel are Barcode Bar Siem Reap (567 m) and ASANA OLD WOODEN HOUSE Cocktail Bar (798 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Laundry Bar is a casual bar on Street 26 in Siem Reap with pool tables, a counter serving craft beers and cocktails, and a simple food menu. The space has the feel of a neighbourhood drinking spot rather than a tourist venue, though it draws visitors from across the world. It opens from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. daily and is known particularly for Wednesday nights, when open-mic performances bring live music to the bar.

Visitors consistently praise the social atmosphere and the mix of people you can meet there—solo travellers often mention it as an easy place to strike up conversations with expats and locals. Pool games are a draw, and those who attend Wednesday's open-mic night tend to be enthusiastic about the music and talent on display. Reviewers highlight the craft beer selection and cocktail quality. One note: some visitors report limited drink variety and have found the venue's responsiveness to orders inconsistent on quieter nights. Non-drinkers may find the mocktail selection thin.

The bar suits anyone looking for a low-key evening with other travellers and a chance to play pool or listen to live music. Wednesday is the night to go if you want a fuller room and live performances. Arrive after 4 p.m. It works best if you're prepared to order drinks readily and engage with the crowd; it is less ideal if you prefer a quieter table experience or need a wide range of non-alcoholic options.

Ground Zero: Martial Arts & Yoga Centre is 567 m south of La Niche D'Angkor Boutique Hotel — about 7 minutes on foot. It is among the three closest places to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from La Niche D'Angkor Boutique Hotel are Mealea Watbo (195 m) and HAVEN (299 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

This is primarily a martial arts and yoga training centre in Siem Reap that also runs a small cafe for members and visitors, serving fresh meals, coconut water and smoothies under the guidance of a chef who co-owns the place. The centre offers disciplines including Bjj, Kun Khmer and Bokator, alongside yoga and movement classes, plus facilities such as an ice bath. Longer stays are possible too, including a 28-day retreat format.

Guests consistently describe a welcoming, community-driven atmosphere where newcomers are folded in quickly by both staff and other trainees, even if they arrive nervous or with no prior experience. Coaches are praised individually for distinct teaching styles and personalities, which reviewers say keeps training varied rather than repetitive. The food served on site comes up often and favourably, described as fresh and appealing rather than an afterthought to the training. No significant complaints or caveats appear in the available reviews.

This suits travellers looking to combine a stay in Siem Reap with structured physical activity, whether that is a single drop-in class, a short course, or the longer 28-day retreat. It is less a conventional restaurant stop and more a training base with a cafe attached, so visitors coming purely for a meal should expect the food to be secondary to the martial arts and yoga programming. Opening hours run from 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM Monday through Friday, with shorter hours on Saturday and Sunday, so it is worth checking the schedule for specific classes before turning up, particularly for popular sessions like the ice bath or Kun Khmer training.
