La Java Bleue Kampot is a boutique hotel in the heart of Kampot's colonial heritage centre, housed in a beautifully restored French colonial building. The rooms are thoughtfully curated with authentic decor, including Khmer-themed options featuring original artwork. The owner, Pascal, has transformed his family home into a welcoming hotel that combines period charm with modern comfort.
The hotel serves fresh breakfasts daily, including galettes and crêpes. Everything within the neighbourhood—laundry, massage, motorbike rental, restaurants and bars—sits within 500 metres. It suits travellers seeking an immersive experience in Kampot's living history rather than isolated riverside or poolside retreats.

Thank you
I stayed three nights at Hotel La Java Bleue, in the Khmer-themed room, which featured a hanging canvas of Pascal Prom’s original work depicting a classical Apsara dancer.
The hotel is located right in the heart of Kampot’s colonial heritage centre. While there are plenty of picturesque resorts at all price levels out of town, set on the river or with pools but if you want to feel the living history of Kampot, this is the place.
The room was clearly curated, not fussy, not kitsch, just incredibly tasteful and with a real nod to heritage. The building itself is a beautifully restored French colonial property, and that sense of history runs through everything. Rooms are well appointed with tea and coffee facilities, a spacious bathroom, and the added practicality of a separate toilet.
Pascal’s artistic background is evident throughout. His work appears in subtle, thoughtful ways, hand-painted vignettes of birds tucked beneath lighting, bespoke printed cushions and repurposed antique furniture. Nothing feels overdone, but nothing is accidental either.
The level of cleanliness can only be described as spotless, which is no small feat for a heritage building in a Cambodian city in the dry season. Daily room cleaning was immaculate.
Security is well thought out. There’s no around-the-clock guard, but guests are given a key to the front door, which adds to the feeling of staying in a private home rather than a hotel.
Breakfast was perfectly in tune with the setting…very continental.
What a fabulous place. Quiet, perfectly appointment. Staff lovely and attentive. Breakfast was gorgeous. Perfect place for all of Kampot. Highly recommended.
