About Khmer Village Hostel

Khmer Village Hostel is a hostel at No.110BEo, St. 136, Khan Daun Penh, Sangkat Psa Kandal 2, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Its double rooms are private, with an en-suite bathroom, air conditioning, a hot shower, and towels and toiletries provided.

Rooms come in two forms, with a window or without one, and the windowless rooms are the cheaper choice. Where there is a window, the outlook is onto the building next door and a neighbouring tin roof rather than a view, so the price difference matters more than the glass. The hostel also runs a visa extension service, used by guests and non-guests alike, charging $50 per person and keeping applicants updated on the status of the application.

The setting is central, with the Central Market and the riverfront both within walking distance and many other points of interest reachable on foot. This suits budget-minded travellers who want a private, air...

Good to know

Check-in is straightforward. Rooms can be booked with or without a window, and the windowless option costs less. The hostel's visa extension service is priced at $50 per person, and staff pass on updates while an application is in progress.

The staff were unsatisfactory because they behaved rudely when I asked questions related to the hotel.

Easy check in. Air con worked well. Shower 🚿 fine. Not the cleanest. I got “upgraded” to a room with a window. Could not see anything but a tin roof with cats 🐈 that were Noisy ? busy chasing rats at night? and the building next to us. I did not find the window 🪟 helpful or necessary

In a nutshell. Stuff is doing what they can for you. Place on the map is good. Price is low. But it seems that the owner definitely wants only to take money, but invest. I would ignore the old AC, dirty walls, or bedding bought years ago. But dozens of cockroaches under the bed that it's pushing you to sleep with lights on... Too much for me

We had a double room with ensuite, air con, towels, toiletries. We had a hot shower! 👌 We opted for a cheaper option of a windowless room. The rooms are nice and quiet despite the location being central, lots of things are in easy walking distance. The owner is so friendly and helpful but not pushy which we really appreciate. Would highly recommend staying here, good price for good location.

We used their Visa extension service which was very good. They were very helpful and updated us about the status. And for $50 per Person it is also very fair (we asked 5-6 places and it was always between 50 and 75 USD). We did not stay there because we already had a booking for a place close by. So we cannot rate the rooms. But it looks very clean and it's well organized so I would guess they are good too. And the location is very good, between the central market and the river front.

EE-cafe is 46.6 km west of Khmer Village Hostel — a short ride rather than a walk.

This countryside café in Kirirom offers coffee in a spacious, clean setting. Visitors find it a peaceful spot with functioning facilities, though it serves drinks rather than food. The atmosphere appeals to those seeking a quiet break in a rural location.

Guests consistently highlight the coffee quality and reasonable prices, along with the cleanliness of the space and toilets. Several mention the peacefulness of the setting. One visitor noted the limitation that food is not served here, only beverages, which is worth knowing if you plan a longer stop. The overall feedback suggests a straightforward, functional café rather than a destination venue.

The café suits travellers passing through Kirirom who want a coffee break without fanfare, or anyone seeking a calm spot away from busier areas. Go expecting coffee and a quiet atmosphere, not a meal or elaborate service. The rural location means it works best as a planned stop rather than a casual drop-in.
