Harvest House

Ancle Hai Hotpot is 2.1 km north-east of Harvest House — about 26 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from Harvest House are Xiao Ge Hot Pot (2.5 km) and Maloop (3.2 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

A hotpot restaurant on Street 257 in Phnom Penh, run on a buffet format where diners help themselves to a wide spread of meats, vegetables, dumplings, meatballs and sauces to cook at their own table. The menu is set around a fixed price rather than à la carte ordering, and there is an ice cream machine among the extras, though several visitors mention it is often out of order or not yet ready when they want it.

Guests are consistently positive about the quality of the ingredients, describing the meat and vegetables as fresh and the soup base as flavourful, with the meatballs and dumplings singled out more than once as favourites. The price is repeatedly called affordable for what is included, and the staff are described as friendly and attentive to hygiene. The recurring complaint is about time and crowds: the restaurant gets busy, tables often mean waiting in line, food can arrive slowly once seated, and each sitting is capped at around 90 minutes, which some diners find tight given the wait to get in.

Given the queues, it suits visitors who can go outside peak meal times or who are prepared to wait a little for a table. It is open daily from 11 in the morning to 10 at night, so both lunch and dinner sittings are possible. It works well for groups or friends wanting a casual, self-serve hotpot meal at a reasonable price, but those in a hurry, or hoping for quick table turnover, should factor in the possibility of a line and a slower-than-expected start to the meal.

Xiao Ge Hot Pot is 2.5 km east of Harvest House — a short ride rather than a walk. It is among the three closest places to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from Harvest House are Ancle Hai Hotpot (2.1 km) and Maloop (3.2 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Xiao Ge Hot Pot is an all-you-can-eat Chinese hot pot buffet in central Phnom Penh where diners cook broths and ingredients at their table. The restaurant operates daily from 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM and seats both individuals and larger groups. The menu centres on a choice of broth bases — collagen soup is complimentary, while tomato, Sichuan, or mushroom broth costs extra. Meat selections include various cuts and meatballs, with vegetables and sausages also available. Soft drinks and ice cream are included, and service dessert is self-serve.

Visitors consistently praise the variety and affordability of the buffet, noting the friendly staff and reasonable pricing around $7.80 per person before broth upgrades. Several regulars report returning without disappointment. However, wait times are a frequent caveat — expect delays during busy periods, both for seating and for meat orders to arrive. Some visitors report slow service in replenishing items on the conveyor belt and one account mentions cleanliness issues including flies and uncleaned tables, though this appears to be an outlier among the broader feedback.

Xiao Ge suits those with flexible schedules who can absorb wait times, particularly groups looking for shared dining at modest cost. Come outside peak hours if you prefer a shorter wait. Note that the restaurant does not provide complimentary water, though soft drinks are included. There are no karaoke rooms on-site if that was a draw.

Siso Bakery is 3.1 km east of Harvest House — a short ride rather than a walk. It is the closest place to the hotel under “cafés & bakeries”.

The next two places under “cafés & bakeries” from Harvest House are Toto by Chi Chi ~ coffee, matcha & treats (sen sok) ☁️✨ (3.3 km) and STABLE Coffee & Bakery (4.2 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Siso Bakery sits on Street 350 in the BKK1 area of Phnom Penh, a bakery-café built around a display case of carefully finished cakes and pastries alongside a full coffee and drinks menu. The interior draws on a vintage, nostalgic decor in orange and brown tones, with staff in matching uniforms, and it has enough seating to function as a proper sit-down café rather than a grab-and-go counter.

Visitors consistently praise the presentation of the cakes and pastries, singling out the croissants for their buttery aroma and the matcha drinks as well made. The atmosphere and the warmth of the staff come up often, with several people describing it as a calm, cozy escape from the street outside. The recurring caveat is price: cupcakes and specialty drinks are seen by some as expensive for what they are, and one recent visit reported an inconsistent cappuccino and limited options like no plain sugar, only syrup, alongside a redo served in a paper cup. So execution can vary, even if the reputation for good pastries generally holds.

Go for breakfast or a mid-morning coffee, since opening is early at 6:30 AM and it runs through to 7:00 PM daily, which also makes it workable for an afternoon pastry break. Expect it to be busy, as it is one of the better known bakeries in Phnom Penh with limited comparable competition at the same level, so seating can fill up. It suits people looking for a proper coffee-and-cake sit-down rather than the cheapest option in the neighborhood, and those prepared to pay a premium for the setting and presentation.

Maloop is 3.2 km south-east of Harvest House — a short ride rather than a walk. It is among the three closest places to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from Harvest House are Ancle Hai Hotpot (2.1 km) and Xiao Ge Hot Pot (2.5 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Maloop is a garden restaurant in Phnom Penh where dining happens among massive trees and dense vegetation. The space is built around the greenery rather than imposed upon it, with open-air seating under shade and intentional corner arrangements that offer both comfort and a sense of seclusion despite being central to the city. The restaurant provides practical amenities like wifi, electricity outlets, and ceiling fans, making it functional for those wanting to work or linger. It welcomes children and pets.

Visitors consistently praise the atmosphere as a rare pocket of nature and quiet in an urban setting. The food receives repeated positive mention, though reviews focus more on the experience than specific dishes. The main caveat is crowds on weekends—several visitors note that booking tables in advance is advisable if coming with a group. The serene environment and reliable service draw repeat customers who keep returning to order the same dishes, suggesting consistency matters here.

The restaurant is closed Mondays and opens from 9 AM on other days, closing at 10:30 PM Tuesday through Saturday and 10 PM on Sunday. It works for solo travellers wanting a peaceful place to work or eat, families seeking a green space with children, and groups planning ahead to secure seating. The combination of good food, functional workspace amenities, and garden setting appeals to visitors seeking respite rather than nightlife or speed.

This cafe on Street 1966 in Phnom Penh serves coffee, matcha drinks, and desserts in a space decorated with capybara plushies and designed for comfort. Visitors find it cozy and well-cooled, with soft seating that encourages lingering. The menu includes mochi, cheesecake, and specialty drinks like matcha lattes and hojicha. It opens daily from 7 AM, staying open until 8:30 PM most evenings.

Guests consistently praise the atmosphere and the friendliness of staff, who are quick to correct order mistakes. The drinks and desserts draw regular comments for being well-made and tasty. However, the cafe divides opinion on price: some find it reasonable for the quality, while others consider it expensive. Service speed varies across visits—some diners experience prompt service, others find it slow. A few visitors note that certain drinks, particularly sugar-free options, can taste bland or underwhelming. Sunday evenings draw crowds that make seating difficult.

The cafe works best as a daytime spot for working or a relaxed weekend visit, though arriving earlier may help avoid the weekend crush. It suits coffee and matcha enthusiasts, families with children (the plushie decor appeals to kids), and anyone wanting a comfortable place to spend an hour or two. Go in with moderate expectations about pricing and drink consistency, particularly if ordering without sugar.

WIP Zone is 3.4 km north-east of Harvest House — a short ride rather than a walk. It is the closest place to the hotel under “bars”.

The next two places under “bars” from Harvest House are HighGround Sky Bar TK (3.9 km) and The WATERS Pub and Eatery (4.2 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

WIP Zone is a bar on Street 566 in Phnom Penh's central area, open from 4 PM to midnight daily except Sunday. The venue features live bands and singers, with an open-air section that gives it a casual outdoor feel. The décor is described as simple and creative, and both food and drinks are reasonably priced. The crowd tends toward an older demographic, mostly in their late twenties and above.

Visitors consistently praise the atmosphere and the quality of the live music, with multiple reviewers noting the friendliness of the band members and the good vibes for relaxed listening. Food and drinks receive positive mentions as decent and satisfying options. However, noise is a significant concern: one reviewer raised serious complaints about the volume of the music and its impact on neighbouring residents, suggesting that this matters if you're staying nearby. Friday nights draw noticeably larger crowds, so expect a busier experience then.

The bar suits those looking for live music in a casual, affordable setting with an older crowd. Visit on weekdays or early in the week if you prefer a quieter atmosphere. The open-air layout makes it pleasant for evening hours, particularly once the temperature drops after sunset. It's the kind of place to settle in for an evening of local music rather than a quick drink.

Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum is 3.5 km east of Harvest House — a short ride rather than a walk. It is the closest place to the hotel under “museums & galleries”.

The next two places under “museums & galleries” from Harvest House are National Museum of Cambodia (5.0 km) and SOSORO - Preah Srey Içanavarman Museum (5.1 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum occupies the compound of a former Khmer Rouge prison and interrogation center in central Phnom Penh. Visitors move through classroom buildings that once held prisoners, viewing photographs, documents, and personal belongings. The museum preserves the physical space where tens of thousands were detained and interrogated during the late 1970s. The building itself—with its sparse rooms and recording equipment still visible—forms part of the historical record.

Most visitors describe the experience as deeply moving and historically significant. Many emphasize that an audio guide, available for an additional five dollars, substantially enhances the visit by providing context and detailed accounts of individual prisoners' stories. Visitors consistently note the emotional weight of encountering thousands of mugshots displayed on the walls—each photograph representing a person who was numbered and catalogued before execution. Some mention that despite the audio guide's quality, certain details about the violence were not included, which a few visitors felt limited their understanding of what occurred. Occasionally, visitors report meeting survivors on site, a rare opportunity that deepens the experience beyond the museum's physical contents.

The museum is open daily from 8 AM to 5 PM and charges a five dollar entrance fee. Most visitors recommend allowing several hours for a thorough visit, particularly if using the audio guide. This is a site focused on historical education and remembrance rather than entertainment; it suits visitors seeking to understand Cambodia's recent history and those interested in genocide studies and remembrance. Many note the visit is emotionally demanding but consider it an important part of understanding Cambodia's past.

Go Gym Cambodia is 3.6 km north of Harvest House — a short ride rather than a walk. It is the closest place to the hotel under “sport & fitness”.

The other place under “sport & fitness” within reach of Harvest House is Phnom Penh Crown Stadium (6.1 km).

Go Gym Cambodia is a full-service fitness facility in Phnom Penh's Toul Kork area, located at the corner of Streets 544 and 335. The gym houses cardio and weight equipment including a power rack and Olympic platform, along with group fitness classes covering yoga, HIIT, and bootcamp. Facilities extend to a rooftop swimming pool, showers with hot water, and what visitors describe as clean, well-maintained spaces throughout.

Visitors consistently praise the quality of equipment, noting it includes newer Life Fitness machines, and the cleanliness of the facility. The rooftop pool and variety of group classes attract regular members. However, the pricing draws mixed reactions: monthly membership runs around USD 120, which some find steep compared to gyms in the United States offering similar facilities, though weekend passes are available at USD 20 for Saturday and Sunday. One consistent complaint concerns the volume of music in the gym, which several visitors found unnecessarily loud during workouts.

The gym operates daily from 6 am to 9 pm, making early morning and evening sessions available. It suits those seeking comprehensive facilities with professional-grade equipment and group fitness options, though budget-conscious visitors may want to explore the weekend pass option before committing to a full membership. The rooftop pool is recreational rather than lap-pool standard, so swimmers training for distance should note this limitation.
