I spent 2 weeks at this hotel and had such a wonderful stay. The team is absolutely incredible, so caring, attentive, and always making sure guests feel comfortable with thoughtful little gestures. The swimming pool is amazingly large and perfect for truly relaxing moments. The restaurant offers delicious cocktails, each one as good as the next, along with refined and flavorful cuisine. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the bedding is very comfortable. Honestly, everything is designed to make your stay unforgettable. A huge thank you to the entire team for their kindness and hospitality. I would gladly come back again !

We had a great experience at the Golden Temple Hotel. The hotel had everything we needed in the perfect location. What really makes the stay with them is the staff and the service they provide. From the moment we were taken to the wrong Golden Temple Hotel (the tuk tuk driver took us to the Golden Temple residence) to the moment we left. Cici in reception was always super helpful going over and above with every interaction. The restaurant staff were amazing too, especially the young pair on the morning shift (apologies we did not get your names). It felt like 5 days of truely being spoilt! Thank you to the whole team at the hotel, every one of you are great and a credit to the Golden Temple brand. I wish we never had to leave. Food was always amazing, 5 minutes from pub street on foot, comfy beds and strong Aircon!

Extremely Disappointing – I Cannot Understand the High Ratings After reading all the glowing reviews, I expected a very good hotel. Unfortunately, my actual experience was completely different, and I genuinely cannot understand how this hotel has received so many exceptionally positive reviews. My room had a balcony, but the “view” was literally a wall directly in front of it. There was no real view whatsoever, making the balcony completely pointless. Even worse, my room was located next to an area used by the cleaning staff, and noise started as early as 5–6 a.m. Being disturbed at that hour is simply unacceptable when staying at a hotel. The breakfast was by far one of the worst aspects of my stay. I have travelled extensively and stayed in hotels in many countries, but I honestly struggle to remember a hotel breakfast this poor. The selection was extremely limited and the quality was disappointing. Limp bacon, a few unappealing pieces of cold cuts, and generally very little that I wanted to eat. I would not serve some of this food in my own home, let alone expect it at a hotel with ratings this high. Housekeeping was another disappointment. The room was not automatically serviced; you had to request it. And even when housekeeping came, my impression was that only the things specifically requested were dealt with, while other things were simply left as they were. There was also an extremely unpleasant smell coming from the bathroom, which made the experience even worse

Excellent boutique hotel in Siem Reap. The room was spacious and well equipped, and the amenities were kept in good shape. The staff was very friendly and helped coordinate early morning breakfssts, as well as a tuk-tuk for the temples. Breakfast was good not great, but I didn't try the restaurant for other meals. Location is convenient - walkable to many of the downtown Siem Reap activities and with a grocery store a block down the street

The muffin man, Siem Reap

Cafés & bakeries 196 m 2 min walk 4.8/5 on Google

The muffin man, Siem Reap is 196 m north-west of Golden Temple Hotel — about 2 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “cafés & bakeries”.

The next two places under “cafés & bakeries” from Golden Temple Hotel are Dialogue (227 m) and The Bean Embassy Roastery & Specialty Coffee (315 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

A café on Wat Bo Road offering a wide selection of muffins, cakes and cheesecakes alongside a proper breakfast and lunch menu that includes salads, toasties and vegetable-based dishes. Coffee is made in an Australian style, and matcha and other drinks are also on offer. The interior is described as modern and calm, suited to sitting in for a while rather than a quick takeaway stop.

Visitors consistently mention the quality and freshness of the baked goods, with muffins, brownies and cheesecakes coming up again and again as standouts, alongside savoury options like lentil salad, vegetable stacks and chickpea fritters that cater well to vegetarian and vegan diets. The coffee draws particular praise for its quality. Portion sizes are called generous and prices reasonable, and staff are repeatedly described as friendly and attentive. No notable complaints or caveats appear in the reviews, and several visitors mention returning multiple times during their stay.

Open daily from 7am to 10pm, it works equally well for an early breakfast, a working lunch or a dessert stop after dinner, as one visitor used it. The range of vegetarian and vegan dishes makes it a reliable option for travellers with dietary preferences, while the mix of light meals and pastries suits anyone wanting more than just coffee. Given its popularity, arriving outside peak breakfast or lunch hours may mean an easier time finding a seat.

Dialogue

Cafés & bakeries 227 m 3 min walk 4.7/5 on Google

Dialogue is 227 m north of Golden Temple Hotel — about 3 minutes on foot. It is among the three closest places to the hotel under “cafés & bakeries”.

The next two places under “cafés & bakeries” from Golden Temple Hotel are The muffin man, Siem Reap (196 m) and The Bean Embassy Roastery & Specialty Coffee (315 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Dialogue is a cafe on Street 27 in Siem Reap with both indoor and rooftop seating. The menu mixes western and Asian cuisines, anchored by a strong coffee program. Visitors report the espresso and lattes are among the best in town. The kitchen turns out standout dishes like fried rice and tenderloins, though some guests found other items unremarkable. Breakfast options include variations on eggs — one visitor had English muffin with poached eggs, hollandaise and bacon — though the cafe does not offer a full traditional English breakfast.

Staff are consistently praised as helpful and friendly, though there is a notable caveat. One guest mentioned that despite requesting it multiple times, their dishes arrived with bean sprouts despite a stated allergy, which raised concern for anyone with dietary restrictions or allergies. The kitchen's attention to special requests appears inconsistent. On the upside, visitors note the carbonara is rich and satisfying if you enjoy heavy sauces, though it may not suit lighter preferences.

The rooftop setting is described as chill and atmospheric, with indoor seating available too. Dialogue opens daily at 7 AM and stays open until midnight (closed Sundays), making it accessible for breakfast, coffee breaks, lunch or evening visits. Happy hour pricing makes it affordable. The location sits walking distance from Pub Street, though the daytime frontage can be hard to spot from the street — it sits on the corner of Street 26 and Wat Bo Road. This works well for anyone after reliable coffee and a casual meal, though diners with food allergies should verify orders carefully with staff.

Parks & nature 234 m 3 min walk 4.8/5 on Google

Kulen Elephant Forest is 234 m north of Golden Temple Hotel — about 3 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “parks & nature”.

The next two places under “parks & nature” from Golden Temple Hotel are Royal Independence Gardens (1.2 km) and Flying Foxes (1.2 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Kulen Elephant Forest is an elephant retirement sanctuary set within a forested park outside Siem Reap, where a small number of elephants live out their later years in a natural setting rather than performing or giving rides. Visitors join a guided tour through the forest, observing and, in many cases, getting close to the elephants as they roam, bathe or feed, with mahouts and staff on hand to explain each animal's background. Lunch is included as part of the day, and transport to and from the centre is arranged for guests.

Reviews are strikingly consistent: guests repeatedly praise the guides by name, describing them as knowledgeable, funny and clearly attached to the elephants, and several mention that the mahouts treat the animals like family. The focus on retirement and rehabilitation rather than entertainment comes up often, as does the sense that the operation supports both the elephants' welfare and the local community. The pacing of the tour is mentioned favourably, with breaks built in, and food is called a highlight rather than an afterthought. The one practical caveat raised is accessibility: the terrain is not well suited to wheelchairs.

The park opens daily from 8am to 6pm, and given the nature of the visit — walking through forest terrain to spend time near the elephants — it works best for travellers who are reasonably mobile and interested in conservation rather than a quick photo stop. Families with older children and couples looking for a slower, more reflective wildlife encounter seem well suited to it, and booking a guided tour rather than turning up independently appears to be the standard way to visit.

Bars 278 m 3 min walk 4.6/5 on Google

Laundry Bar is 278 m north of Golden Temple Hotel — about 3 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “bars”.

The next two places under “bars” from Golden Temple Hotel are Barcode Bar Siem Reap (459 m) and Ambar Cocktails & Karaoke Bar (598 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Laundry Bar is a casual bar on Street 26 in Siem Reap with pool tables, a counter serving craft beers and cocktails, and a simple food menu. The space has the feel of a neighbourhood drinking spot rather than a tourist venue, though it draws visitors from across the world. It opens from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. daily and is known particularly for Wednesday nights, when open-mic performances bring live music to the bar.

Visitors consistently praise the social atmosphere and the mix of people you can meet there—solo travellers often mention it as an easy place to strike up conversations with expats and locals. Pool games are a draw, and those who attend Wednesday's open-mic night tend to be enthusiastic about the music and talent on display. Reviewers highlight the craft beer selection and cocktail quality. One note: some visitors report limited drink variety and have found the venue's responsiveness to orders inconsistent on quieter nights. Non-drinkers may find the mocktail selection thin.

The bar suits anyone looking for a low-key evening with other travellers and a chance to play pool or listen to live music. Wednesday is the night to go if you want a fuller room and live performances. Arrive after 4 p.m. It works best if you're prepared to order drinks readily and engage with the crowd; it is less ideal if you prefer a quieter table experience or need a wide range of non-alcoholic options.

The Bean Embassy Roastery & Specialty Coffee

Cafés & bakeries 315 m 4 min walk 4.8/5 on Google

The Bean Embassy Roastery & Specialty Coffee is 315 m south-east of Golden Temple Hotel — about 4 minutes on foot. Of the 5 places under “cafés & bakeries” within a kilometre of the hotel, this is the best rated.

The next two places under “cafés & bakeries” from Golden Temple Hotel are The muffin man, Siem Reap (196 m) and Dialogue (227 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

The Bean Embassy is a roastery-café set on the grounds of the Chocolate Garden east of Siem Reap, away from the town's busier streets. It has its own on-site roastery, a small house with plenty of surrounding green space, and both indoor and outdoor seating. The menu runs from breakfast plates, poached eggs and hollandaise among them, to pastries like almond croissants, alongside a full specialty coffee list with detailed flavour descriptions and the option to choose your coffee's strength and sweetness.

Visitors consistently rate the coffee itself very highly, describing it as rich and well-made, with attentive staff who explain the beans and offer small touches like free cookies or water alongside the order. The setting is repeatedly praised for its quiet, family-friendly, green atmosphere, a contrast to more central cafés. The recurring criticisms are the price, which some guests find high for Cambodia, and occasional slow service at busier times, along with air conditioning that has not always kept up with the heat.

It opens early, from 6am daily until 9pm, which makes it a good stop for breakfast after an overnight bus or an early start to the day. Because it sits on the Chocolate Garden grounds outside the central Pub Street area, it suits visitors looking for a slower, quieter morning or afternoon rather than a quick coffee between sightseeing stops. Bringing a book or planning to linger is worthwhile, since guests describe it as a place for sitting and relaxing rather than passing through, and it works well for couples, families, or anyone wanting a calmer alternative to the town centre's cafés.

HAVEN

Restaurants 318 m 4 min walk 4.9/5 on Google

HAVEN is 318 m south-east of Golden Temple Hotel — about 4 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from Golden Temple Hotel are Fellini Siem Reap (374 m) and Mealea Watbo (433 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

HAVEN is a garden restaurant on Chocolate Road in Siem Reap, open daily except Monday from 10am to 10pm. It operates as a training restaurant, giving disadvantaged young adults hands-on experience in hospitality, and the owners are frequently on site, often stopping by tables to chat with guests. The menu runs from curries to salads to vegan options, alongside cocktails and coffee, served in a leafy, relaxed setting that guests describe as an oasis from the streets outside.

Reviews are strikingly consistent: visitors praise the food quality across multiple dishes, from the fish to a vegan carrot cake to a beef salad described as beautifully plated, and several mention returning more than once, including one group of twenty who noted every dish arrived together and on time. Service is repeatedly called warm and attentive, with more than one reviewer describing staff handling a problem, such as a payment issue, calmly and helpfully. The training-restaurant concept is mentioned often and clearly adds to the experience for many diners, who say knowing the purpose behind the place makes the meal feel more worthwhile.

Given the volume and consistency of praise, HAVEN suits travellers looking for a relaxed sit-down meal rather than a quick bite, including groups, couples, and anyone wanting vegan or vegetarian choices alongside more standard dishes. It is closed on Mondays, so plan around that, and the garden setting makes it a good lunch stop if you are already exploring the area rather than a destination requiring a special detour, though several guests treat it as exactly that.

Sights 359 m 4 min walk 4.4/5 on Google

Old Market Bridge is 359 m north-west of Golden Temple Hotel — about 4 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “sights”.

The next two places under “sights” from Golden Temple Hotel are Pub Street (559 m) and The Living Arts Village by Artisans Angkor (740 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

This pedestrian bridge stands at the heart of Siem Reap's riverfront district, adjacent to the Old Market and offering direct access to the surrounding riverbank. The bridge itself is modest in structure but serves as a hub for the evening economy—restaurants, food stalls, and small shops line the water's edge, and the area is lit in the evenings. From the bridge you can see neighboring structures including an art bridge nearby, and the wider riverside promenade allows for a walking loop through the commercial quarter.

Visitors consistently highlight the bridge as an evening destination rather than a daytime sight. The riverside atmosphere at night draws particular praise, with the decorative lighting and restaurant activity creating what guests describe as lively surroundings. The food stalls serve local street dishes and fresh produce, though multiple visitors note that bargaining skill is expected if you plan to purchase. A practical caveat appears in several reviews: the bridge handles vehicle traffic, so caution is needed when walking, particularly if focusing on photographs.

The bridge suits anyone exploring downtown Siem Reap in the evening or hunting for local food experiences. It's open around the clock, so there's no timing restriction, though the atmosphere is most active after dark. The location is central enough that most visitors exploring the city center will encounter it organically. The nearby Old Market offers conventional shopping but requires negotiation; the bridge and riverside are better for casual browsing and eating without the same pressure to transact.

An Italian restaurant on Bamboo Street in Siem Reap, serving pizza and pasta alongside a full separate vegan menu, with cocktails and dessert also on offer. The setting is elegant and relaxing enough to be remembered for the atmosphere as much as the food, and it is open daily from late morning into the evening.

Guests are consistently enthusiastic, with a very high volume of reviews backing up the praise. Pizza and pasta dishes such as papardelle come up repeatedly as fresh and well presented, and the vegan menu is singled out more than once as unexpectedly extensive and well executed. Service is a recurring theme too, with individual staff members and managers thanked by name for attentiveness, including small touches like a complimentary birthday dessert or keeping a toddler entertained at the table. Several visitors mention returning more than once during a single stay in Siem Reap, and more than one comparison is made favourably against actual restaurants in Italy. No significant complaints or caveats appear in the feedback.

Given how often repeat visits are mentioned, arriving without a reservation on a busy evening could mean a wait, so booking ahead for dinner is worth considering. It suits couples, families with children, and anyone travelling with dietary restrictions, given the dedicated vegan options. The combination of Western comfort food, wine and cocktails, and attentive service makes it a reasonable choice for a night that steps away from Khmer cuisine, whether for a casual meal or something closer to a celebration.
