Attention: Fake good reviews / overpriced accommodation - all dirty, no service We are travelling for more than 3 months through south east asia and this was our only bad hotel so far. We are not picky and can forgive if the place is not perfectly clean but not for a price like this. Starting that you need to take your shoes off in the hall way just to get your feet all black, to the incompetent staff who doesn’t do anything all day long and is not able to help. The included breakfast was disgusting. The food was delivered by the staff via scooter, came in cold and oily and we needed to wait 20 minutes in the dirty breakfast room. There was no coffee or tea either. This is a 4 star accommodation. Also in the first night we had loud music and people in front of our room. We are not sure if they belonged to the hotel, if they were guests, family or friends. But when we complained the stuff didn’t understand a thing. In general there is no one from the staff (if you find them) to help you or even show interest. For toilet paper we needed to write to the owner in booking. The hotel doesn’t match the photos they present on booking.com for the common areas, like pool, reception, breakfast room and so on. You can see a true version uploaded along with my honest review. I know the owner will respond to my review and will try everything to make me look the fool here as he did with previous bad reviews, even insulting the French guest who just spoke out the truth. In fact most of the

CLEARLY A SCAM We booked 5 nights in this “4-star” hotel. As soon as you arrive, you can see the place is run-down and looks nothing like the photos. We carefully re-read the reviews and realized that most of the comments are FAKE. They create fake accounts themselves to give the hotel the highest ratings. The room was ok, but the common areas were extremely dirty and neglected. They didn’t clean the floors in the common areas for 5 days, yet they tell you to take off your shoes. On Booking, they also claim there are 2 pools, 2 restaurants, spa service, and many other lies. Breakfast was bought from a nearby restaurant — cold and without any drinks. All our complaints were ignored. We stay so we wouldn't lose de money. Clearly a scam. If you offer good service, you don’t need to post fake reviews to deceive people and turn your 1-star hotel into what you call a 4-star one.

We booked a private room in the villa for 8 nights however only ended up staying 2 of the 8. Upon arrival we were informed that the full villa had been booked so we would be staying in a different room for the first 3 nights. The room we were given was considerably smaller with a tiny enclosed outdoor space with no seating or view. We requested to change to a balcony room as the whole purpose of booking was for the private outdoor space. The room hadn't been properly cleaned and there were hairs on the floor and bed, towels were tatty and worn, the balcony door didn't lock securely and the air con didn't work properly, even set to the coldest setting the room was too hot. Staff were not helpful and on our 2nd night we were kept up by neighbours (including some of the hotel staff) chatting and drinking into the early hours. Not a pleasant or relaxing stay at all.

Not as advertised. Dirty rooms and bad service. I’ve photos of all issues and can put them here - I expect the management will dismiss my review and if so I’ll fade all the photos that look dreadful. We booked via Agoda and left a review about our experience but it’s not been posted! Hence leaving a review here to warn other travellers. The issues included: - room was not cleaned, it had dirty stained sheets with human’s hair; rubbish left behind in the trash can by other guests; stains (blood?) on curtains; dust on floor and shelves, dirty bathroom door mat with many old stains; stained cushions; no mattress protector on the bed and too small sheet that was stained and dirty; stains on walls; no mosquitoes nets on windows; - Swimming pool was full of leaves and rubbish - Common spaces like the corridor were covered in thick dust When we reported the first issue to the hotel staff, dirty bed sheets, these were changed but we were given clean bedsheets that had holes in them and were ripped. As we discovered all the other issues by then we decided to contact Agoda to ask for a refund as we didn’t want to stay there. The hotel refused to refund but upgraded us to a better room - yet this was still dusty. Second and third day we didn’t have hot water. I’d not ever stay there again. Location is bad far away from everything. Roads leading to the hotel are dusty. Terrible stay and we do not recommend anybody to stay there. The staff is nice but the property needs an upgrade / deep

Aum Yoga Center, Siem Reap, Cambodia

Sport & fitness 224 m 3 min walk 5.0/5 on Google

Aum Yoga Center, Siem Reap, Cambodia is 224 m north of Angkor Rithy boutique — about 3 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “sport & fitness”.

The other place under “sport & fitness” within reach of Angkor Rithy boutique is MR.LY Gym and Boxing (2.3 km).

Aum Yoga Center sits on the grounds of Angkor Grace in Siem Reap and offers a full studio setup rather than a single yoga room: showers, lockers, a bathroom, drinking water, books and sofas for lingering before or after class. The schedule runs across styles — Hatha, Vinyasa, aerial yoga, aqua yoga and sound-focused sessions that use crystal bowls, chanting or a teacher's voice during shavasana, sometimes from hammocks. The space itself is designed around greenery and natural materials, giving it a calmer, more resort-like feel than a typical studio.

Visitors consistently single out two things: the cleanliness of the facility, down to guests noting their feet stay clean after barefoot practice, and the quality of the teachers, described repeatedly as professional, attentive and patient with beginners. The aerial yoga class comes up often, with newcomers saying the instructors make the inversions feel manageable rather than intimidating. Several guests who took daily morning classes during their stay describe the routine as genuinely energizing, and one mentions considering relocating to Siem Reap partly because of the center. No complaints or caveats surface in the reviews gathered here.

It is open daily from 7:30 in the morning to 7 in the evening, which allows for an early class before sightseeing or a later one to unwind. Given the range of styles offered, it suits both regular practitioners looking to keep a routine going while travelling and first-timers curious about aerial or aqua yoga in a low-pressure setting. Reviewers who attended multiple sessions in a single week suggest it rewards repeat visits rather than a single drop-in, so travellers with a few days in Siem Reap are likely to get the most out of it.

Parks & nature 472 m 6 min walk 4.4/5 on Google

Cambodian-Vietnamese War Memorial is 472 m north-east of Angkor Rithy boutique — about 6 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “parks & nature”.

The next two places under “parks & nature” from Angkor Rithy boutique are Flying Foxes (978 m) and Royal Independence Gardens (1.0 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

The Cambodian-Vietnamese War Memorial is a small park situated on one of Siem Reap's main roads, dedicated to remembering the historical cooperation and conflicts between the two nations. The site centres on a stone monument with distinctive architectural detail. There is no admission charge, and the space remains open around the clock.

Visitors consistently describe the memorial as a peaceful and quiet spot, even in the midst of the busy city surroundings. The stonework and architectural design draw repeated mention, with several noting that it rewards even a brief stop. Most who visit appreciate the free access and the respectful atmosphere, though some acknowledge there is relatively little to see and do beyond spending five to ten minutes observing the monument itself. The area has local vendors nearby selling food and drinks.

The memorial works best as a short pause during a day spent exploring Siem Reap's other attractions rather than as a destination in itself. Its central location makes it accessible to hotel guests staying nearby. Those interested in Cambodia's recent history may want to combine a visit here with nearby museums; visitors have noted it pairs well with more extensive historical sites in the area. There is no best time to visit given the round-the-clock access, though early morning or evening might offer a quieter experience.

Museums & galleries 868 m 11 min walk 4.9/5 on Google

The Cocoon House - Art Gallery, Concept Store, Fashion Vintage and Skate Shop - by Cocoon Limited is 868 m north-east of Angkor Rithy boutique — about 11 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “museums & galleries”.

The next two places under “museums & galleries” from Angkor Rithy boutique are The River Gallery (1.2 km) and VIMEAN SOKHA MUSEUM (1.5 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Set inside an old colonial mansion on Sivatha Road, this Siem Reap space mixes an art gallery, a concept store, a vintage fashion corner, and a skate shop under one roof. Visitors find contemporary artwork alongside Asian and European antiques, film photography, own-brand clothing, and skateboarding gear, with pieces ranging from affordable finds to higher-value collectibles.

Guests consistently describe the atmosphere as unusual and inviting, crediting the family behind it, a mother and son, for making the visit personal rather than transactional. Several reviewers mention staff by name, noting they take time to explain the history of the collection and the story behind the shop, and even offer tips on where to eat or find good coffee nearby. More than one visitor calls it the best skate shop they have encountered, and the vintage and antique pieces get particular praise for being well curated and, in some cases, surprisingly reasonably priced. No real criticisms surface in the reviews.

The house is closed on Tuesdays, and on other days it operates in two blocks, roughly mid-morning to early afternoon and then again from early afternoon into the evening, so it is worth timing a visit around that split. It suits travellers who enjoy browsing rather than a quick in-and-out stop, since much of the appeal comes from the stories attached to individual pieces and from the chance to talk with the people running it. It works equally well for someone hunting a vintage watch, a piece of art, or simply a skate shop with more personality than stock.

Flying Foxes

Parks & nature 978 m 12 min walk 4.7/5 on Google

Flying Foxes is 978 m south of Angkor Rithy boutique — about 12 minutes on foot. It is among the three closest places to the hotel under “parks & nature”.

The next two places under “parks & nature” from Angkor Rithy boutique are Cambodian-Vietnamese War Memorial (472 m) and Royal Independence Gardens (1.0 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Flying Foxes is a bat colony in central Siem Reap that roosts in trees within an urban park. These are large bats, comparable in size to small cats, with wingspans that make them distinctive when airborne. The colony remains active throughout the day, though visitors report they are most animated at sunrise and sunset. The site is free to visit and accessible at any time, sitting amid everyday city life—near a temple, vendors, and open to foot traffic and local residents using the space for exercise or recreation.

Visitors consistently emphasize the experience as remarkable and worth multiple visits. Many note the surreal coexistence of the bats with human activity: people playing badminton or doing morning exercises in close proximity while the bats go about their routines undisturbed by noise, music, or crowds. The colony is reliable—reviewers mention returning night after night across visits spanning days or weeks. Some visitors bring drinks and settle in to watch. One caveat: the surrounding area can be loud, with temple drumming and amplified music from nearby venues, though this apparently does not deter the bats. Weather can be unpredictable, and heavy rain sometimes forces early departures.

Sunrise is the optimal time to visit, when the bats are most active and the air is cooler. The site requires no tickets or advance booking. Bring a camera if you wish to photograph them, though their erratic flight patterns make still photography challenging—video may be more practical. The location suits anyone interested in wildlife behavior and natural history, and the free access makes it a low-commitment addition to a Siem Reap itinerary. Plan for the noise and crowds around the site, which are part of the urban context where these bats have chosen to live.

The other place under “cinema” within reach of Angkor Rithy boutique is Sabay Cinema Siem Reap (2.1 km).

Legend Cinemas Siem Reap is a multiplex cinema in the city centre offering standard and premium screening options. Visitors find well-maintained halls with spacious seating, good air conditioning, and controlled lighting. The cinema shows films in original versions with subtitles across 2D, 3D, and VIP screening rooms. Regular tickets cost around $3.50, with premium VIP options available at higher prices. Online ticketing is straightforward and accepts credit card payment without requiring account registration.

Guests consistently praise the comfort of the seats and the quality of the sound system. The air conditioning is noted as effective, and the cinema stays cool even during afternoon screenings. Staff are described as helpful and friendly. Several visitors mention the VIP theatre option, which includes reclining La-Z-Boy style seats, blankets, and complimentary snacks and drinks brought to your seat. Prices across the board—for tickets, snacks, and drinks—are reported as very affordable compared to cinemas elsewhere. No significant complaints appear in visitor feedback.

The cinema is open daily from 9 AM to 10:30 PM, making it accessible for both afternoon and evening screenings. It suits anyone wanting a comfortable, air-conditioned escape in Siem Reap, whether watching a mainstream release or catching up on international films. The VIP option works well for couples or anyone seeking a more relaxed, cushioned experience. Given the modest ticket prices and friendly service, it's worth checking what's currently screening before visiting.

Royal Independence Gardens is 1.0 km south of Angkor Rithy boutique — about 13 minutes on foot. It is among the three closest places to the hotel under “parks & nature”.

The next two places under “parks & nature” from Angkor Rithy boutique are Cambodian-Vietnamese War Memorial (472 m) and Flying Foxes (978 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Royal Independence Gardens is a public park in central Siem Reap, accessible around the clock along National Route 6. Visitors find a landscaped space with historical statues, mature trees, and good lighting that extends into the evening. The Preah Ang Chek Preah Ang Chorm shrine sits within the gardens themselves. The park draws joggers, walkers, and people playing casual sports, and several cafes nearby serve coffee.

Guests consistently describe the gardens as clean and well-maintained, with a peaceful atmosphere suitable for a stroll regardless of the time of day. Many highlight the cultural and spiritual quality of the space, particularly around the shrine. The most distinctive feature visitors mention is the congregation of hundreds of flying foxes hanging in the trees—an unusual sight that recurs across multiple reviews. Some acknowledge the gardens are pleasant rather than exceptional as a destination in themselves, though most find them worthwhile for a visit. The area feels safe to move around in at night when lit, and it works for families, friends, or couples seeking a quiet break.

The gardens are open continuously, making them accessible for early morning walks or evening visits. The site requires no entry fee and works best as a stop during a wider exploration of Siem Reap rather than as a standalone destination. The flying foxes are most active and visible in the early morning and at dusk. Those interested in local history and spiritual sites, or anyone wanting a green space to move through without crowds, will find it suitable; visitors primarily seeking dramatic natural beauty or wildlife encounter may feel it offers less.

The Heritage Walk

Shopping 1.0 km 13 min walk 4.0/5 on Google

The Heritage Walk is 1.0 km south of Angkor Rithy boutique — about 13 minutes on foot.

The Heritage Walk is an upscale shopping complex in Siem Reap designed around a hybrid concept that blends indoor retail with outdoor and natural features. The mall includes a multiplex cinema, a handful of international food chains (Starbucks, Domino's, Pizza Company, Dairy Queen), a few retail outlets such as Miniso, and a basement play area. The building itself is spacious with thoughtful architectural layout, but much of the retail space sits empty.

Visitors consistently note that the mall feels quiet and under-occupied, with only a fraction of shops and restaurants operating. Most reviewers describe the atmosphere as deserted or declining, with limited variety for browsing or shopping. The practical reality for many is that the mall functions mainly as a spot for coffee or a quick meal rather than a destination for serious shopping. While the concept was apparently sound, the execution has not drawn sustained foot traffic, leaving large sections of the facility closed or vacant.

The mall operates daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Parking is paid, though the fee is waived if you make a purchase; visitors should note that a lost parking ticket incurs a 5,000 riel penalty. It suits visitors seeking air-conditioned dining options, a movie, or a coffee break in a quieter setting, but it is not the place to rely on for variety in shopping or dining unless you are specifically after one of the anchoring chains. The contrast between its designed potential and current activity level is notable enough that reviews suggest checking what is actually open before making the trip.

The next two places under “sights” from Angkor Rithy boutique are Made in Cambodia Market (1.3 km) and Fair Trade Village (1.4 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

The Royal Residence is a garden complex in central Siem Reap featuring landscaped grounds, historic statues, and shrines. Visitors find it a functioning civic space where locals exercise in the mornings and evenings, and a place where Cambodian national events are gathered. The gardens sit near the river, with French colonial architecture visible along the waterfront.

Guests consistently praise the well-maintained grounds and peaceful atmosphere for walking. Many note it as an accessible escape in the heart of the city, where you can observe daily life and interact with locals. Reviewers mention the gardens have been recently renovated and are worth the visit regardless of your reason for being in Siem Reap. The ambiance and photo opportunities are frequently mentioned as appealing.

The gardens are easily reached on foot from hotels in the surrounding area—around a 3 to 4 kilometre walk is manageable. Early morning, between 9:30 and 10 am, is a good time to visit if you want to see locals exercising. Wear comfortable shoes for walking the grounds.
