Angkor Privilege was a little oasis. The staff and villas are excellent. The chef and food are superb ! Just an easy 15 mins tuk tuk ride to the centre. The pool was so lovely and the grounds. We took a family connecting room which was gorgeous and quite big. I would reccomend that over th Presidential suite as that is over the lobby and separate rooms with a semi-public salon. Thanks so much to the staff !

We have just spent 3 nights at this beautiful resort in Siam Reap. For those travellers who don't want to be in the heart of the hussle & bussle of a city, this resort is perfect, but it is still only a short tuk tuk ride away. The hotel is traditional Cambodian style & charm, set among lush gardens. The villas are all located around a beautiful large central pool. The rooms are spacious and very well maintained. The staff, well, they are another level, so friendly, so helpful, we really can't fault them. A huge thank you to everyone for making our stay such a memorable one. We hope to come back and see you all again soon ❤️

When we arrived, a young staff member greeted us, took our passports, and asked us to sit down. After a long journey, tired and hungry, we truly appreciated being able to sit for a moment. A few minutes later, another (much friendlier and warmer) staff member appeared with welcome drinks, while the first returned with our passports. Unfortunately, the first staff member seemed impatient and spoke to us in a slightly rude, dismissive tone. Both of them then stood there watching us rather intensely while we held the drinks, clearly expecting us to finish quickly. We were the only guests there, so the sense of urgency felt unnecessary and awkward. We were shown two options: the Family Suite and the Presidential Suite. The “Presidential Suite” turned out to be two small, separate rooms above the lobby that weren’t even connecting, with an open space in front that felt more like a corridor than anything presidential. Honestly, the name felt misleading — it looked like a standard room with fancy branding. The staff member showing us the room was barefoot. Coming from New Zealand, we’re not strangers to being barefoot, but in a five-star resort it simply felt unprofessional — especially as he walked through the suite with visibly dirty feet. While looking around the Family Suite, I kept trying to reconcile the glowing reviews I had read online with what I was actually seeing. Unfortunately, the two didn’t match. There were grey and yellow stains on the walls, marks on the curtai

The location is outside the city just enough to make it quiet and serene. Yet it was still close enough to the temples and other sites. The property is clean, pool is inviting, breakfast was fresh and delicious. The staff were so attentive. Highly recommend!

We had a very pleasant stay at Angkor Privilege Resort and can strongly recommend it. The location is quiet and peaceful, about 5 km from downtown. By tuk tuk it takes around 10 minutes and costs about 3 USD, which was perfect for us. You are far away from traffic noise and the main road, yet still well connected. The location is ideal for excursions – Angkor Wat and the Floating Village are both easily accessible from here. Day tours can be booked directly at the hotel, and the staff is always happy to provide helpful information. The resort is surrounded by nature, very calm and relaxing. The property has a nice size with around 16 villas, which creates a personal atmosphere without mass tourism. We especially enjoyed the local Khmer restaurant “Mae Ly” on the property, which we tried as well. We had fried rice with egg and vegetables, which was so tasty that we ordered it again, plus grilled chicken. The sauces were delicious, and the food felt fresh and authentic. There is also a poolside restaurant, where we were even invited by the resort to a 4-course menu. This was a very generous gesture. The food was very tasty, well presented, and the portion sizes were more than sufficient. The prices for food and drinks are fair and reasonable. The staff is genuinely friendly, helpful, and attentive. A special mention goes to the hotel manager, who is extremely kind and hands-on. You can see him daily watering the trees and flowers and taking care of the property, which sho

Markets 2.5 km 31 min walk 4.3/5 on Google

Phsar Leu Thom Tmey is 2.5 km west of Angkor Privilege Resort & Spa — about 31 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “markets”.

The other place under “markets” within reach of Angkor Privilege Resort & Spa is Phsa Kraom Market (5.6 km).

Phsar Leu Thom Tmey is a large indoor market in central Siem Reap that stocks an unusually wide range of goods under one roof. Visitors find fresh produce, seafood, meat, clothing, footwear, electronics, jewelry, and gold alongside food vendors and kitchen items. The market also has money changers. It operates early — from 3 AM most days — reflecting its primary role as a local supply hub rather than a tourist destination.

Visitors consistently note this is a genuinely local market where tourists are rare. Those seeking authenticity appreciate the lack of tourist pressure and the variety of fresh produce and Khmer food on offer. Shoppers report that prices are competitive compared to supermarkets and town-centre money changers, and that most vendors are willing to bargain. The main limitation is language: English is spoken far less here than at Old Market, so communication can be difficult. Some visitors found this an asset rather than a problem, valuing the untouched local atmosphere it suggests.

The market opens at 3 AM and runs until 8 PM daily, making it accessible throughout the day, though it functions most actively as a morning market. Go early if you want the fullest selection of fresh goods and the most authentic atmosphere. Wear comfortable shoes for navigating the indoor stalls. Bring a phrasebook or translation app if you speak no Khmer, and be prepared to navigate by pointing and patience. It suits visitors who want to shop as locals do and experience the working market life of Siem Reap, rather than those seeking a polished, English-friendly shopping experience.

Fair Trade Village

Sights 3.6 km 4.4/5 on Google

Fair Trade Village is 3.6 km north-west of Angkor Privilege Resort & Spa — a short ride rather than a walk. It is the closest place to the hotel under “sights”.

The next two places under “sights” from Angkor Privilege Resort & Spa are Royal Residence (4.1 km) and Made in Cambodia Market (4.4 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Fair Trade Village is a handicraft marketplace in Trang Village, positioned between central Siem Reap and the Angkor archaeological park ticket office. The site displays and sells handmade Cambodian goods across a wide range of categories: hand-woven textiles including kromas, bronze statues, jewellery made from seeds and clay, traditional dancing masks, bamboo items, and paintings created using a traditional palm leaf burning technique. Visitors can walk through the space and observe artisans at work, though accounts of actual production vary.

Visitor responses are mixed. Several travellers praise the variety and quality of craftsmanship, particularly the textile collection, and note that staff are friendly and non-pressuring. However, others describe the site as a tourist-oriented setup where prices run higher than comparable items at local markets, and question whether active production takes place or is performed for visitors. Some find the atmosphere underwhelming and the merchandise dusty or neglected-looking, suggesting limited footfall. The experience appears to depend heavily on expectations: those seeking curated Cambodian handicrafts in one location generally report satisfaction, while those seeking authentic artisan work or competitive pricing often leave disappointed.

The village operates daily from 9am to 6pm. It works best as a morning stop en route to Angkor rather than a dedicated destination, particularly if you are already travelling that direction. The setting suits travellers with specific interest in Cambodian textiles or handicrafts who prefer browsing without haggling, though independent travellers and those on tight budgets may find better value exploring markets closer to the city centre.

Restaurants 3.8 km 4.9/5 on Google

Mealea Watbo is 3.8 km west of Angkor Privilege Resort & Spa — a short ride rather than a walk. It is the closest place to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from Angkor Privilege Resort & Spa are Ground Zero: Martial Arts & Yoga Centre (4.0 km) and HAVEN (4.1 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Mealea Watbo is a Cambodian restaurant on Street 26 in Siem Reap, open daily from 11 in the morning until 11 at night. The setting combines traditional and modern decoration, with both indoor and outdoor seating, and guests mention a view that adds to the experience. The menu runs through Khmer staples such as fish, chicken and soup dishes, finished with desserts like coconut ice cream served with rice jelly and watermelon.

Visitors describe the food as flavourful and well presented, with several first-time tasters of Cambodian cuisine saying they were won over from the first bite. Value for money comes up often, with more than one reviewer calling it the best they have found in Siem Reap. Staff attentiveness is a recurring theme, and one server, Kakada, is repeatedly singled out by name for her warmth, clear English and thoughtful recommendations, including relocating diners indoors when insects became a nuisance during an outdoor meal. The lone practical note is a request to remove bones from the fish soup, a small detail rather than a wider complaint.

Given the long daily hours, it suits both a casual solo dinner and a small business gathering, as one guest describes using it for a work dinner. It works equally well for travellers wanting an introduction to Khmer food and for those who already know it and want a reliable, well-run spot. With close to 1,300 reviews and a rating that sits at 4.9, it draws a steady crowd, so arriving during peak dinner hours may mean a short wait, though nothing in the reviews suggests reservations are essential. Outdoor seating is worth requesting for the view, provided you don't mind the occasional insect that comes with dining near greenery in the evening.

Cafés & bakeries 3.9 km 4.8/5 on Google

Brother Bong Cafe is 3.9 km west of Angkor Privilege Resort & Spa — a short ride rather than a walk. It is the closest place to the hotel under “cafés & bakeries”.

The next two places under “cafés & bakeries” from Angkor Privilege Resort & Spa are The Bean Embassy Roastery & Specialty Coffee (4.0 km) and Dialogue (4.2 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Brother Bong Cafe sits on Street 20 in Siem Reap, open daily from early morning to late afternoon. It functions as a proper breakfast and lunch stop rather than a quick coffee counter, with a menu that stretches from English breakfast plates and smashed avocado to Khmer dishes, sandwiches and baguettes, alongside its coffee program, which has roots in an earlier Phnom Penh location.

Reviews are largely enthusiastic, with repeat visitors mentioning the coffee, particularly iced lattes, and the generous, well-made baguettes and breakfast plates as standouts. Vegetarian options and friendly, attentive staff come up often, and some travellers say they returned daily during longer stays. A few notes of caution surface too: one visitor found the sausage in a dish more like a street-style meatball than expected, and another flags that credit cards are not accepted, something staff did not volunteer in advance.

Go for breakfast or lunch rather than a late-day visit, since it closes in the afternoon, and expect it to be busy even on weekends, so a short wait for a table is possible. Bring cash to be safe, as card payments have not always been accepted. It suits travellers wanting a relaxed, well-designed café setting with a broad menu covering both Western breakfast staples and Khmer food, and it has drawn a loyal following among those coming back multiple times during a Siem Reap stay.

Restaurants 4.0 km 4.9/5 on Google

Ground Zero: Martial Arts & Yoga Centre is 4.0 km west of Angkor Privilege Resort & Spa — a short ride rather than a walk. It is among the three closest places to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from Angkor Privilege Resort & Spa are Mealea Watbo (3.8 km) and HAVEN (4.1 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

This is primarily a martial arts and yoga training centre in Siem Reap that also runs a small cafe for members and visitors, serving fresh meals, coconut water and smoothies under the guidance of a chef who co-owns the place. The centre offers disciplines including Bjj, Kun Khmer and Bokator, alongside yoga and movement classes, plus facilities such as an ice bath. Longer stays are possible too, including a 28-day retreat format.

Guests consistently describe a welcoming, community-driven atmosphere where newcomers are folded in quickly by both staff and other trainees, even if they arrive nervous or with no prior experience. Coaches are praised individually for distinct teaching styles and personalities, which reviewers say keeps training varied rather than repetitive. The food served on site comes up often and favourably, described as fresh and appealing rather than an afterthought to the training. No significant complaints or caveats appear in the available reviews.

This suits travellers looking to combine a stay in Siem Reap with structured physical activity, whether that is a single drop-in class, a short course, or the longer 28-day retreat. It is less a conventional restaurant stop and more a training base with a cafe attached, so visitors coming purely for a meal should expect the food to be secondary to the martial arts and yoga programming. Opening hours run from 8:00 AM to 8:30 PM Monday through Friday, with shorter hours on Saturday and Sunday, so it is worth checking the schedule for specific classes before turning up, particularly for popular sessions like the ice bath or Kun Khmer training.

The next two places under “cafés & bakeries” from Angkor Privilege Resort & Spa are Brother Bong Cafe (3.9 km) and Dialogue (4.2 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

The Bean Embassy is a roastery-café set on the grounds of the Chocolate Garden east of Siem Reap, away from the town's busier streets. It has its own on-site roastery, a small house with plenty of surrounding green space, and both indoor and outdoor seating. The menu runs from breakfast plates, poached eggs and hollandaise among them, to pastries like almond croissants, alongside a full specialty coffee list with detailed flavour descriptions and the option to choose your coffee's strength and sweetness.

Visitors consistently rate the coffee itself very highly, describing it as rich and well-made, with attentive staff who explain the beans and offer small touches like free cookies or water alongside the order. The setting is repeatedly praised for its quiet, family-friendly, green atmosphere, a contrast to more central cafés. The recurring criticisms are the price, which some guests find high for Cambodia, and occasional slow service at busier times, along with air conditioning that has not always kept up with the heat.

It opens early, from 6am daily until 9pm, which makes it a good stop for breakfast after an overnight bus or an early start to the day. Because it sits on the Chocolate Garden grounds outside the central Pub Street area, it suits visitors looking for a slower, quieter morning or afternoon rather than a quick coffee between sightseeing stops. Bringing a book or planning to linger is worthwhile, since guests describe it as a place for sitting and relaxing rather than passing through, and it works well for couples, families, or anyone wanting a calmer alternative to the town centre's cafés.

HAVEN is 4.1 km west of Angkor Privilege Resort & Spa — a short ride rather than a walk. It is among the three closest places to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from Angkor Privilege Resort & Spa are Mealea Watbo (3.8 km) and Ground Zero: Martial Arts & Yoga Centre (4.0 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

HAVEN is a garden restaurant on Chocolate Road in Siem Reap, open daily except Monday from 10am to 10pm. It operates as a training restaurant, giving disadvantaged young adults hands-on experience in hospitality, and the owners are frequently on site, often stopping by tables to chat with guests. The menu runs from curries to salads to vegan options, alongside cocktails and coffee, served in a leafy, relaxed setting that guests describe as an oasis from the streets outside.

Reviews are strikingly consistent: visitors praise the food quality across multiple dishes, from the fish to a vegan carrot cake to a beef salad described as beautifully plated, and several mention returning more than once, including one group of twenty who noted every dish arrived together and on time. Service is repeatedly called warm and attentive, with more than one reviewer describing staff handling a problem, such as a payment issue, calmly and helpfully. The training-restaurant concept is mentioned often and clearly adds to the experience for many diners, who say knowing the purpose behind the place makes the meal feel more worthwhile.

Given the volume and consistency of praise, HAVEN suits travellers looking for a relaxed sit-down meal rather than a quick bite, including groups, couples, and anyone wanting vegan or vegetarian choices alongside more standard dishes. It is closed on Mondays, so plan around that, and the garden setting makes it a good lunch stop if you are already exploring the area rather than a destination requiring a special detour, though several guests treat it as exactly that.

A small gallery in Siem Reap showing paintings by Cambodian artists, ranging from established names to those exhibiting for the first time. Visitors describe it as compact rather than sprawling, with original pieces and prints available across a range of price points, giving the space a working-gallery feel rather than a museum-style display. Part of the appeal is the story behind the art itself, with several works reflecting the artists' own perspectives on Cambodia's past.

Guests consistently mention the quality and atmosphere as standing apart from the artwork sold around the night market and Pub Street area, calling it a more serious stop for anyone actually interested in buying local art. The staff come up often and favourably, with one visitor naming a guide, Julia, whose explanations of individual paintings were described as bringing the work to life. Reviewers also note that a portion of sales revenue goes toward supporting art education for students, which several found meaningful rather than incidental to the visit. No real complaints or caveats surface in the reviews, though its small size is mentioned as a fact rather than a flaw.

The gallery is closed Mondays and Tuesdays, open Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. It suits travellers with an interest in contemporary Cambodian art, whether browsing or looking to buy an original piece or print, and works well as a quieter counterpoint to the temple circuit. Given the small footprint, a visit tends to be short, but those keen on hearing about individual works should allow time to talk with staff rather than just walk through.
