I remember when the Phnom Penh riverside used to feel peaceful and genuinely beautiful. Walking along the river in the evening was relaxing — the breeze was nice, the city lights reflected beautifully on the water, and it felt like one of the few places in Phnom Penh where people could truly slow down and enjoy the atmosphere.
But today, the riverside has completely changed. Most of the area now feels more like a giant chaotic night market rather than a tourist destination or public space to relax. The sidewalks are crowded with food stalls, random parking areas, loud music, and groups of young people gathering everywhere. It’s constantly noisy and difficult to even walk comfortably.
One of the most disappointing things is the cleanliness. Many people eat and drink right next to the river and casually throw trash into the water or leave garbage on the ground. Hygiene around some food s

Phnom Penh Riverside is a must-visit spot. The atmosphere is vibrant, especially during the evening with the cool breeze from the Mekong River and a stunning sunset view. It’s perfect for a relaxing walk, meeting friends, or enjoying street food while watching the river views. The blend of colonial architecture and modern vibes makes this place truly unique and beautiful.

Nice place for weekend. Time passes easily here. You can enjoy cruise in River. This River was made for to spend time to enjoy people's holiday or weekends. There are crowded and the road is full with footpath shop and food court. The vehicles are not allowed in this area in weekends.

The riverside in Phnom Penh is a nice spot to experience local life. People gather along the bank to enjoy local street food, relax, and do outdoor activities. It’s lively, and you’ll see many birds being fed by visitors.
There are also boat tours if you want to see the river from a different perspective. It can get quite hot on a sunny day, though, so it’s best to go in the early morning or evening. It would be even better if there were more greenery along the river, but overall, it’s a pleasant place to stroll and soak in the atmosphere.

A Late-Afternoon Walk Along Phnom Penh’s Riverside: There’s a moment, just before the sun calls it quits for the day, when Phnom Penh’s Riverside Park becomes something close to perfect. The air is mercifully cooler in November as the default hot AF softens. The Mekong glows like it’s been brushed with a thin layer of honey. And you, wandering out from the nightlife quarter, find yourself easing into a scene that feels both unexpectedly gentle and quietly electric.
The promenade fills with locals and visitors moving at a pace that suggests nobody is in a hurry to be anywhere else. Grandmothers power walk with the serene determination of Olympic contenders. Teens practice dance routines with the self conscious flair of people who very much hope you’re watching. The influencer social currency of FOMO in full effect. Couples unwrap ice creams like small acts of rebellion against adulthood
