Sunset Beach sits on Koh Rong Samloem island, reached by a 30-minute hike from Saracen Bay. The final approach is a steep jungle descent of roughly 100 metres with ropes along the way; the return climb is shorter but more demanding. The beach itself is a crescent of soft white sand backed by trees, with calm, clear turquoise water shallow enough to feel like a pool. A handful of low-key bars and restaurants blend into the vegetation along the shore, designed for watching the sunset rather than drawing crowds.
Visitors consistently describe the beach as peaceful and quiet, a place that genuinely feels removed from tourist infrastructure. The water clarity and calmness are often mentioned as standout features. People appreciate that the beach has not been over-developed—structures are minimal and tucked away. If you are considering the hike, several visitors note that mosquitoes are a significant presence in the jungle section, particularly as you approach the beach, and recommend bringing substantial repellent. The steep terrain on both directions of the walk is real and worth preparing for physically.
Go in the dry season or as the wet season ends, when the jungle path is more passable. The hike demands reasonable fitness and proper footwear with grip. Sunset Beach suits travellers seeking genuine quiet and willing to work for it—those looking for easy beach access or developed amenities should stay in Saracen Bay instead. Bring water, mosquito protection, and realistic expectations about the climb.

Truly, the barefoot beach.
This is so quiet, clean, great view, one can dream swim as long you want.
Everything set up here to have a barefoot experience. I noticed a lot of them using toilet without shoes. So far, I noticed, including the toilets are clean.
Mostly or all the resorts here have plenty of water. Every time you get out of the beach. They have a running tap water to wash your foot .
When I made the reservation, I was looking for a place with a private bathroom. I was hesitant to use a share bathrooms here. I am completely wrong. These toilets are really clean well maintained and designed.
There are plenty of restaurants. They also different type of food. For example in Spanish restaurant. They are really good in Spanish food, French restaurant. Just like they are good in their French food, local food and European and Asian food restaurants, Some restaurants have few-ho

Koh Rong Samloem is a true hidden gem in Cambodia, offering an idyllic retreat for those seeking peace and untouched beauty. Unlike its more vibrant neighbor, Koh Rong, this island is a sanctuary of tranquility with crystal-clear turquoise waters and powdery white sand beaches.
The highlight of the island is Saracen Bay, a crescent-shaped beach where the water is so calm and shallow that it feels like a giant swimming pool. For a more secluded experience, a short trek through the jungle leads to Lazy Beach or Sunset Beach, where you can witness breathtaking golden sunsets in near-total solitude. With limited Wi-Fi and a laid-back atmosphere, Koh Rong Samloem is the perfect place to disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with nature. Whether you are swinging on a hammock under a palm tree or snorkeling among colorful coral reefs, this island promises a soul-soothing experience t

A 30min hike from Saracen bay. There is a new road being developed so it is easy to walk to the starting point of the trail that leads down to the beach. Prepare for short hike down the hill. Could be wet but there are ropes along the way to help. Seems longer going down but it only takes 5 minutes to go up the hill on your way back.
Beautiful beach, lovely sand and a very very relaxed vibe. There are a few bars along the beach mostly hidden/blended in with the trees and offer laid back seating to enjoy the sunset.
We visited at the end of October when the wet season was coming to an end, so the sea was a bit rough but we were still able to swim and enjoy it.
Signal can be bad around the island and the WiFi is unreliable so it is good to have cash on you, just in case.

Beautiful beach calm and quiet. Some fantastic restaurants and places to stay. Maybe the nicest place I’ve ever been

This place is brilliant: clear and calm water, soft sand and a few places to get a drink or bite. Expect to feel like on a deserted island, so peaceful.
If you’re walking from Saracen Bay, be mindful of the steep decline (and incline upon your return) before reaching the beach. It is about 100m vertical with rocks, roots and branches to climb over. Also, bring a lot (!) of mosquito repellent and spray before going into the jungle for the last part of the hike (when you see the signs in the picture).
