This was our best stay during a 3 week travel in Cambodia. We planned to stay 4 nights, but prolonged it with 5 extra nights because we loved it. The family is very nice and caring. It's 10 minutes from the center of Kampot, which is easily reachable by scooter (cheap rental), bike (free) or tuktuk (easy to order with Grab app). The garden and quietness is worth it! The rooms exceeded our expectations. They were super clean and smelled really nice. Well airconditioned and hot shower. Also never insects/gecko's in the rooms, because they close of nicely. If you book a room with garden view you have a private balcony. The restaurant can provide breakfast/lunch/dinner, all cooked by the hostess. Drinks are made by the hosts (and very nice!). At the time we visited they had puppies, which was a bonus! They have a sweet cat as well.

Incredible! We loved our 3 days here. Gentle and caring hosts. Everything here is fantastic. Wonderful rooms, food, gardens and puppies. Amazing value. Super quiet area, located down a dusty road full of smiling children and playful dogs- just 10 minutes from town is no issue. Free bicycles to use and motorbike hire is cheap. Mangoes on the trees everywhere. Thank you so much Villa Romduol.

We had a wonderful time, a beautiful homestay with exceptional hospitality. The rooms are very spacious and spotlessly clean. The food is very delicious and freshly prepared by the owners. Situated in a nice quiet area, you can reach the center of Kampot in less than 10 minutes by scooter or tuk-tuk. You can also just take a bike! We will definitely come back, thanks for everything! 😀

I had an exceptional stay at Villa Romduol in Kampot. This place is clearly run with care and attention by a lovely family, and that feeling carries through every detail. The rooms are very spacious and impeccably clean, with elegant, high-quality Khmer furniture that gives the whole space a refined and authentic atmosphere. The beds are soft and very comfortable, and the water pressure in the bathroom is excellent, which is something you don’t find often in cambodia. The garden feels almost magical, especially in the evening. Watching the sunset over Bokor Mountain from there is a highlight on its own. The food is also delicious, fresh, and prepared with care. Without exaggeration, this has been the best hotel experience I’ve had in Cambodia and the best place to unwind and enjoy nature.

It was a wonderful place surrounded by nature. The room was very clean, and everything was well maintained. I could see that many thoughtful details had been prepared to make it comfortable and easy for guests to use. Unlike hotels in the city, it was very quiet both during the day and at night, which made my stay very relaxing and comfortable. It was also a lovely memory to spend time with the cute cats and dogs.

Bars 1.5 km 18 min walk 4.6/5 on Google

High Tide Kampot is 1.5 km north-east of Villa Romduol — about 18 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “bars”.

The other place under “bars” within reach of Villa Romduol is Royal Kampot KTV (2.3 km).

High Tide Kampot is a riverside bar built around dog rescue and rehabilitation. Visitors find a working sanctuary where rescued dogs live and socialise throughout the day, with drinks and light refreshments available. The bar operates from a riverside location where guests can spend time with the animals, and the owner offers boat cruises down the river at sunset as part of the experience.

What makes the place distinctive is the genuine care visitors observe in how the dogs are treated. Guests consistently mention the owner's deep commitment to animal welfare and the dogs' visible contentment and friendliness. The staff are described as kind and knowledgeable about dog behaviour and rehabilitation. Visitors appreciate that there is no entrance fee, with support coming through purchasing drinks or merchandise. A few reviewers noted they returned multiple times during their stay, suggesting the experience holds up to repeat visits.

The bar is open daily from 10 AM to 10 PM, making it accessible for morning visits with the dogs or for sunset river cruises. It suits anyone spending time in Kampot with an interest in animals or who wants to support rescue work while having a drink by the water. Expect a casual, welcoming atmosphere rather than a conventional bar scene, and plan to interact with the dogs if that appeals to you.

Sights 2.0 km 25 min walk 4.4/5 on Google

Farm Link is 2.0 km east of Villa Romduol — about 25 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “sights”.

The next two places under “sights” from Villa Romduol are Krong Kampot (3.1 km) and Seahorse Statue (3.2 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Farm Link is a working pepper cooperative and educational space in central Kampot that showcases the production of the region's famous pepper. Visitors tour a small processing facility and farm plot where staff demonstrate how black, red, and white pepper are sorted, dried, and prepared. The cooperative collects harvests from dozens of local small farmers. You can handle and taste different pepper varieties alongside other products the group produces, including long pepper, vanilla, salt, and sugar.

Staff consistently earn praise for their knowledge and friendliness, patiently explaining the labour-intensive processes behind each pepper type and answering questions in French and English. Visitors repeatedly mention the value proposition: Kampot pepper costs notably less here than at local markets, and staff will guide you through the tasting and selection process without pressure. The cooperative model itself appeals to those interested in supporting local farming directly. A minor note appears in one review about impulse buying—the prices and variety apparently make it easy to leave with more than planned.

The site operates mornings and early afternoons, closed around midday. Plan for a 30 to 45-minute visit. It suits anyone with interest in how local products are made, those seeking authentic souvenirs at reasonable prices, and travellers wanting context on Kampot's agricultural identity. The hands-on elements—smelling, tasting, watching manual sorting—make it accessible to most visitors regardless of expertise. Allow time before a midday closure if you're visiting in the morning slot.

Restaurants 2.0 km 25 min walk 4.9/5 on Google

BaZaar Café & Healing Space is 2.0 km east of Villa Romduol — about 25 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from Villa Romduol are Laundry Cafe Burger Bar (3.0 km) and Vanna Restaurant & Bar in Kampot (3.0 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Tucked away in Kampot, this café pairs homemade, health-oriented food with a garden setting at the back, complete with hammocks. The signature order across visits is the Buddha bowl, alongside kefir, mango lassi, tonics, and a chocolate cookie that regulars keep coming back for. Beyond food, the space leans into its "healing" name with offerings like tarot readings, and the overall feel is artistic and calm rather than a quick-stop café.

Guests are consistently enthusiastic about the food quality, describing it as fresh, clearly homemade, and flavourful, with the Buddha bowl mentioned again and again as the reason to visit. The garden seating and hammocks come up repeatedly as a highlight, giving the place a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere that some visitors returned to daily. The one practical gripe is the lack of air conditioning, noticeable on hot days since the space is open-air. Prices are described as higher than typical local spots, though reviewers who mention this generally feel the quality justifies it, and cash-only payment has been noted as well.

This suits travellers looking for a slower, more contemplative meal rather than a fast bite, and it works well for an afternoon of tea and cake as much as a full meal. It is open daily except Sunday, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, so it is not an evening dinner option. Given the open-air setup, arriving earlier in the day or in cooler weather may be more comfortable. Bring cash, and if the garden and hammocks are part of the appeal, allow enough time to actually sit and stay rather than just eat and go.

The other place under “bars” within reach of Villa Romduol is High Tide Kampot (1.5 km).

Royal Kampot KTV is a karaoke bar in central Kampot that operates around the clock. The venue offers private karaoke rooms, including a Diamond room noted for its appearance, and serves food described as healthy and fast-casual in style. The setting attracts both local and visiting clientele.

Guests consistently praise the friendliness of staff and describe receiving respectful treatment during their visits. The management and female staff members draw particular mention for attentiveness. Some visitors highlight the VIP treatment available to clients. One reservation worth noting: the cashier service has been flagged as disorganized by at least one visitor, though this does not reflect the broader feedback about the venue's hospitality.

The bar is open every day of the week without closing time, making it accessible at any hour. It sits on NR3 highway in Kampot town. The venue appears to suit groups looking for private karaoke sessions and those seeking a social environment with attentive service, though those sensitive to administrative efficiency at the payment stage may want to mentally prepare for a slower checkout.

The next two places under “cafés & bakeries” from Villa Romduol are Blend House Cafè & Zen House Yoga (3.0 km) and Douceurs de Kampot (3.0 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Analog coffee sits on National Road 3 in Kampot and serves espresso drinks, specialty lattes, and cold beverages in a space visitors describe as having a strong vanilla scent and a relaxed local atmosphere. The cafe has functional wifi and air conditioning, making it suitable for working as well as casual visits. The setting appeals to people who enjoy photographing their drinks.

Visitors consistently praise the coffee quality, with several describing it among the best they have had in Kampot. Matcha lattes and charcoal lattes are mentioned specifically. The atmosphere draws repeated compliments for being chill and lovely, and staff are noted for being helpful and speaking English. Prices are described as affordable. The main caution is that cold drinks tend toward the sweeter side, which works well for some but may not suit those preferring less sugar.

The cafe opens daily from 7:00 AM and closes at 6:30 PM, making it accessible for early breakfast or an afternoon stop. It functions well as a morning work spot or a place to spend an hour between activities in Kampot. Markets 2.9 km 4.1/5 on Google

Samaki Market is 2.9 km east of Villa Romduol — a short ride rather than a walk. It is the closest place to the hotel under “markets”.

The other place under “markets” within reach of Villa Romduol is Kampot Night Market (3.1 km).

Samaki Market is Kampot's main general market, occupying a central location where locals shop for everyday supplies. The stalls spread across the space with distinct sections: fresh produce including tropical fruits like mangosteen, sugar apple, and salak; seafood and meat counters; clothing and textiles; jewelry; and toys. Beyond retail, the market also houses practical services—hair salons, key cutting, and shoe and clothing repair shops. The atmosphere is authentically local rather than tourist-oriented, with vendors setting up from early morning and the space growing busy with tuk tuks and motorbikes.

Visitors consistently praise the market's range and authenticity, noting that you can find nearly everything in one place at local prices. The produce section draws particular attention, especially the fresh tropical fruits available at the north-side kiosks; seafood like crab is noted at around 3-4 USD per kilogram, with cooking services available for 1-3 USD. The main criticism visitors mention is limited parking, which can be frustrating during peak hours. Several reviewers note that the best time to shop is early morning, around 5am after vendors set up, both for the best selection and to avoid produce that has been sitting out.

The market operates daily from 7am to 5pm. It suits visitors looking to shop like locals, eat inexpensively, or source ingredients for self-catering. Early morning is essential if you want the freshest pick and easier navigation, though expect crowded conditions with vehicular traffic during those peak hours. This is a working market for locals first, so it rewards those who arrive prepared and early.

The next two places under “cafés & bakeries” from Villa Romduol are Analog coffee (2.6 km) and Douceurs de Kampot (3.0 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Blend House Cafè & Zen House Yoga sits down a small alleyway off the riverfront road in Kampot, combining a café with a yoga studio upstairs. The daily menu runs to bagels made fresh in house, smoothie bowls, and coffee, with both indoor and outdoor seating for those who want to linger over breakfast or a midday coffee.

Visitors consistently mention the calm, welcoming atmosphere and the attentiveness of the staff, often naming the owners Chris and Ali directly for their warmth. The smoked salmon bagel, smashed avo bagel, and protein smoothie bowl come up repeatedly as favourites, alongside praise for the coffee and flat white. Several guests who joined the yoga classes describe them as genuinely grounding, and the combined Backpacker Package of a class plus food is mentioned as good value. Oat milk availability is called out as a welcome plus for those who need it. No complaints or caveats surface in the reviews, though more than one visitor admits to returning day after day, which suggests the appeal holds up beyond a single visit.

The café opens at 8am and closes at 3pm every day except Thursday, when it is shut, so this is a breakfast-and-lunch spot rather than an evening one. It suits travellers looking for a quiet break from Kampot's busier bar streets, and is worth building a morning around if you want to try a yoga class before or after eating, since sessions run upstairs on a daily basis. Given the alleyway location, it helps to know roughly where you are heading rather than expecting it to be visible from the main road.

Laundry Cafe Burger Bar is a casual burger restaurant on Street 74 in central Kampot, serving made-to-order burgers alongside steaks and fries. The space has a relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff and a music playlist that suits lingering over a meal. Portions are generous.

Visitors consistently praise the quality of the beef patties, which are juicy and cooked well, paired with fresh buns and thoughtful topping combinations—the swiss cheese and jalapeño cheese fries appear frequently in reviews. Prices are reasonable for the quality; a Friday discount brings most burgers down to $5. The main drawback is popularity: the restaurant draws crowds, and waits of around 40 minutes are common during peak times. One reviewer noted the buns could benefit from more toasting, though this is a minor note among otherwise strong feedback.

The restaurant opens daily from noon to 10 PM, making it suitable for lunch or dinner. It works well if you're staying in Kampot town and want a reliable meal without fuss. Plan to arrive outside busy hours if you prefer not to wait, or embrace the wait as part of the experience—the volume of returning visitors suggests most think it worthwhile. It suits travellers craving straightforward, quality burgers rather than fine dining.
