Excellent guesthouse with lovely staff, bar and food, wonderful terrace, walking distance to the only 2 western restaurants in town, the rooms are old school wooden rooms with mosquito nets and are fantastic for a couple of nights, very charming. 3$ cocktails surrounded by nature on the large terrace, walk up the road and have fantastic dinner for 5$, visit waterfalls and see the elephants. Cant knock it. Also has parking .

Nice accommodation and very kind staff. The entrance is at the top of the property and you enter down a set of stairs and everything is built into the sloping hillside on wood platforms. The restaurant and reception have a nice view of the tree tops (a fitting name) and the small valley below. The bungalows are big with a nice porch, two chairs, and a hammock. Rooms have a nice comfy big bed, bug net, ceiling fan, and en-suite bathroom with a hot water shower (you have to turn the nozzle the opposite way of the symbol). It’s a bit rustic since you are literally amongst the trees, we had some ants but that’s no surprise. We ate lunch at the restaurant and it was yummy, vegetarian food on the menu. Very kind staff, the supervisor speaks English extremely well and helped us with all our questions and needs, he connected us with Smey to organize a jungle trek. He also stored our motorcycle in his locked garage area and kept our luggage and helmets safe while we were out in the jungle. There’s also the Green Carrot Restaurant and the Corner Restaurant which are a 5 minute walk down the street and are very good restaurants as well if you’re looking for more food options, we ate at both and Great stay and great price, definitely recommend it.

We had a great one night stay here! Definitely a “tree top nature” kind of a feel. Very enjoyable for LOW maintenance people, who enjoy a more rustic accommodation. The owner was wonderful, and they even have a laundry service!

Super cool atmosphere, where you get a bungalow in a "wild" garden. You hear geckos and the cicadas as night, very chill overall. The bungalow also has a terrace with a hamoc and sort of local plank where to rest (or hang clothes to dry!) The place offers simple but delicious food, we ate mostly there as a result. The bungalow doesn't have AC but it wasn't necessary because nights actually get pretty cold. Staff was nice and helpful, they propose trips to get to other places in Cambodia and Laos. Beware however that the stairs to get to the bungalows aren't adapted to everyone (wooden, uneven/homemade style)

Katieng Waterfall

Sights 7.9 km 4.3/5 on Google

Katieng Waterfall is 7.9 km south of Tree Top Ecolodge — a short ride rather than a walk.

Katieng Waterfall is a cascade in the countryside near Banlung, set within a small park that remains quieter than other waterfalls in the region. Visitors find a tiered drop with a cave running in a crescent shape beneath it, accessible by a steep trail with old stairs and slippery rocks. A heart-shaped lookout point serves as a photo spot. The base of the falls holds a pool deep enough for swimming, and a cave area provides shelter to rest and cool off.

The waterfall attracts consistent praise for its natural appeal and peaceful atmosphere. Visitors emphasize how deserted it feels compared to busier local attractions, and many mention the pleasant experience of swimming in the pool or exploring the cave underneath the cascade. The park charges a nominal entry fee (reported as one dollar for foreigners) and vendors nearby sell refreshments including sugarcane juice. A note of caution appears in reviews about the slippery rocks and uneven terrain—the trail requires careful footing, and at least one visitor raised concerns about potential snakes. The waterfall location is also home to an elephant trek operated by local handlers; opinions on this activity vary, with some visitors noting the elephants are chained but have forest space to roam.

The site is accessible year-round with no specific opening hours restrictions. Plan for roughly 30 to 45 minutes travel from Banlung city centre, though roads can be confusing and mobile signal is unreliable in the area. Asking locals for directions is advisable if uncertain. Wear sturdy shoes with good grip for the rocky terrain and bring a change of clothes if you intend to swim. It suits visitors seeking a quiet natural setting away from crowded attractions, though those uncomfortable with wet and uneven surfaces should consider the physical demands before visiting.
