Good to know
The hostel is open daily from 8 AM to 12 AM. Room types include private rooms as well as 10-bed and 12-bed dorms.
Had a great stay here. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The $3 breakfast was really good, especially Papa John's breakfast.
The hostel also organized excellent shared tours. I joined the Angkor sunset tour, which was fantastic, and the tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly.
Great value for money. I would definitely stay here again!
I landed late night in Siem Reap after a long journey and had booked a stay at Siem Reap Chilled Backpackers expecting at least a clean bed and a peaceful sleep before my early morning plans. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the worst hostel experiences I’ve ever had.
The hostel room was completely unhygienic. The beds had bedbugs, which made it impossible to sleep comfortably. Basic amenities were also missing — no towel was provided, there was no soap or shampoo in the bathroom, and even the hot water was not working.
What made the experience even worse was that one person in the room was vomiting the entire night. The smell and situation were absolutely disgusting, and the staff did nothing to manage it or help the other guests. I could not sleep the whole night and ended up changing my hotel the very next morning despite losing my booking money.
I usually understand that budget hostels may not be luxurious, but hygiene and basic comfort are the minimum expectations. Sadly, this place failed badly in that aspect.
Overall, a terrible experience and definitely not a place I would recommend to anyone visiting Siem Reap.
The location is quite nice. Walkable distance from the center. Also good driving distance from Angkor Wat. The staff are friendly.
I stayed there for 4 nights and the room barely got cleaned throughout those days. They just changed bed sheets. The bathroom didn’t get cleaned at all and no toilet paper or soap was being refilled. The pool is nice but no sun gets in there. Only in a small corner so everyone gathers in that corner.
If the place has “backpacker” on the name, you can’t expect a grand luxurious hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful, aircon works well. I like the old wood furniture and the floors and beds are nice and clean. The restaurant is comfortable, but a bit slow for large groups.
The beds were rock hard however, and the bathroom needed regrouting and silicone as there was black stains all over the joints on the shower. The shower curtain had black mould all along the bottom, and when we got there it was placed on the side near the toilet so not sure how clean it was. I didn’t use it and found out other rooms didn’t even have one.
I would stay there again if the price is right.
Great hotel with an excellent location, close to everything you need. The people at the reception were incredibly kind and helpful, especially when they assisted me with renting a bike, which made exploring the area very easy.
The restaurant staff were also wonderful – friendly, welcoming, and always smiling. Overall, a very pleasant atmosphere with genuinely nice people who make you feel taken care of.
I would definitely stay here again
