Ocean Blue Bar is 516 m south-east of Sunrise Bungalows — about 6 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “bars”.

The other place under “bars” within reach of Sunrise Bungalows is The Balcony Koh Rong - Wine & Cheese House (1.1 km).

Ocean Blue Bar sits on the beachfront in Koh Rong and operates as a combination pizzeria and bar. Visitors find Italian-style pizza as the main draw, alongside a full bar with happy hour beers. The space overlooks the sea, with a casual beach atmosphere and tables positioned to take in the views.

Guests consistently praise the pizza, describing the dough, base, and toppings as well-executed and comparing it favourably to European standards. The kitchen works quickly; orders arrive at the table fast. Service staff speak English and are noted as friendly and welcoming. One returning visitor came back two years later and found the pizza still at the same standard. Drinks are mentioned as cheaper than nearby bars. The beachfront location and overall atmosphere receive consistent approval. No significant criticisms appear in visitor feedback.

The bar suits anyone on Koh Rong with a craving for pizza and a beer with sea views. It works well for both quick meals and lingering over drinks at happy hour. Kaoh Touch Beach is 601 m south of Sunrise Bungalows — about 8 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “beaches”.

The other place under “beaches” within reach of Sunrise Bungalows is Royal Beach (4.2 km).

Kaoh Touch Beach is the main developed beach on Koh Rong island, lined with hotels, restaurants, bars, and rental services. It functions as the island's commercial hub, where most visitors find accommodation, food, and practical necessities within easy reach. The beach itself is a bay with sandy areas, though conditions vary.

Visitors consistently praise the convenience—food, lodging, and bike rentals are readily available at competitive prices, and the area suits those wanting easy access to services without travelling far. However, reviews also reveal significant environmental concerns that cannot be ignored. Multiple visitors report the beach is heavily littered with plastic and glass debris, the water smells of sewage, and waste streams flow into the bay from above. The sand poses a barefoot hazard due to sharp plastic fragments. Some visitors have been disturbed enough by the state of the area to participate in beach cleanups themselves. On weekends, the beach becomes busier with vendors and tourists, though it does not reach severe overcrowding.

The beach works best for travellers prioritising convenience and affordable facilities over pristine conditions, or those planning brief stays. If environmental cleanliness is important to you, reviews suggest looking elsewhere on the island. Visit during weekdays if you prefer fewer crowds and vendors. Bring water shoes to protect your feet, and manage expectations about water quality and beach conditions before arriving.

Bella Vista is 754 m south of Sunrise Bungalows — about 9 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “cafés & bakeries”.

The next two places under “cafés & bakeries” from Sunrise Bungalows are Ma Baker (806 m) and Cookies (953 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Bella Vista is a small Italian café on Koh Rong Samloem run by Francesca, an Italian owner who makes pastries and piadina to order. The space is casual and peaceful, with views of the beach and pier, and cats roaming the premises. The menu centres on coffee, breakfast items, and Italian specialities made fresh daily.

Visitors consistently praise the coffee quality and the owner's personal attention to detail. The avocado toast appears frequently in feedback, as does the piadina, which Francesca prepares by hand in front of customers using a grandmother's recipe for the bread. Several guests mention returning multiple times during their stay, drawn by the calm atmosphere and the owner's warmth. The iced tea and cappuccino also receive specific mention. No significant complaints emerge from the reviews, though the focus is squarely on quality over variety.

The café suits anyone seeking a quiet morning or afternoon spot with genuine Italian coffee rather than tourist-standard fare. It works best early in the day for breakfast or as a midday break between beach time. Given the small, intimate setting and the owner's hands-on approach, expect a relaxed pace rather than quick service. The beachfront location and book collection make it suitable for lingering over coffee.

Enocafe Coffee & Italian Restaurant is 802 m south of Sunrise Bungalows — about 10 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from Sunrise Bungalows are Jungle Bar and kitchen (1.1 km) and Sunny Turkish Restaurant (1.8 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Enocafe Coffee & Italian Restaurant sits in Koh Toch village on Koh Rong Island, offering Italian cuisine run by an Italian team. The restaurant spans multiple levels and serves pasta, pizza, and coffee. It opens daily from 11:30 AM to 9:30 PM, except Sundays when hours are not listed.

Visitors consistently praise the food quality, particularly the handmade pasta — gnocci and ravioli appear frequently in mentions — and the thin-crust pizzas made to European standards rather than local fusion styles. The pasta sauces and portions receive repeated compliments. Several guests note that the standard is notably higher than other restaurants on the island, though this comes at a higher price point. Staff friendliness, particularly one staff member named Da, is mentioned. The restaurant also offers WiFi and is considered safe for those with cautious eating preferences. No significant complaints appear in the available reviews.

The restaurant suits visitors craving authentic Italian food while island-hopping and willing to pay a premium for quality. It works well for those who want a break from fusion cooking or are particular about food standards. Since hours on Sunday are not confirmed, check ahead if planning a visit late in the week. The multi-level setting makes it a reasonable choice if you want to spend time away from the beach for a meal.

Ma Baker is 806 m south of Sunrise Bungalows — about 10 minutes on foot. It is among the three closest places to the hotel under “cafés & bakeries”.

The next two places under “cafés & bakeries” from Sunrise Bungalows are Bella Vista (754 m) and Cookies (953 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Ma Baker is a café and bakery on Koh Rong Samloem village, operating daily from 7 AM to 9 PM. It serves fresh pastries, cakes, sandwiches, and coffee in a casual setting with what visitors describe as a local island atmosphere. The bakery is small enough that it requires a walk from some beach areas to reach, but visitors consistently single out the cinnamon rolls as the main draw—made fresh, typically topped with cream cheese frosting infused with lime zest or paired with chocolate and peanut butter filling.

Visitors return specifically for the cinnamon rolls, calling them among the best they have tasted anywhere. The carrot cake, almond pastry, and egg sandwiches also receive consistent praise for flavour and texture. People mention value as a genuine strength: multiple visitors note that a substantial meal of multiple baked goods and a sandwich costs around $10. Some visitors do flag the cinnamon rolls as pricey on their own, though this complaint is outweighed by satisfaction with quality. The café appeals to those wanting something beyond typical island fare, and its reputation spreads by word of mouth among hostel guests.

Go early if you want a full selection, as baked goods sell out during the day. The walk from Long Set Beach or other parts of the village is substantial, so plan accordingly. This suits travellers willing to hunt for a good bakery rather than those looking for convenience, and works best for anyone with a sweet tooth or seeking a genuine local spot away from the main beach strip.

Cookies is 953 m south of Sunrise Bungalows — about 12 minutes on foot. Of the 3 places under “cafés & bakeries” within a kilometre of the hotel, this is the best rated.

The next two places under “cafés & bakeries” from Sunrise Bungalows are Bella Vista (754 m) and Ma Baker (806 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Cookies is a small, family-run bakery on Koh Toch Beach in Koh Rong, selling freshly made cookies, brownies and cakes. Beyond the shop itself, much of the business happens on the sand: young sellers, often the family's own children, carry baskets of cookies along the island's beaches, including Longset Beach, so visitors may well be offered a treat before ever finding the storefront. For larger orders, the shop can be reached by WhatsApp, with a seller delivering directly to a hotel.

Reviews are consistently warm, both about the food and the people. The brownies come up most often, described as moist and packed with chocolate chips, while the cookies and cakes also get regular praise. Visitors repeatedly mention the sellers by name and note their friendly manner and good English, with more than one guest mentioning being given an extra cookie for free. No complaints or caveats appear in the feedback; the recurring theme is simply that people did not expect much from a beach snack stand and left impressed.

The shop and its sellers operate every day, all day, so there is no need to time a visit around opening hours. Because much of the selling happens informally on the beach, the easiest approach is to watch for baskets or posters with the WhatsApp number, or to head to Koh Toch Beach directly for the physical shop. It suits anyone spending a day on Koh Rong's beaches who wants an afternoon coffee companion or a quick, unfussy treat, and it is worth ordering ahead by WhatsApp if a specific hotel drop-off or a larger quantity is wanted.

Jungle Bar and kitchen is 1.1 km south of Sunrise Bungalows — about 14 minutes on foot. It is among the three closest places to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from Sunrise Bungalows are Enocafe Coffee & Italian Restaurant (802 m) and Sunny Turkish Restaurant (1.8 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Set back from the main pier strip on Koh Rong Samloem, Jungle Bar and Kitchen trades beach-front bustle for a timber-built, leafy setting that feels closer to a jungle lodge than a typical seafront eatery. The kitchen turns out homemade dishes built on good ingredients, from burgers and pizza to a house cocktail, an island twist on a Long Island iced tea, and the bar area doubles as a relaxed spot for a beer with a view.

Visitors are consistent in their praise: the burgers and pizza come up repeatedly as standouts, with several guests calling the portions generous and the pizza among the best they had in the region. The food is described as full of flavour, cooked by the owner's wife, while the owner himself is mentioned again and again for his warmth and hospitality, including small touches like a chance to win free beers during the meal. No real complaints surface in the reviews, though its slightly tucked-away position means it takes a bit more effort to find than the places right on the beach.

Given the setting, this is a place worth seeking out rather than stumbling into, best suited to travellers who want a slower, more atmospheric meal away from the pier crowds. It works equally well for a proper dinner or just a beer and a chat with the owner while waiting on a boat. Families and couples both feature among the reviewers, and repeat visits within a short stay are not uncommon, a sign that guests who find it tend to come back before they leave the island.

The Balcony Koh Rong - Wine & Cheese House is 1.1 km north-east of Sunrise Bungalows — about 14 minutes on foot.

The other place under “bars” within reach of Sunrise Bungalows is Ocean Blue Bar (516 m).

The Balcony is a small wine and cheese house on Long Set Beach on Koh Rong, set slightly apart from the island's beach-bar strip. It specialises in charcuterie and cheese boards paired with a curated wine list, alongside coffee and a bottomless brunch on Sundays. The setting looks out over the jungle and sea, with mellow background music adding to the relaxed feel.

Visitors consistently single out the cheese and meat boards as generous, well-made and a genuine treat for anyone missing quality cold cuts on the islands. The wine pairing draws repeated praise, as does the smoked duck croissant mentioned by more than one guest. What comes up again and again, though, is the service: reviewers describe the team, including hosts named Louise and Neil, as warm, attentive and clearly invested in guests having a good evening. No real complaints surface in the reviews, only a wish from at least one visitor that they'd had time to catch the Sunday brunch.

This is a spot for slowing down rather than a lively night out, better suited to couples or small groups after a relaxed evening with good wine and food than to travellers chasing a party scene. Given that it's tucked away rather than on the main strip, it helps to ask locally or check directions before setting out, particularly after dark. It's worth timing a visit around the Sunday bottomless brunch if that fits the schedule, and worth arriving with an appetite, since the boards are reported as substantial rather than a token snack.
