I really enjoyed my 3 days here. The place is very clean and secure with great A/C in the rooms. Staff are all kind, helpful and hospitable. The pool is clean and cool and not over-chlorinated, which I appreciated. Breakfast is available if you pre-order, and they deliver to your room. It was around $5 and very nice, with a choice of American or Asian breakfast with tea, coffee, juice etc. I think other food and drinks are also available, although I went into town for lunch and dinner, which is made very easy by the complementary hotel tuktuk which can get you to the town centre in a few minutes. I liked the fact that the place is in a quiet area, but one can quickly travel to and from town. I'd be happy to stay here again.

Beautiful Design, but a Failure in Service, Cleanliness, and Noise Control To be fair, the rooms are spacious and beautiful, with quite comfortable bedding. We also met one helpful and professional staff member at the reception who stood out. However, these points do not make up for the overall disastrous management and lack of basic hospitality standards. The hotel is dirty. We found thick dust behind the doors, under the bedside tables, and behind the curtains. Housekeeping is very superficial. The pool area is particularly disgusting: people eat there at night, and since it’s never properly cleaned, there are ants and flies everywhere. The room layout is for show, not for living: • The Bathtub: There is a large bathtub in the main bedroom, but it was dirty and had no shower head, only a tap. Completely impractical for washing. • Zero Storage: No cupboards for shoes and almost no shelving. The only four shelves were occupied by the kettle, the safe, and a scale, leaving only 3 hangers for 4 people. We lived out of our suitcases. They messaged us saying transfers were free, then charged us $5 upon arrival (3x the price of a Grab). For the Bokor Mountain tour, the price jumped from an advertised $35 (Tuk Tuk) to $55 (Taxi) after a suspicious phone call arranged by the staff. The loudest hotel of our trip. Construction (drilling, excavators, shouting) starts at 6:00 AM. With single-glazed windows, you have to shout to hear each other inside the room. Even on weekends/holid

Farm Link

Sights 340 m 4 min walk 4.4/5 on Google

Farm Link is 340 m east of SOKCHEA KAMPOT HOTEL — about 4 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “sights”.

The next two places under “sights” from SOKCHEA KAMPOT HOTEL are Krong Kampot (1.4 km) and Seahorse Statue (1.5 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Farm Link is a working pepper cooperative and educational space in central Kampot that showcases the production of the region's famous pepper. Visitors tour a small processing facility and farm plot where staff demonstrate how black, red, and white pepper are sorted, dried, and prepared. The cooperative collects harvests from dozens of local small farmers. You can handle and taste different pepper varieties alongside other products the group produces, including long pepper, vanilla, salt, and sugar.

Staff consistently earn praise for their knowledge and friendliness, patiently explaining the labour-intensive processes behind each pepper type and answering questions in French and English. Visitors repeatedly mention the value proposition: Kampot pepper costs notably less here than at local markets, and staff will guide you through the tasting and selection process without pressure. The cooperative model itself appeals to those interested in supporting local farming directly. A minor note appears in one review about impulse buying—the prices and variety apparently make it easy to leave with more than planned.

The site operates mornings and early afternoons, closed around midday. Plan for a 30 to 45-minute visit. It suits anyone with interest in how local products are made, those seeking authentic souvenirs at reasonable prices, and travellers wanting context on Kampot's agricultural identity. The hands-on elements—smelling, tasting, watching manual sorting—make it accessible to most visitors regardless of expertise. Allow time before a midday closure if you're visiting in the morning slot.

The other place under “bars” within reach of SOKCHEA KAMPOT HOTEL is High Tide Kampot (1.6 km).

Royal Kampot KTV is a karaoke bar in central Kampot that operates around the clock. The venue offers private karaoke rooms, including a Diamond room noted for its appearance, and serves food described as healthy and fast-casual in style. The setting attracts both local and visiting clientele.

Guests consistently praise the friendliness of staff and describe receiving respectful treatment during their visits. The management and female staff members draw particular mention for attentiveness. Some visitors highlight the VIP treatment available to clients. One reservation worth noting: the cashier service has been flagged as disorganized by at least one visitor, though this does not reflect the broader feedback about the venue's hospitality.

The bar is open every day of the week without closing time, making it accessible at any hour. It sits on NR3 highway in Kampot town. The venue appears to suit groups looking for private karaoke sessions and those seeking a social environment with attentive service, though those sensitive to administrative efficiency at the payment stage may want to mentally prepare for a slower checkout.

Analog coffee is 1.2 km east of SOKCHEA KAMPOT HOTEL — about 15 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “cafés & bakeries”.

The next two places under “cafés & bakeries” from SOKCHEA KAMPOT HOTEL are Blend House Cafè & Zen House Yoga (1.3 km) and Douceurs de Kampot (1.3 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Analog coffee sits on National Road 3 in Kampot and serves espresso drinks, specialty lattes, and cold beverages in a space visitors describe as having a strong vanilla scent and a relaxed local atmosphere. The cafe has functional wifi and air conditioning, making it suitable for working as well as casual visits. The setting appeals to people who enjoy photographing their drinks.

Visitors consistently praise the coffee quality, with several describing it among the best they have had in Kampot. Matcha lattes and charcoal lattes are mentioned specifically. The atmosphere draws repeated compliments for being chill and lovely, and staff are noted for being helpful and speaking English. Prices are described as affordable. The main caution is that cold drinks tend toward the sweeter side, which works well for some but may not suit those preferring less sugar.

The cafe opens daily from 7:00 AM and closes at 6:30 PM, making it accessible for early breakfast or an afternoon stop. It functions well as a morning work spot or a place to spend an hour between activities in Kampot. It suits coffee enthusiasts and anyone seeking a quiet, air-conditioned refuge during the heat of the day.

BaZaar Café & Healing Space

Restaurants 1.3 km 16 min walk 4.9/5 on Google

BaZaar Café & Healing Space is 1.3 km north of SOKCHEA KAMPOT HOTEL — about 16 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from SOKCHEA KAMPOT HOTEL are Laundry Cafe Burger Bar (1.3 km) and Vanna Restaurant & Bar in Kampot (1.3 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Tucked away in Kampot, this café pairs homemade, health-oriented food with a garden setting at the back, complete with hammocks. The signature order across visits is the Buddha bowl, alongside kefir, mango lassi, tonics, and a chocolate cookie that regulars keep coming back for. Beyond food, the space leans into its "healing" name with offerings like tarot readings, and the overall feel is artistic and calm rather than a quick-stop café.

Guests are consistently enthusiastic about the food quality, describing it as fresh, clearly homemade, and flavourful, with the Buddha bowl mentioned again and again as the reason to visit. The garden seating and hammocks come up repeatedly as a highlight, giving the place a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere that some visitors returned to daily. The one practical gripe is the lack of air conditioning, noticeable on hot days since the space is open-air. Prices are described as higher than typical local spots, though reviewers who mention this generally feel the quality justifies it, and cash-only payment has been noted as well.

This suits travellers looking for a slower, more contemplative meal rather than a fast bite, and it works well for an afternoon of tea and cake as much as a full meal. It is open daily except Sunday, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, so it is not an evening dinner option. Given the open-air setup, arriving earlier in the day or in cooler weather may be more comfortable. Bring cash, and if the garden and hammocks are part of the appeal, allow enough time to actually sit and stay rather than just eat and go.

Cafés & bakeries 1.3 km 16 min walk 4.9/5 on Google

Blend House Cafè & Zen House Yoga is 1.3 km east of SOKCHEA KAMPOT HOTEL — about 16 minutes on foot. It is among the three closest places to the hotel under “cafés & bakeries”.

The next two places under “cafés & bakeries” from SOKCHEA KAMPOT HOTEL are Analog coffee (1.2 km) and Douceurs de Kampot (1.3 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Blend House Cafè & Zen House Yoga sits down a small alleyway off the riverfront road in Kampot, combining a café with a yoga studio upstairs. The daily menu runs to bagels made fresh in house, smoothie bowls, and coffee, with both indoor and outdoor seating for those who want to linger over breakfast or a midday coffee.

Visitors consistently mention the calm, welcoming atmosphere and the attentiveness of the staff, often naming the owners Chris and Ali directly for their warmth. The smoked salmon bagel, smashed avo bagel, and protein smoothie bowl come up repeatedly as favourites, alongside praise for the coffee and flat white. Several guests who joined the yoga classes describe them as genuinely grounding, and the combined Backpacker Package of a class plus food is mentioned as good value. Oat milk availability is called out as a welcome plus for those who need it. No complaints or caveats surface in the reviews, though more than one visitor admits to returning day after day, which suggests the appeal holds up beyond a single visit.

The café opens at 8am and closes at 3pm every day except Thursday, when it is shut, so this is a breakfast-and-lunch spot rather than an evening one. It suits travellers looking for a quiet break from Kampot's busier bar streets, and is worth building a morning around if you want to try a yoga class before or after eating, since sessions run upstairs on a daily basis. Given the alleyway location, it helps to know roughly where you are heading rather than expecting it to be visible from the main road.

Laundry Cafe Burger Bar is 1.3 km east of SOKCHEA KAMPOT HOTEL — about 16 minutes on foot. It is among the three closest places to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from SOKCHEA KAMPOT HOTEL are BaZaar Café & Healing Space (1.3 km) and Vanna Restaurant & Bar in Kampot (1.3 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Laundry Cafe Burger Bar is a casual burger restaurant on Street 74 in central Kampot, serving made-to-order burgers alongside steaks and fries. The space has a relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff and a music playlist that suits lingering over a meal. Portions are generous.

Visitors consistently praise the quality of the beef patties, which are juicy and cooked well, paired with fresh buns and thoughtful topping combinations—the swiss cheese and jalapeño cheese fries appear frequently in reviews. Prices are reasonable for the quality; a Friday discount brings most burgers down to $5. The main drawback is popularity: the restaurant draws crowds, and waits of around 40 minutes are common during peak times. One reviewer noted the buns could benefit from more toasting, though this is a minor note among otherwise strong feedback.

The restaurant opens daily from noon to 10 PM, making it suitable for lunch or dinner. It works well if you're staying in Kampot town and want a reliable meal without fuss. Plan to arrive outside busy hours if you prefer not to wait, or embrace the wait as part of the experience—the volume of returning visitors suggests most think it worthwhile. It suits travellers craving straightforward, quality burgers rather than fine dining.

Kampot Adventure Tours is 1.3 km south-east of SOKCHEA KAMPOT HOTEL — about 16 minutes on foot.

Kampot Adventure Tours operates kayaking and quad bike excursions around Kampot, with tours typically lasting four hours. Visitors depart from the riverside near Starbucks for guided trips that combine boat transport to launch points with time on the water through mangrove areas. The outfit also offers kayak rentals for independent paddlers. Tours include stops at local attractions such as salt lakes, pagodas, and coconut beaches, with some including visits to salt farming families.

Guides consistently receive praise for local knowledge and attentiveness. Visitors mention that both the boat rides to kayak spots and the paddling itself are engaging, with mangrove sections described as quiet and tranquil. One guide named Chris appears across multiple positive reviews. A quad bike tour visitor noted complimentary refreshments and an introduction to a local salt farming family. However, one visitor renting a kayak at 4pm found that the transport ride back and forth from the main office to the kayak launch point was not included in the rental price, so clarify what is covered before booking. Another visitor experienced a capsized kayak early in their trip but reported the guides responded helpfully.

Tours suit visitors seeking outdoor activity combined with local insight rather than purely leisure time. Morning departures appear common. Wear clothes you are willing to get wet and dirty, and bring sunglasses for water glare. Book ahead through the office on Street 722 in central Kampot. If you are renting rather than joining a guided tour, confirm transport arrangements and costs upfront.

Restaurants 1.3 km 16 min walk 4.8/5 on Google

Vanna Restaurant & Bar in Kampot is 1.3 km south-east of SOKCHEA KAMPOT HOTEL — about 16 minutes on foot. It is among the three closest places to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from SOKCHEA KAMPOT HOTEL are BaZaar Café & Healing Space (1.3 km) and Laundry Cafe Burger Bar (1.3 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Vanna Restaurant & Bar sits on Street number 735 in Kampot, serving a menu that ranges from Khmer-leaning dishes like squid with green pepper and chicken satay to French-influenced plates such as pan-fried chicken breast in a special sauce. Portions are generously described by regulars, desserts get particular attention, and the setting is described as relaxed rather than formal, the kind of place suited to a proper sit-down evening meal rather than a quick bite.

Guests are consistently enthusiastic here, with the ice cream, palm sugar and grilled pineapple dessert coming up again and again as a highlight, alongside dishes like the beef saraman, fried shrimp and the chicken avocado salad, which is offered in two portion sizes. Several reviewers single out the owner, described as French and attentive, for spending real time talking diners through the extensive menu. The one point of disagreement is seasoning: while most find the food well balanced, at least one visitor found the sauce on the signature Vanna chicken too sour, so those sensitive to acidity might ask before ordering.

The restaurant is open daily from 11am to 11pm except Saturdays, when it is closed, and Sundays, when it opens later in the evening from 5pm. Given the size of the menu and the care taken over recommendations, it suits diners happy to take a little time choosing rather than those in a rush. It works well for a relaxed lunch or a longer evening meal, and the consistently high volume of positive feedback suggests booking ahead or arriving without a strict time pressure, particularly if planning to try one of the more elaborate dishes or desserts.
