Sok Heng Guesthouse is a guest house on Koh Rong Samloem, Cambodia, set in the village on the island near Sihanoukville. It is one of the older buildings in the village — guests report being told it was the first one built there — and it has been maintained rather than rebuilt, so the rooms are worn in places rather than new. Rooms are air-conditioned, and some are large and open with windows on several sides.
Rates sit at the affordable end for the island: one guest booked a room at $25 a night. Reception is staffed and handles requests directly, including showing a room before payment. Guests have noted receptionists with good English.
The guesthouse suits travellers who want an inexpensive, air-conditioned base close to the village and the clinic, and who care more about location and price than about a new-build finish. Reports on cleanliness are inconsistent, so it is worth asking...

Bon à savoir
Staff have allowed guests to inspect a room before paying, so ask at reception if you want to see it first. The building is old and the rooms are not new, though they have been kept up over the years. One guest reported a room that had not been cleaned after the previous stay, with stained bedding and marks on the wall and floor.

Wow this place was amazing one of my fav stays after a few months of traveling, I was extremely worried becuase of all the bad reviews but it was amazing!! We asked to see the room before we paid and there was no problem !! We saw it and within one second I was amazed with the room !! Due to the reviews I expected to walk into a small cramped room but instead we walked into a beautiful open room with windows all around it felt like luxerary!! The lady at reception was also so kind and helpful through out our whole stay from start to very end along with all the other staff all amazing!! AC worked great, the bed oooo!! The bed so comfy!! It was like a cloud such a great change from all the rock solid beds we’ve been having !😅the location was also great 2 min walk to the beach just got to walk down a wee hill, you also get your roomed cleaned if you leave your key at front desk there was also a hot shower a kettle!! And clean smelling towels ! Which I found we haven’t had for a while so overall my experience here was beyond expectations extremely happy would definitely stay here again if we come back to Koh rong 🌸(if your planning on comming go to the lady at the fruit stall for the best fruit and then play with the beautiful black doggy facing her shop he will greet you with a wagging happy tail and deserves all the love in the world !!!!)
Ooh you also get access to a private beach a pool at tree house bungalow which was a lovely place 😊
Oooh I must mention actually, you do get
I have stayed at Sok Heng Guesthouse for 2 nights. The guesthouse is located in a very good area, close to the clinic and the village. All of the staff were very helpful and always made my day with their welcoming smiles. The price is very affordable!
The building is old but clean. I heard that it was the first building constructed in the village, and they have taken very good care of it over the years. I’m looking forward to staying there again.
Had a last minute plan to koh rong and came upon this place that still had some available rooms left. For $25 a night i didn’t expect luxury, but the room really took me by surprise. The room we stayed in had urine stains on the wall from the previous guest — like actual puddle of urine on the floor. Bedsheets and blankets were very badly stained. Safe to assume that the staff didn’t really clean up after the last guest. Wish i could include pictures but i couldn’t wait to leave the place.
One star because the staff at the front desk was nice.
That’s a great guest house with a good location. Staff very helpful. I sleep so well on very soft mattress and cool air conditioners. The room was clean but not new at all. We will be back again.
