Stayed here for a night conveniently located between the Old Town and the Giant Ibis bus terminal. Pros: -location is already in city centre with many cafes, restaurants, and shops on the same street; just between the Old Town and the Giant Ibis bus terminal. - Friendly staff - The room with ensuite was clean and spacious. It has tea/coffee making table, and a mini fridge. - The place has a swimming pool; we decided not to go at last minute but to spend time exploring outside instead. - Decent one serving simple breakfast (7am -10am) was included in our stay. Highly recommend this hotel.

I had an absolutely terrible experience at this hotel. This place is completely unprofessional and dishonest. . Because of this, they refused to let me check in. What’s even worse is that they kept $80 from us, which feels like a complete scam. There was no proper explanation, no apology, and no effort to solve the issue. It honestly felt like they were just looking for a reason to take our money. On top of that, the property itself is very old and poorly maintained. The place has a bad smell and feels neglected. Overall, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Unprofessional staff, poor communication, and questionable practices with guest money. I strongly recommend avoiding this place unless you want your plans ruined and your money taken.

The first place I stayed at when I arrived in SR a year ago. Breakfast included, pool, clean and family run. No false pretense just genuinely kind family and staff. Great value for money, especially since breakfast is included:)

Rooms are big and affordable. Staff is amazing, food is good for breakfast and it’s far enough from the chaos of pub street it’s quiet. The pool is perfect.

I enjoyed staying at this hotel. The location is strategic as it’s close to the city centre, easy to find good places nearby to eat, not far from Angkor Wat and market. The room is clean, spacious, and I loved their fruits for my breakfast! They gave a full plate of dragon fruit, banana and watermelon. I think this is a family business; I felt safe staying here.

Relax Spa

Spa & wellness 200 m 3 min walk 4.9/5 on Google

Relax Spa is 200 m south of Side Walk Hotel — about 3 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “spa & wellness”.

The next two places under “spa & wellness” from Side Walk Hotel are The Spa Siem Reap (678 m) and The Secret Eden Spa (1.1 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Relax Spa sits right next to the Park Hyatt in central Siem Reap, offering massage and body treatments in private rooms. Visitors mention a welcome of tea on arrival, a cold towel and refreshment before treatments, and a hot beverage plus fresh mango afterward. Massage oils come in a choice of scents, including lemongrass, and the facility itself is described as clean, spacious and well air-conditioned. Options mentioned by guests include shoulder, back, neck and head massages, foot massages, full body massages, and couples sessions.

Reviews are consistently positive and repeatedly note steady, well-judged pressure from therapists held for the full duration, friendly and professional staff, and a calm, comfortable atmosphere that some guests connect to Khmer and Buddhist sensibilities. Several reviewers highlight promotional discounts, including a 50% off deal that made longer sessions, such as a two-hour massage, feel like good value. A couple of guests mention personal touches, such as staff arranging a small birthday surprise. No significant complaints appear across the reviews, though the frequent mention of time-limited promotions suggests standard rates may differ from what some visitors paid.

The spa is open daily from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM, making it workable for an evening treatment after a day at the temples or a pre-dinner stop given its Central Park location. Given its popularity and the mentions of discounted packages, it is worth asking about current promotions when booking, and reserving ahead if you want a specific time slot or a couples room. It suits travellers wanting a straightforward, comfortable massage experience in a convenient, easy-to-find location rather than a resort-style wellness retreat.

Made in Cambodia Market

Sights 355 m 4 min walk 4.4/5 on Google

Made in Cambodia Market is 355 m east of Side Walk Hotel — about 4 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “sights”.

The next two places under “sights” from Side Walk Hotel are Royal Residence (629 m) and Pub Street (643 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Made in Cambodia Market is a curated marketplace on Oum Khun Street selling locally made handicrafts, jewelry, and silk scarves alongside street food stalls. It differs from Siem Reap's larger tourist markets by operating at a smaller scale with a focus on artisan-made goods: handcrafted jewelry, brass and copper items, textiles, handbags, and artwork. The market also stocks local alcohol options. Benches near the entrance provide a place to rest between browsing.

Visitors consistently praise the atmosphere and product quality. The market is calm, well-organized, and notably clean compared to busier markets. Shopkeeping styles differ markedly from high-pressure sales tactics found elsewhere; staff are described as friendly and non-pushy, allowing browsing at leisure. The goods carry higher prices than mass-produced souvenirs, reflecting their handmade nature and quality. Repeat visitors mention specific stallholders like jewelry maker Say Sieng. The main reservation from reviews is cost: this is not the place for budget shopping, though visitors who prioritize quality over price consistently say it justifies the expense.

The market opens daily from noon to 9 PM. It suits travellers looking for distinctive, genuinely Cambodian souvenirs rather than generic tourist stock, and those who prefer a relaxed shopping environment without crowds or negotiation pressure. Allow an hour to browse comfortably. If you're staying in central Siem Reap and want to support local artisans while shopping in a pleasant setting, it's worth the visit; if your priority is finding bargains, look elsewhere.

The Heritage Walk

Shopping 443 m 6 min walk 4.0/5 on Google

The Heritage Walk is 443 m north-east of Side Walk Hotel — about 6 minutes on foot.

The Heritage Walk is an upscale shopping complex in Siem Reap designed around a hybrid concept that blends indoor retail with outdoor and natural features. The mall includes a multiplex cinema, a handful of international food chains (Starbucks, Domino's, Pizza Company, Dairy Queen), a few retail outlets such as Miniso, and a basement play area. The building itself is spacious with thoughtful architectural layout, but much of the retail space sits empty.

Visitors consistently note that the mall feels quiet and under-occupied, with only a fraction of shops and restaurants operating. Most reviewers describe the atmosphere as deserted or declining, with limited variety for browsing or shopping. The practical reality for many is that the mall functions mainly as a spot for coffee or a quick meal rather than a destination for serious shopping. While the concept was apparently sound, the execution has not drawn sustained foot traffic, leaving large sections of the facility closed or vacant.

The mall operates daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Parking is paid, though the fee is waived if you make a purchase; visitors should note that a lost parking ticket incurs a 5,000 riel penalty. It suits visitors seeking air-conditioned dining options, a movie, or a coffee break in a quieter setting, but it is not the place to rely on for variety in shopping or dining unless you are specifically after one of the anchoring chains. The contrast between its designed potential and current activity level is notable enough that reviews suggest checking what is actually open before making the trip.

Cafés & bakeries 466 m 6 min walk 4.7/5 on Google

The Little Red Fox Espresso Cafe is 466 m south-east of Side Walk Hotel — about 6 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “cafés & bakeries”.

The next two places under “cafés & bakeries” from Side Walk Hotel are Brother Bong Cafe (871 m) and Dialogue (909 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

The Little Red Fox Espresso Cafe is a small coffee shop on Hup Guan Street in Siem Reap, located upstairs in a building that's easy to miss from street level. The space includes a terrace with local artwork and plenty of seating, both indoors with air conditioning and outside. The menu centres on coffee drinks, bagels, pancakes, and baked goods, with several vegan and vegetarian options available. The cafe operates daily except Wednesdays, opening at 7 am.

Visitors consistently praise the quality of the coffee, particularly the lattes, flat whites, and cold brew, alongside fresh pastries and breakfast items like Nordic-style bagels and peanut butter pancakes with cashews and maple syrup. The staff are described as friendly and attentive, and the environment is noted as clean and well-maintained. Most reviews highlight the good value for money and mention that locals frequent the place alongside tourists. One visitor noted the vegan brownie and cookie as standouts. The main caveat is closing time: several guests have found the cafe closing before its stated 5 pm finish, so arriving earlier in the afternoon is advisable if you want an unhurried visit.

The cafe suits anyone seeking proper espresso drinks and Western-style breakfast food in Siem Reap, particularly those with vegetarian or vegan requirements. It works well for a leisurely morning or early afternoon, with free WiFi and staff who don't rush guests. Note that it closes on Wednesdays and, despite opening at 7 am, may close somewhat earlier than the published hours suggest.

ASANA OLD WOODEN HOUSE Cocktail Bar is 566 m south of Side Walk Hotel — about 7 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “bars”.

The next two places under “bars” from Side Walk Hotel are Barcode Bar Siem Reap (658 m) and Ambar Cocktails & Karaoke Bar (718 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

ASANA OLD WOODEN HOUSE Cocktail Bar sits in a converted wooden house set within a small garden compound, styled to evoke a floating village dwelling. The bar is compact and intimate, with the counter as a focal point where bartenders prepare drinks. The venue operates its own gin distillery on-site, and the menu spans creative cocktails featuring Khmer influences alongside classic preparations. Free peanuts arrive as a side offering.

Visitors consistently praise the atmosphere, describing it as an oasis and a step back in time compared to the surrounding area. The cocktails draw specific mention — guests highlight the tamarind drink (described by staff as inspired by khmer somlor majou) and the house gin as worth trying, and note that non-alcoholic options are available. Staff performance across the board registers as attentive and knowledgeable, with multiple reviews noting the bartenders' skill and friendliness. The main reservation visitors raise is pricing, which runs higher than nearby establishments on Pub Street, though most feel the distinctive setting and quality justify the cost. The space accommodates solo diners without pressure to leave.

The bar opens from 4 PM to midnight daily (Sunday hours are not listed). It suits visitors seeking a quieter, more curated drinking experience over the higher-energy bar street scene. The location is in Mondul 1 Village on Street 07, accessible as an evening destination when exploring Siem Reap's accommodation area. Arrive early if you prefer less crowded conditions, as the compact size means it fills quickly.

Graines de Piaf is 600 m south-west of Side Walk Hotel — about 8 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from Side Walk Hotel are Mesa - Restaurant (639 m) and Wild (992 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Tucked on Funky Lane in Siem Reap, Graines de Piaf is a small French restaurant open evenings only, run by a French owner who cooks and often talks guests through the menu himself. Dishes mentioned by visitors include bavette, magret de canard, pork filet with truffle sauce, duck in mustard sauce, beef fillet and creme brûlé, with meals typically served with salad and bread in the French style, alongside wine the owner is happy to pair with the food.

Reviews are consistently positive, with guests praising the quality and freshness of the cooking, reasonable prices, and the warmth of the owner, who is repeatedly described as friendly, passionate and attentive, including to non-French speakers thanks to an English menu. The one recurring caveat is space: the dining room is small and can get crowded and noisy on busy nights, with karaoke inside, so some diners have ended up seated outside among smokers, which they actually found quieter than the interior.

This is a place for an evening meal rather than a casual lunch, since it only opens from 6pm to midnight. It suits travellers who have had their fill of local cuisine and want a properly cooked French dinner with wine, or anyone curious about a small, personally run kitchen rather than a large restaurant. Given the limited seating and evident popularity, arriving early or booking ahead is worth considering, especially on weekends, and those who prefer a quiet indoor setting might ask about seating before committing to a table.

Parks & nature 628 m 8 min walk 4.7/5 on Google

Flying Foxes is 628 m north-east of Side Walk Hotel — about 8 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “parks & nature”.

The next two places under “parks & nature” from Side Walk Hotel are Royal Independence Gardens (705 m) and Kulen Elephant Forest (978 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Flying Foxes is a bat colony in central Siem Reap that roosts in trees within an urban park. These are large bats, comparable in size to small cats, with wingspans that make them distinctive when airborne. The colony remains active throughout the day, though visitors report they are most animated at sunrise and sunset. The site is free to visit and accessible at any time, sitting amid everyday city life—near a temple, vendors, and open to foot traffic and local residents using the space for exercise or recreation.

Visitors consistently emphasize the experience as remarkable and worth multiple visits. Many note the surreal coexistence of the bats with human activity: people playing badminton or doing morning exercises in close proximity while the bats go about their routines undisturbed by noise, music, or crowds. The colony is reliable—reviewers mention returning night after night across visits spanning days or weeks. Some visitors bring drinks and settle in to watch. One caveat: the surrounding area can be loud, with temple drumming and amplified music from nearby venues, though this apparently does not deter the bats. Weather can be unpredictable, and heavy rain sometimes forces early departures.

Sunrise is the optimal time to visit, when the bats are most active and the air is cooler. The site requires no tickets or advance booking. Bring a camera if you wish to photograph them, though their erratic flight patterns make still photography challenging—video may be more practical. The location suits anyone interested in wildlife behavior and natural history, and the free access makes it a low-commitment addition to a Siem Reap itinerary. Plan for the noise and crowds around the site, which are part of the urban context where these bats have chosen to live.
