Good to know
Rooms lack air conditioning and use ceiling fans and pedestal fans for cooling. There are no wardrobes in rooms. The property is open 24 hours daily.
I NEVER take the time for a review, but they simply deserve it. It is a real homestay with a beautiful garden. There are coconut, mango and banana trees. Which, is also part of the breakfast. Fred and Setha are willing to help you at any time of the day. They are verry relaxed, friendly and open people. The bed was comfortable and clean. The dog is lovely but shy.
Lovely simple homestay in traditional cabins on stilts looking over beautiful, bird-filled garden and lily pond. Very peaceful, but only a short tuktuk ride to city centre. Setha, who set the homestay up from scratch, is a lovely , friendly host. Her vegetarian meals are fantastic. Highly recommended.
We stayed 2 nights at the One Bedroom Apartment and hired their motorbike (USD 8 per day). Setha was very friendly and paid attention to detail on everything making sure our stay was smooth. The apartment was immaculate with modern traditional design but not commercialised. The wooden building is surrounded by nature. We had breakfast (included)and dinner (USD 5 per person) there cooked by Setha. The dishes were amazing.
My husband says that this has been one of his favourite places to stay in Cambodia. Thank you Setha.
Pros:
- Staying in a well looked-after wooden house. It has a modern traditional design.
- Located just outside of town centre and easily accessible by tuktuk / motorbike to the Phnom Sampov / Bat Cave
- Simplicity and quietness of the accommodation.
Highly recommend this place if you want to experience staying in a traditional Khmer wooden house.
This was the nicest homestay I’ve stayed at in the whole of Southeast Asia and my travels. Not only are her house and gardens beautiful and incredibly peaceful, but it is Setha herself who made the stay so memorable and inspiring. She is one of the most genuine and kind women I have ever met, and went way out of her way to make us feel comfortable and cared for. She has overcome so much in her life and has been through so much hardship - yet is so generous and warm, and I felt quite emotional leaving. I could not recommend staying here any more!
We stayed with Setha for a couple of nights and had an excellent experience. Our room was in the house overlooking the pond and had two king beds, an attached bathroom, and a balcony.
The accommodation is basic but comfortable. It can get warm during the day as there is no air conditioning, only a ceiling fan and a pedestal fan. However, the beds were comfortable and we slept well. There is no wardrobe in the room, but that did not bother us for a short stay.
The best part of the stay is the host and the natural surroundings. Setha takes great care of her guests and is very warm and personal. She shared her life story with us, which made the stay feel even more special. She also helped arrange a nice tour of the city and organized our taxi to Phnom Penh.Setha is very attentive and takes great care of her guests. At times the attention can feel a bit overwhelming, but it clearly comes from a place of genuine hospitality.
The food she cooks is very good and the portions are generous. We paid $13 for dinner for two adults and a child, which included white rice and two side dishes (one vegetable and one chicken). She can cook meals and help with other arrangements if informed in advance.
Since she manages the place almost entirely on her own, it is best to inform her ahead of time about meals or any arrangements you may need.
