Seashell is a guest house on Koh Rong Samloem, on the main street of M'pai Bai village in Cambodia. It sits directly on the sand, a short walk from the boat pier, and offers both dorm beds and private rooms. Dorm beds have been reported at around $5.50 per night, with fans above each bed and mosquito nets. One bathroom serves the eight-bed dorm and four private rooms.
The common areas are built for spending time in: hammocks on the beach, comfortable places to sit, and a large collection of board games. Staff and volunteers run activities through the week, including beach bonfires, family dinners, movie nights, jewellery making, dumpling making classes, snorkelling, and sunset and puppy tours. In high season an in-house yoga teacher holds one morning class a day.
The property suits travellers who want a social, beach-front base on the island and are happy with simple, shared facilities...

Good to know
Accommodation is split between an eight-bed dorm and four private rooms, sharing bathroom facilities. Some rooms are located in the attic and have no curtains, so they get warm and bright at sunrise. Dorm beds have their own mosquito nets and an overhead fan. Guests have reported late-night music at the property, so light sleepers may want to ask about scheduled events before booking.
Truly the best hostel I have ever stayed in!Not just for its location literally on the beach, but for the friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The owners are so welcoming and have created such a beautiful and chill space for people at Seashell. We kept extending our stay as we didn’t want to leave! The hostel has tonnes of board games, comfy places to hang out (including hammocks on the beach) and activities like bonfire night, necklace/bracelet making and family dinners, sunset and puppy tours, movie nights, snorkelling and even dumpling making classes! All the beds in the dorms have their own mosquito net and fan as AC is not common on the island. The hostel breakfasts are delicious (especially the pancakes!) so many amazing options and all so fresh and healthy. There’s also a great selection of cafes and restaurants close by to try too. M’Pai Bay in particular is my idea of paradise, small, stunning scenery, not overdeveloped and just incredibly laid back. No cars, no noise pollution, no roads, you can simply switch your brain off and enjoy! I met the most incredible people during my time here, locals and travellers alike. There’s a real sense of community that I haven’t felt in other places I’ve been, if you’re there on the 23rd of the month they throw a fundraising party for the island which was so much fun. I’m really sad to be leaving this special place but so grateful to have found it and I look forward to returning in the future
If you are looking for a welcoming and warm environment on Koh Rong Samloem, Seashells is the place to be!
Even though I had a room elsewhere, I spent a lot of amount of my time hanging at Seashells and was consistently impressed by the atmosphere and service.
⭐️What makes this place special:
• Prime Beachfront Location: You literally cannot beat being right on the sand. It’s the perfect spot to relax and soak up the island energy.
• Exceptional Hospitality: The volunteer team here is next-level. A massive shoutout to Toni, Rosie, and Kirsty who are all incredibly hospitality-minded, professional, and bring their warm and positive energy to the place.
• Amazing Breakfast and bottomless coffee: the banana pancakes were my favorite and the coffee is absolutely delicious.😋
Whether you are staying here or just stopping by, the welcoming vibe created by the team makes it feel like a home away from home. Highly recommended for anyone visiting M’Pai Bay!
People there are making the hostel alive.
Friendly, open, all are very chill. And different activities organised every day.
Otherwise the dorm (5.5$ per night) was just okay
Avoid. Owners had a party with incredibly loud music that lasted until 8! in the morning, making it impossible to sleep. This was not advertised at all prior to booking, and by 4am only a few of the owners friends remained - yet music kept on going for another four hours. Rooms are not well isolated from sound. No curtains and in the attic so they get incredibly warm and light fully comes in at sunrise. Bed is not comfortable. Only one bathroom was functioning for a dorm of 8 and 4 private rooms. A real shame, it’s a nice building and but just ruined by the above.
Stayed 4Ns mid-Jan 2026 | Overall: good decent hostal - Very good location right at the sandy beach and closeby the boat pier. Great hammocks, lovely intiative for a campfire at beach, friendly staff. I was there during high season so they had an in-house yoga teacher w/one morning class a day.
The only very small points of improvement: small maintenance: a toilet seat that was loose, no hooks in bathroom & at dorm to hang up clothes, fans above each bed are good but too big. windforce 10. Cleaning of toilet/bathroom only seem to happen 1 x per day. Cleaness was okay-ish.
For me the matress was too hard (I travel w/a light weight inflatable matress, so had no issue)
