I had a great time staying there for two nights. The host are friendly. I like the fact that it is soooo quiet with amazing view of nature. It is a really beautiful place to stay. The downside is the fact that the owner has so many cute dogs; some were barking a lot and it scared me every-time I was walking in and out. The funny part is the fact that only the small dogs barking while the big huge dogs are so sweet and peaceful. lol. Definitely go back again to make sure those small dogs remember us well and make peace! 😂

My husband and I stayed here for 6 nights. It is Paradise like the name describes. Staying here was the best part of our time in Ratanakiri. The environment, the peace, the owner and her family, the staff, all inviting and kind. Highly recommend, especially if you like nature!

We had booked three nights to stay at Ratanakiri Paradise Hotel and Restaurant and we stayed for seven .. I think that says it all! It is a little bit of paradise with an owner who is very warm, welcoming and goes out of her way to make sure her guests have the most enjoyable stay. The accommodation has AC, the rooms are clean and comfortable with an en-suite bathroom, a hot shower and bathrobes; the rooms have all the facilities you really need. The staff are very attentive and the chef cooks excellent meals from a varied menu. The portions are extremely generous and you certainly wont go hungry. The hotel is situated off the beaten track and the road can be a little challenging, but it’s worth the journey as the views and the gardens are beautiful, tranquil and away from the maddening bustle of a city. It isn’t far from the city and a number of waterfalls .. we filled our days and evenings with a mixture of chilling at the resort and exploring, so it is a perfect location for all your needs. It is extremely good value for money and we would recommend you stay here if you are in this area of Cambodia. The family went above and beyond to make our stay special including on my birthday!

The location of the resort is really convenient. Close to the lake, many plantations and waterfalls. The view from the patio and pool is stunning. Amenities well maintained and service very good.

Had an amazing time here! The atmosphere is so beautiful and relaxing, and the staff were so attentive and friendly! We rented motorbikes for the day for a very good price. The pool was always clean and very enjoyable. Other bonuses were the pool table, and they even let us have a bbq one night! The staff were very acommodating to our vegetarian needs. I will definitely stay again next time I'm in the area. Thanks for everything!

Katieng Waterfall

Sights 8.4 km 4.3/5 on Google

Katieng Waterfall is 8.4 km south-west of Rattanak kiri Paradise resort — a short ride rather than a walk.

Katieng Waterfall is a cascade in the countryside near Banlung, set within a small park that remains quieter than other waterfalls in the region. Visitors find a tiered drop with a cave running in a crescent shape beneath it, accessible by a steep trail with old stairs and slippery rocks. A heart-shaped lookout point serves as a photo spot. The base of the falls holds a pool deep enough for swimming, and a cave area provides shelter to rest and cool off.

The waterfall attracts consistent praise for its natural appeal and peaceful atmosphere. Visitors emphasize how deserted it feels compared to busier local attractions, and many mention the pleasant experience of swimming in the pool or exploring the cave underneath the cascade. The park charges a nominal entry fee (reported as one dollar for foreigners) and vendors nearby sell refreshments including sugarcane juice. A note of caution appears in reviews about the slippery rocks and uneven terrain—the trail requires careful footing, and at least one visitor raised concerns about potential snakes. The waterfall location is also home to an elephant trek operated by local handlers; opinions on this activity vary, with some visitors noting the elephants are chained but have forest space to roam.

The site is accessible year-round with no specific opening hours restrictions. Plan for roughly 30 to 45 minutes travel from Banlung city centre, though roads can be confusing and mobile signal is unreliable in the area. Asking locals for directions is advisable if uncertain. Wear sturdy shoes with good grip for the rocky terrain and bring a change of clothes if you intend to swim. It suits visitors seeking a quiet natural setting away from crowded attractions, though those uncomfortable with wet and uneven surfaces should consider the physical demands before visiting.
