I stayed two nights for work. The staff are extremely amazing and helpful. Always smiling and trying to meet your needs. Food was good for breakfast and I had a dinner once as well. All good. Room was spacious and good. The sheets were clean but had a stale smell a bit but I didn’t complain. I was sure they would have offered to change them.
I was unsure of what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel seemed like a boutique but had 9 floors. The staff were very polite and friendly and the decor of the hotel really nice. Our suite was well appointed with very comfortable beds, though the lighting was only ceiling lights and no table lamps which would have made it more comfortable at night. The pool was lovely and refreshing. Breakfast was varied to suit both Asian and European tastes. We did not have dinner there as we had already made plans but I would if I stayed again.
My wife and I really enjoyed our stay and the calming atmosphere in the Hotel. Strangely, we could feel comfortable by the way their staff greeted us and how warm & welcoming their smile were. ✨
We did really enjoy our Lovely Morning Breakfast. After that, we went to their indoor swimming pool. Also, they do have a Spa Treatment inside the hotel. ✅
Talk about how convenient the Hotel's location is, located in the heart of the city, which means we can walk to the riverside, Wat Botum Park, Independence Monument, or anywhere you want to visit in Phnom Penh city. ✨
Well, see you guys again soon. 🍀
Exceptional Hospitality and Thoughtful Touches
February 2026
We stayed at Palace Gate Hotel, Phnom Penh for two nights and had a truly wonderful experience. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay special. They arranged a lovely tuk-tuk tour of the city for us and surprised us with a beautiful anniversary room decoration that made the occasion truly memorable.
Our special thanks to two young ladies (Ms Sreypheak and Ms Vichika) at reception and Mr. Dara Uong for exceptional service.
As vegetarians, we often struggle with breakfast options while traveling, but the team here made special efforts to serve delicious vegetarian dishes each morning — a thoughtful touch that we greatly appreciated.
The hotel’s location is perfect — close to the Royal Palace and other key attractions — and the ambiance is elegant yet warm.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for comfort, great service, and genuine hospitality in Phnom Penh.
I wish I could give this hotel a higher rating as you can tell that, once upon a time, it would have been glorious but that would’ve maybe been in the 1950s/1960s and it’s now looking very tired and dated. Good stuff: my room was huge and I was upgraded to a suite which was lovely. The room has everything you need in terms of TV, room service etc. Breakfast was lovely and varied and taken in a beautiful setting - again very grand in an “art deco” kind of way (grand but old skool). The staff were friendly and polite. I only stayed one night so no chance to use the pool/spa but both looked great. What was a let down and which is my number one priority is sleep. The A/C was freezing no matter what temperature I selected so had to turn it off so was a bit warm but much more importantly, for someone who’s incredibly light sensitive, the curtains are not black out as described so I was awake at about 5.30am and felt lousy upon waking and for the rest of the day. I spend ages researching where to stay now that I’m older and in need of good sleep and primarily book five star (or close) properties as they usually offer good A/C and blackout curtains/blinds so I did feel let down. The interior definitely needs a refresh too; lots of limescale on taps, bath had stains, and in general the room felt very dark. If you’re someone who has no issues with sleep I’d overall recommend for breakfast, pool and value for money but I wouldn’t return myself purely for sleep factor.
