To be straightforward, my review of NCH is based on my close friend who stayed there, so if that disqualifies my opinions in your view, so be it. I did visit the property, meet Navina and explore the grounds (lots of avocado trees). The facility is rustic and simple with shared bathrooms and fans (no AC). If that is an issue, you might be wise to choose elsewhere. But Navina is amazingly friendly and helpful to tourists, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the price is extremely reasonable and the location is natural (if a bit far from the city center) Not a bad option when you come to Banlung

Amazing homestay experience! You will not regret staying here. I stopped by for two nights cycling to Hanoi and wish I could have stayed longer! Navina was very helpful getting one of my bags fixed and some paperwork printed, and just a fun person to talk to. Very knowledgeable about the area and history of Ban Lung

Navina is a wonderful person with a very interesting story if you are curious to know a bit more about it. She has been very friendly and helpful when it came to decide what I was going to do around. She also had a scooter to rent for me. Depending on the season some activities seem to be more or less interesting. We couldn't get to go to the tribal village while I was there, because no one else wanted to, but if you can do a group experience then I believe it must be really interesting. Anyway great place with great person and very calm if that is what you are searching for ;)

I’ve honestly never felt more at home at a homestay than at Navina’s. I ended up spending three more days than I planned to, and that’s all because of Navina and little KB! Navina is such a caring and wonderful person with so many stories to share. I can’t wait until i come back to Cambodia to visit them again. Thank you so much for everything Navina! I wish you the best

I had an amazing stay at this homestay! The hosts were incredibly warm, friendly, and made me feel right at home. They were always ready to help with a smile, adding a personal touch to my trip. The location was peaceful and relaxing, perfect for unwinding, yet still convenient. My room was clean, cozy, and well-maintained. Best of all, the stay offered **excellent value for money**—affordable yet good-quality, with genuine hospitality you don’t always find elsewhere. I highly recommend this homestay to budget-conscious travelers who don’t want to compromise on comfort and kindness. Will definitely stay here again! **⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐** *Thank you for such a wonderful experience!*

Katieng Waterfall

Sights 6.1 km 4.3/5 on Google

Katieng Waterfall is 6.1 km south of Navina Chilling House — a short ride rather than a walk.

Katieng Waterfall is a cascade in the countryside near Banlung, set within a small park that remains quieter than other waterfalls in the region. Visitors find a tiered drop with a cave running in a crescent shape beneath it, accessible by a steep trail with old stairs and slippery rocks. A heart-shaped lookout point serves as a photo spot. The base of the falls holds a pool deep enough for swimming, and a cave area provides shelter to rest and cool off.

The waterfall attracts consistent praise for its natural appeal and peaceful atmosphere. Visitors emphasize how deserted it feels compared to busier local attractions, and many mention the pleasant experience of swimming in the pool or exploring the cave underneath the cascade. The park charges a nominal entry fee (reported as one dollar for foreigners) and vendors nearby sell refreshments including sugarcane juice. A note of caution appears in reviews about the slippery rocks and uneven terrain—the trail requires careful footing, and at least one visitor raised concerns about potential snakes. The waterfall location is also home to an elephant trek operated by local handlers; opinions on this activity vary, with some visitors noting the elephants are chained but have forest space to roam.

The site is accessible year-round with no specific opening hours restrictions. Plan for roughly 30 to 45 minutes travel from Banlung city centre, though roads can be confusing and mobile signal is unreliable in the area. Asking locals for directions is advisable if uncertain. Wear sturdy shoes with good grip for the rocky terrain and bring a change of clothes if you intend to swim. It suits visitors seeking a quiet natural setting away from crowded attractions, though those uncomfortable with wet and uneven surfaces should consider the physical demands before visiting.
