I am just coming to the end of my 3mth trip travelling from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia & i am currently in Morocco i have stayed in alot of accommodations, but this hotel i can honestly say i would go back tomorrow if i could, it ticked all the boxs from a lovely welcome, the staff were wonderful very nice & helpful, my room was spacious big comfy bed, balcony, tea/coffee electric kettle, fridge a bath, shampoo etc plenty of clean towels, fresh water brought to my room each day with housekeeping if you wanted it, breakfast included in the very best price, swimming pool with pool towels, plenty of sun beds, lovely lush green gardens all very well cared for, admittedly its abit far out location wise but it's so peaceful, there is a tuk tuk there waiting to take you wherever you want lovely man cheap prices, although I enjoyed the walk, i can not rate this hotel enough, i got to Morocco a favourite place of mine but i longed to be back in the Kouprey Hotel Thankyou for making my stay in Siem Reap a brilliant memory my favourite hotel in 3mths.

Top-notch services. The pool was impeccably clean, and the view from our room was absolutely superb. The breakfast was delicious, varied, and satisfying. What truly made our stay exceptional was the staff—a solid 10/10! They were incredibly friendly, attentive, and always eager to help with anything we needed, making us feel very welcome and well taken care of. Highly recommended!

The hotel was impressively spacious and well-maintained, nestled in a scenic setting featuring a beautiful garden adorned with orchids. It also has a large swimming pool. The overall atmosphere was peaceful and inviting. The staff, including the manager, were warm, welcoming, and extremely respectful, making us feel truly valued throughout our stay. The restaurant was hygienic and, most importantly, quiet, allowing for a peaceful dining experience. The chef kindly customized the food to accommodate our dietary needs, which was greatly appreciated. If we come back to Cambodia ever again, we will definitely at Kouprey!

Very quiet at night and an AMAZING SWIMMING POOL. you can do lengths in this pool. Very nice surrounding garden. This is a fairly cheap hotel but the pool is sensational and the staff cant do enough for you. Breakfast is unlimited buffet until 10am. For what it costs I dont think you can expect more. I asked for beans every day and got them. I asked for papaya one day when it wasn't out front and they prepared me some. Eggs are cold sir? We will cook you fresh eggs. Bottle of wine in a cooler sat next to this pool with the birds chattering, for minimal money. Smashing. FYI : Kouprey is an extinct breed of Ox, native to Kampuchea. The lobby feels like you're in Spain, with statues of bulls everywhere. The whole place is completely spotless.

Aum Yoga Center, Siem Reap, Cambodia

Sport & fitness 1.6 km 20 min walk 5.0/5 on Google

Aum Yoga Center, Siem Reap, Cambodia is 1.6 km east of Kouprey Hotel — about 20 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “sport & fitness”.

The other place under “sport & fitness” within reach of Kouprey Hotel is MR.LY Gym and Boxing (2.4 km).

Aum Yoga Center sits on the grounds of Angkor Grace in Siem Reap and offers a full studio setup rather than a single yoga room: showers, lockers, a bathroom, drinking water, books and sofas for lingering before or after class. The schedule runs across styles — Hatha, Vinyasa, aerial yoga, aqua yoga and sound-focused sessions that use crystal bowls, chanting or a teacher's voice during shavasana, sometimes from hammocks. The space itself is designed around greenery and natural materials, giving it a calmer, more resort-like feel than a typical studio.

Visitors consistently single out two things: the cleanliness of the facility, down to guests noting their feet stay clean after barefoot practice, and the quality of the teachers, described repeatedly as professional, attentive and patient with beginners. The aerial yoga class comes up often, with newcomers saying the instructors make the inversions feel manageable rather than intimidating. Several guests who took daily morning classes during their stay describe the routine as genuinely energizing, and one mentions considering relocating to Siem Reap partly because of the center. No complaints or caveats surface in the reviews gathered here.

It is open daily from 7:30 in the morning to 7 in the evening, which allows for an early class before sightseeing or a later one to unwind. Given the range of styles offered, it suits both regular practitioners looking to keep a routine going while travelling and first-timers curious about aerial or aqua yoga in a low-pressure setting. Reviewers who attended multiple sessions in a single week suggest it rewards repeat visits rather than a single drop-in, so travellers with a few days in Siem Reap are likely to get the most out of it.

Restaurants 1.7 km 21 min walk 4.9/5 on Google

Graines de Piaf is 1.7 km south-east of Kouprey Hotel — about 21 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from Kouprey Hotel are Mesa - Restaurant (2.0 km) and Wild (2.3 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Tucked on Funky Lane in Siem Reap, Graines de Piaf is a small French restaurant open evenings only, run by a French owner who cooks and often talks guests through the menu himself. Dishes mentioned by visitors include bavette, magret de canard, pork filet with truffle sauce, duck in mustard sauce, beef fillet and creme brûlé, with meals typically served with salad and bread in the French style, alongside wine the owner is happy to pair with the food.

Reviews are consistently positive, with guests praising the quality and freshness of the cooking, reasonable prices, and the warmth of the owner, who is repeatedly described as friendly, passionate and attentive, including to non-French speakers thanks to an English menu. The one recurring caveat is space: the dining room is small and can get crowded and noisy on busy nights, with karaoke inside, so some diners have ended up seated outside among smokers, which they actually found quieter than the interior.

This is a place for an evening meal rather than a casual lunch, since it only opens from 6pm to midnight. It suits travellers who have had their fill of local cuisine and want a properly cooked French dinner with wine, or anyone curious about a small, personally run kitchen rather than a large restaurant. Given the limited seating and evident popularity, arriving early or booking ahead is worth considering, especially on weekends, and those who prefer a quiet indoor setting might ask about seating before committing to a table.

Spa & wellness 1.7 km 21 min walk 4.9/5 on Google

Relax Spa is 1.7 km south-east of Kouprey Hotel — about 21 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “spa & wellness”.

The next two places under “spa & wellness” from Kouprey Hotel are The Secret Eden Spa (1.8 km) and The Spa Siem Reap (1.9 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Relax Spa sits right next to the Park Hyatt in central Siem Reap, offering massage and body treatments in private rooms. Visitors mention a welcome of tea on arrival, a cold towel and refreshment before treatments, and a hot beverage plus fresh mango afterward. Massage oils come in a choice of scents, including lemongrass, and the facility itself is described as clean, spacious and well air-conditioned. Options mentioned by guests include shoulder, back, neck and head massages, foot massages, full body massages, and couples sessions.

Reviews are consistently positive and repeatedly note steady, well-judged pressure from therapists held for the full duration, friendly and professional staff, and a calm, comfortable atmosphere that some guests connect to Khmer and Buddhist sensibilities. Several reviewers highlight promotional discounts, including a 50% off deal that made longer sessions, such as a two-hour massage, feel like good value. A couple of guests mention personal touches, such as staff arranging a small birthday surprise. No significant complaints appear across the reviews, though the frequent mention of time-limited promotions suggests standard rates may differ from what some visitors paid.

The spa is open daily from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM, making it workable for an evening treatment after a day at the temples or a pre-dinner stop given its Central Park location. Given its popularity and the mentions of discounted packages, it is worth asking about current promotions when booking, and reserving ahead if you want a specific time slot or a couples room. It suits travellers wanting a straightforward, comfortable massage experience in a convenient, easy-to-find location rather than a resort-style wellness retreat.

The Heritage Walk

Shopping 1.7 km 21 min walk 4.0/5 on Google

The Heritage Walk is 1.7 km south-east of Kouprey Hotel — about 21 minutes on foot.

The Heritage Walk is an upscale shopping complex in Siem Reap designed around a hybrid concept that blends indoor retail with outdoor and natural features. The mall includes a multiplex cinema, a handful of international food chains (Starbucks, Domino's, Pizza Company, Dairy Queen), a few retail outlets such as Miniso, and a basement play area. The building itself is spacious with thoughtful architectural layout, but much of the retail space sits empty.

Visitors consistently note that the mall feels quiet and under-occupied, with only a fraction of shops and restaurants operating. Most reviewers describe the atmosphere as deserted or declining, with limited variety for browsing or shopping. The practical reality for many is that the mall functions mainly as a spot for coffee or a quick meal rather than a destination for serious shopping. While the concept was apparently sound, the execution has not drawn sustained foot traffic, leaving large sections of the facility closed or vacant.

The mall operates daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Parking is paid, though the fee is waived if you make a purchase; visitors should note that a lost parking ticket incurs a 5,000 riel penalty. It suits visitors seeking air-conditioned dining options, a movie, or a coffee break in a quieter setting, but it is not the place to rely on for variety in shopping or dining unless you are specifically after one of the anchoring chains. The contrast between its designed potential and current activity level is notable enough that reviews suggest checking what is actually open before making the trip.

Cinema 1.8 km 22 min walk 4.5/5 on Google

Legend Cinemas Siem Reap is 1.8 km south-east of Kouprey Hotel — about 22 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “cinema”.

The other place under “cinema” within reach of Kouprey Hotel is Sabay Cinema Siem Reap (2.1 km).

Legend Cinemas Siem Reap is a multiplex cinema in the city centre offering standard and premium screening options. Visitors find well-maintained halls with spacious seating, good air conditioning, and controlled lighting. The cinema shows films in original versions with subtitles across 2D, 3D, and VIP screening rooms. Regular tickets cost around $3.50, with premium VIP options available at higher prices. Online ticketing is straightforward and accepts credit card payment without requiring account registration.

Guests consistently praise the comfort of the seats and the quality of the sound system. The air conditioning is noted as effective, and the cinema stays cool even during afternoon screenings. Staff are described as helpful and friendly. Several visitors mention the VIP theatre option, which includes reclining La-Z-Boy style seats, blankets, and complimentary snacks and drinks brought to your seat. Prices across the board—for tickets, snacks, and drinks—are reported as very affordable compared to cinemas elsewhere. No significant complaints appear in visitor feedback.

The cinema is open daily from 9 AM to 10:30 PM, making it accessible for both afternoon and evening screenings. It suits anyone wanting a comfortable, air-conditioned escape in Siem Reap, whether watching a mainstream release or catching up on international films. The VIP option works well for couples or anyone seeking a more relaxed, cushioned experience. Given the modest ticket prices and friendly service, it's worth checking what's currently screening before visiting.

Made in Cambodia Market

Sights 1.8 km 23 min walk 4.4/5 on Google

Made in Cambodia Market is 1.8 km south-east of Kouprey Hotel — about 23 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “sights”.

The next two places under “sights” from Kouprey Hotel are Royal Residence (2.0 km) and Pub Street (2.0 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Made in Cambodia Market is a curated marketplace on Oum Khun Street selling locally made handicrafts, jewelry, and silk scarves alongside street food stalls. It differs from Siem Reap's larger tourist markets by operating at a smaller scale with a focus on artisan-made goods: handcrafted jewelry, brass and copper items, textiles, handbags, and artwork. The market also stocks local alcohol options. Benches near the entrance provide a place to rest between browsing.

Visitors consistently praise the atmosphere and product quality. The market is calm, well-organized, and notably clean compared to busier markets. Shopkeeping styles differ markedly from high-pressure sales tactics found elsewhere; staff are described as friendly and non-pushy, allowing browsing at leisure. The goods carry higher prices than mass-produced souvenirs, reflecting their handmade nature and quality. Repeat visitors mention specific stallholders like jewelry maker Say Sieng. The main reservation from reviews is cost: this is not the place for budget shopping, though visitors who prioritize quality over price consistently say it justifies the expense.

The market opens daily from noon to 9 PM. It suits travellers looking for distinctive, genuinely Cambodian souvenirs rather than generic tourist stock, and those who prefer a relaxed shopping environment without crowds or negotiation pressure. Allow an hour to browse comfortably. If you're staying in central Siem Reap and want to support local artisans while shopping in a pleasant setting, it's worth the visit; if your priority is finding bargains, look elsewhere.

The next two places under “spa & wellness” from Kouprey Hotel are Relax Spa (1.7 km) and The Spa Siem Reap (1.9 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

The Secret Eden Spa sits on Sok San Road in central Siem Reap, offering massage and body treatments in a setting visitors describe as peaceful and quietly designed. The spa provides shuttle pickup and drop-off to and from hotels, and treatment rooms are separate, clean spaces with private facilities. Visitors consistently mention the calm atmosphere and the quality of the massage work itself as reasons to return.

Guests praise the skill of the therapists and the accuracy of deep tissue work, with several noting they have had better massages here than elsewhere. The reasonable pricing relative to the quality of treatment comes up repeatedly. Staff are described as warm and welcoming—the reception area greets visitors with iced tea and a cold face cloth. Communication through WhatsApp for same-day bookings is reportedly fast. No significant complaints appear in visitor feedback; the main point of consistent recommendation is the combination of professional technique, peaceful setting, and value.

The spa opens daily from 9:30 AM to 10:00 PM (closed Sundays). It suits anyone in Siem Reap wanting a massage or body scrub without the hassle of arranging transport, and works well for repeat treatments during a stay. Booking through their WhatsApp number appears to be the practical approach, particularly if you want same-day availability. The location on a quieter lane means you can step away from central Siem Reap's busier streets.

Parks & nature 1.8 km 23 min walk 4.7/5 on Google

Flying Foxes is 1.8 km east of Kouprey Hotel — about 23 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “parks & nature”.

The next two places under “parks & nature” from Kouprey Hotel are Cambodian-Vietnamese War Memorial (1.9 km) and Royal Independence Gardens (1.9 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Flying Foxes is a bat colony in central Siem Reap that roosts in trees within an urban park. These are large bats, comparable in size to small cats, with wingspans that make them distinctive when airborne. The colony remains active throughout the day, though visitors report they are most animated at sunrise and sunset. The site is free to visit and accessible at any time, sitting amid everyday city life—near a temple, vendors, and open to foot traffic and local residents using the space for exercise or recreation.

Visitors consistently emphasize the experience as remarkable and worth multiple visits. Many note the surreal coexistence of the bats with human activity: people playing badminton or doing morning exercises in close proximity while the bats go about their routines undisturbed by noise, music, or crowds. The colony is reliable—reviewers mention returning night after night across visits spanning days or weeks. Some visitors bring drinks and settle in to watch. One caveat: the surrounding area can be loud, with temple drumming and amplified music from nearby venues, though this apparently does not deter the bats. Weather can be unpredictable, and heavy rain sometimes forces early departures.

Sunrise is the optimal time to visit, when the bats are most active and the air is cooler. The site requires no tickets or advance booking. Bring a camera if you wish to photograph them, though their erratic flight patterns make still photography challenging—video may be more practical. The location suits anyone interested in wildlife behavior and natural history, and the free access makes it a low-commitment addition to a Siem Reap itinerary. Plan for the noise and crowds around the site, which are part of the urban context where these bats have chosen to live.
