This is one of the greatest escape locations. Calmness, peaceful feeling, warm human hospitality (from arrival to departure), proximity to nature, etc. You can either enjoy your favorite books in silence (within the relaxed ambience of Kampot's constant rain shower), lay down in a cool mini waterfall just behind the Chalet, let the cool water flow pass you and forget about everything (for a while), take a morning walk up a nearby hill, or walk to the newly discovered Veal Pouch waterfall (if you have an adventurous soul). I surely will escape here again.

While not catering to everyone's taste, this place beckons those who hold nature dear. With sweeping mountain panoramas and the gentle cadence of a natural creek just steps from your room, this is the destination tailored to your heart's longing. Beyond offering a tranquil haven, it extends an invitation to break free from the hustle of our weekdays and the urban clamor. Whether you're enchanted by mountain vistas or find solace in the soothing murmur of a meandering creek, this sanctuary guarantees an escape that revitalizes and calms.

Veal Pouch Waterfall

Sights 1.2 km 15 min walk 4.1/5 on Google

Veal Pouch Waterfall is 1.2 km north-west of Chalet LN-Kampot — about 15 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “sights”.

The next two places under “sights” from Chalet LN-Kampot are Farm Link (5.1 km) and Seahorse Statue (6.0 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Veal Pouch Waterfall sits about 5 kilometres from Kampot town along a dirt road accessible by motorbike. Visitors drive to a parking area, then walk roughly 30 minutes uphill through jungle to reach the main waterfall and river pool. The site has hammocks for lounging, basic shops selling water and snacks, and local attendants who charge around 1,000 to 2,000 riel for bike minding.

The experience depends heavily on season and recent rainfall. Visitors who arrive during or just after the wet season describe a pleasant day out with a functioning waterfall and enough water to swim in. Those coming in the dry months—April through May—often find the stream dried up or reduced to a trickle, making the trip a disappointing hike rather than a swim. The jungle scenery itself is consistently praised as beautiful and peaceful, though multiple visitors note that the area suffers from significant litter along the trails, which detracts from the natural setting. The motorbike journey up an uneven dirt road is manageable but rough.

Go in the rainy season or shortly after for the best chance of seeing water. Check recent visitor reports or ask locally about current conditions before making the trip, as seasonal variation makes a huge difference. The walk is straightforward but takes stamina; wear appropriate footwear. It suits travellers content with basic facilities who want a quiet half-day outing in nature, though those expecting pristine jungle or reliable waterfall photography should manage expectations accordingly.

Royal Kampot KTV is a karaoke bar in central Kampot that operates around the clock. The venue offers private karaoke rooms, including a Diamond room noted for its appearance, and serves food described as healthy and fast-casual in style. The setting attracts both local and visiting clientele.

Guests consistently praise the friendliness of staff and describe receiving respectful treatment during their visits. The management and female staff members draw particular mention for attentiveness. Some visitors highlight the VIP treatment available to clients. One reservation worth noting: the cashier service has been flagged as disorganized by at least one visitor, though this does not reflect the broader feedback about the venue's hospitality.

The bar is open every day of the week without closing time, making it accessible at any hour. It sits on NR3 highway in Kampot town. The venue appears to suit groups looking for private karaoke sessions and those seeking a social environment with attentive service, though those sensitive to administrative efficiency at the payment stage may want to mentally prepare for a slower checkout.

Visitors find a working sanctuary where rescued dogs live and socialise throughout the day, with drinks and light refreshments available. The bar operates from a riverside location where guests can spend time with the animals, and the owner offers boat cruises down the river at sunset as part of the experience.

What makes the place distinctive is the genuine care visitors observe in how the dogs are treated. Guests consistently mention the owner's deep commitment to animal welfare and the dogs' visible contentment and friendliness. The staff are described as kind and knowledgeable about dog behaviour and rehabilitation. Visitors appreciate that there is no entrance fee, with support coming through purchasing drinks or merchandise. A few reviewers noted they returned multiple times during their stay, suggesting the experience holds up to repeat visits.

It suits anyone spending time in Kampot with an interest in animals or who wants to support rescue work while having a drink by the water. Farm Link is 5.1 km east of Chalet LN-Kampot — a short ride rather than a walk. It is among the three closest places to the hotel under “sights”.

The next two places under “sights” from Chalet LN-Kampot are Veal Pouch Waterfall (1.2 km) and Seahorse Statue (6.0 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Farm Link is a working pepper cooperative and educational space in central Kampot that showcases the production of the region's famous pepper. Visitors tour a small processing facility and farm plot where staff demonstrate how black, red, and white pepper are sorted, dried, and prepared. The cooperative collects harvests from dozens of local small farmers. You can handle and taste different pepper varieties alongside other products the group produces, including long pepper, vanilla, salt, and sugar.

Staff consistently earn praise for their knowledge and friendliness, patiently explaining the labour-intensive processes behind each pepper type and answering questions in French and English. Visitors repeatedly mention the value proposition: Kampot pepper costs notably less here than at local markets, and staff will guide you through the tasting and selection process without pressure. The cooperative model itself appeals to those interested in supporting local farming directly. A minor note appears in one review about impulse buying—the prices and variety apparently make it easy to leave with more than planned.

The site operates mornings and early afternoons, closed around midday. Plan for a 30 to 45-minute visit. It suits anyone with interest in how local products are made, those seeking authentic souvenirs at reasonable prices, and travellers wanting context on Kampot's agricultural identity. The hands-on elements—smelling, tasting, watching manual sorting—make it accessible to most visitors regardless of expertise. Allow time before a midday closure if you're visiting in the morning slot.

Restaurants 5.6 km 4.9/5 on Google

BaZaar Café & Healing Space is 5.6 km east of Chalet LN-Kampot — a short ride rather than a walk. It is the closest place to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from Chalet LN-Kampot are Vanna Restaurant & Bar in Kampot (5.9 km) and Laundry Cafe Burger Bar (5.9 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Tucked away in Kampot, this café pairs homemade, health-oriented food with a garden setting at the back, complete with hammocks. The signature order across visits is the Buddha bowl, alongside kefir, mango lassi, tonics, and a chocolate cookie that regulars keep coming back for. Beyond food, the space leans into its "healing" name with offerings like tarot readings, and the overall feel is artistic and calm rather than a quick-stop café.

Guests are consistently enthusiastic about the food quality, describing it as fresh, clearly homemade, and flavourful, with the Buddha bowl mentioned again and again as the reason to visit. The garden seating and hammocks come up repeatedly as a highlight, giving the place a relaxed, unhurried atmosphere that some visitors returned to daily. The one practical gripe is the lack of air conditioning, noticeable on hot days since the space is open-air. Prices are described as higher than typical local spots, though reviewers who mention this generally feel the quality justifies it, and cash-only payment has been noted as well.

This suits travellers looking for a slower, more contemplative meal rather than a fast bite, and it works well for an afternoon of tea and cake as much as a full meal. It is open daily except Sunday, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, so it is not an evening dinner option. Given the open-air setup, arriving earlier in the day or in cooler weather may be more comfortable. Bring cash, and if the garden and hammocks are part of the appeal, allow enough time to actually sit and stay rather than just eat and go.

Restaurants 5.9 km 4.8/5 on Google

Vanna Restaurant & Bar in Kampot is 5.9 km east of Chalet LN-Kampot — a short ride rather than a walk. It is among the three closest places to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from Chalet LN-Kampot are BaZaar Café & Healing Space (5.6 km) and Laundry Cafe Burger Bar (5.9 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Vanna Restaurant & Bar sits on Street number 735 in Kampot, serving a menu that ranges from Khmer-leaning dishes like squid with green pepper and chicken satay to French-influenced plates such as pan-fried chicken breast in a special sauce. Portions are generously described by regulars, desserts get particular attention, and the setting is described as relaxed rather than formal, the kind of place suited to a proper sit-down evening meal rather than a quick bite.

Guests are consistently enthusiastic here, with the ice cream, palm sugar and grilled pineapple dessert coming up again and again as a highlight, alongside dishes like the beef saraman, fried shrimp and the chicken avocado salad, which is offered in two portion sizes. Several reviewers single out the owner, described as French and attentive, for spending real time talking diners through the extensive menu. The one point of disagreement is seasoning: while most find the food well balanced, at least one visitor found the sauce on the signature Vanna chicken too sour, so those sensitive to acidity might ask before ordering.

The restaurant is open daily from 11am to 11pm except Saturdays, when it is closed, and Sundays, when it opens later in the evening from 5pm. Given the size of the menu and the care taken over recommendations, it suits diners happy to take a little time choosing rather than those in a rush. It works well for a relaxed lunch or a longer evening meal, and the consistently high volume of positive feedback suggests booking ahead or arriving without a strict time pressure, particularly if planning to try one of the more elaborate dishes or desserts.

Laundry Cafe Burger Bar is a casual burger restaurant on Street 74 in central Kampot, serving made-to-order burgers alongside steaks and fries. The space has a relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff and a music playlist that suits lingering over a meal. Portions are generous.

Visitors consistently praise the quality of the beef patties, which are juicy and cooked well, paired with fresh buns and thoughtful topping combinations—the swiss cheese and jalapeño cheese fries appear frequently in reviews. Prices are reasonable for the quality; a Friday discount brings most burgers down to $5. The main drawback is popularity: the restaurant draws crowds, and waits of around 40 minutes are common during peak times. One reviewer noted the buns could benefit from more toasting, though this is a minor note among otherwise strong feedback.

The restaurant opens daily from noon to 10 PM, making it suitable for lunch or dinner. It works well if you're staying in Kampot town and want a reliable meal without fuss. Plan to arrive outside busy hours if you prefer not to wait, or embrace the wait as part of the experience—the volume of returning visitors suggests most think it worthwhile. It suits travellers craving straightforward, quality burgers rather than fine dining.

Kampot Adventure Tours is 5.9 km east of Chalet LN-Kampot — a short ride rather than a walk.

Kampot Adventure Tours operates kayaking and quad bike excursions around Kampot, with tours typically lasting four hours. Visitors depart from the riverside near Starbucks for guided trips that combine boat transport to launch points with time on the water through mangrove areas. The outfit also offers kayak rentals for independent paddlers. Tours include stops at local attractions such as salt lakes, pagodas, and coconut beaches, with some including visits to salt farming families.

Guides consistently receive praise for local knowledge and attentiveness. Visitors mention that both the boat rides to kayak spots and the paddling itself are engaging, with mangrove sections described as quiet and tranquil. One guide named Chris appears across multiple positive reviews. A quad bike tour visitor noted complimentary refreshments and an introduction to a local salt farming family. However, one visitor renting a kayak at 4pm found that the transport ride back and forth from the main office to the kayak launch point was not included in the rental price, so clarify what is covered before booking. Another visitor experienced a capsized kayak early in their trip but reported the guides responded helpfully.

Tours suit visitors seeking outdoor activity combined with local insight rather than purely leisure time. Morning departures appear common. Wear clothes you are willing to get wet and dirty, and bring sunglasses for water glare. Book ahead through the office on Street 722 in central Kampot. If you are renting rather than joining a guided tour, confirm transport arrangements and costs upfront.
