We had such a great time at Banyan Tree. We wanted to stay for two nights but ended up staying 5 nights. The hostel is newly renovated and the atmosphere is just amazing. It’s located right in front of the river, you can go for a refreshing swim and also rent some kayaks. The staff is very helpful and just lovely, they organized some tours for us and we could also rent a bike with them. They’ll take care of you and help you with everything they can. We booked the standard bungalow and it was clean, modern and cozy and got cleaned daily. Food is very delicious as well (great value for money!) our favorite was the fish amok and the traditional lok lak. We definitely come back one day and can totally recommend staying there!

Amazing place to relax with beautiful river views. The room was clean, smelled fresh, and was reasonably priced. We had a new experience with kayaking, and motorbikes are also available for rent. The staff were friendly and helpful. We’ll definitely come back!

I had a wonderful stay at the hotel. Everything was clean, comfortable, and beautifully designed. The atmosphere was calm and welcoming, perfect for relaxing. Sopha was especially helpful and kind, making the experience even better. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and well-managed stay.

I came to Banyan Tree planning to stay 4 days. I ended up staying over 3 weeks. This place is more than a hostel. It's where the river slows you down, the trees offer you shade and mangos drop on the roof to wake you up with nature's little alarm clock. You start your day with laughter and end it with the warmth of people who feel like old friends, even if you just met. Sopha and the entire team here didn't just make me feel welcome-they made me feel like I belonged. They taught me local games, shared slices of Khmer life, and never once let me feel alone on my solo journey. When I left, they even let me cook a meal for them as a goodbye gesture- something I'll always carry with me. Whether I was lounging in a hammock by the river, playing cards at the bar, or sitting in silence under the stars, something about this place helped me come home to myself. If you're looking for nature, community, and those unexpected moments that stay with you long after you've gone-this is it. Thank you, Banyan Tree. You gave me more than just a bed. You gave me stories, soul, peace

Krang Sra Mor Market

Markets 135.8 km 4.3/5 on Google

Krang Sra Mor Market is 135.8 km north of Banyan Tree Hostel — a short ride rather than a walk.

Krang Sra Mor Market is a roadside market in Svay Chuk commune, Kampong Speu, that lines both sides of the road leading toward Phnom Preah That resort. Stalls sell a mix of everyday goods: fresh meat and fish, vegetables and fruits, clothes, shoes, and phones. It functions as a practical supply point for the area rather than a tourist destination, with vendors operating from simple roadside positions.

Visitors describe it as a straightforward, working market. Those who have stopped there note the availability of quality natural beef meat and appreciate the range of goods on offer. There are no significant complaints in reviews, though visitors should understand this is a local market without the facilities or polish of larger urban markets.

The market is best visited during daytime hours when vendors are actively trading. It sits along a main road, making it easy to access if you are heading toward Phnom Preah That or travelling through Svay Chuk. This suits visitors who want to pick up supplies or groceries while staying in the area, or anyone with a practical interest in how local markets operate away from tourist zones.
