Vanne Hotel

Romcheik 5 Artspace & Café is 404 m north-west of Vanne Hotel — about 5 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from Vanne Hotel are Smokin' Pot Authentic Cambodian Restaurant and Cooking School (890 m) and The Fringe Cafe & Yoga Studio (903 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Romcheik 5 combines an art gallery, café, and workspace in a single venue on Street 201A. The ground and lower floors house Cambodia's first modern art museum, displaying permanent works by four resident artists alongside rotating exhibitions of local contemporary pieces. Upstairs is a rooftop café with views toward a Buddhist temple, serving coffee, healthy food, and drinks in an air-conditioned space with plants and natural light. Some artworks are available for purchase, and a small gift shop stocks books, prints, and scarves.

Visitors consistently praise the quality of the coffee and food, noting the variety and occasional fusion flavors. The service receives repeated mention for being attentive and genuinely welcoming. The art collection itself draws appreciation for its curation and its engagement with Cambodian history through modern artistic expression. The overall atmosphere—quiet, tastefully designed, and suited to both relaxation and working—emerges as a strong point. One regular described it as a place they genuinely missed after leaving the city. The caveat worth noting: photography of the exhibited works is not permitted.

The entrance fee to the gallery is 5 USD; spending at least 8 USD at the café grants free museum access. The space closes Mondays but operates Tuesday through Sunday from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. It suits visitors looking for a break from Battambang's busier commercial areas, those interested in contemporary Cambodian art and local artists, and anyone wanting reliable coffee and thoughtful food in a composed setting.

Nature Boutique Spa is 582 m north-west of Vanne Hotel — about 7 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “spa & wellness”.

The other place under “spa & wellness” within reach of Vanne Hotel is Lemongrass Garden Spa and Massage, Battambang (960 m).

Nature Boutique Spa sits east of the Sangker River in Battambang, offering massage, facial, and body scrub treatments. The spa provides package deals combining services—visitors mention a couples massage with facial for $35 and multi-service retreat packages. Facilities include shower access before and after treatments, a waiting area with tea, fruit, and juice, and snacks for guests. The space is described as clean and comfortable, though massage areas have curtains rather than full doors.

Visitors consistently praise the professionalism and attentiveness of the staff, with language barriers not presenting a problem for communication. The quality of facials stands out; guests with sensitive skin report no adverse reactions and noticeable skin improvement. The overall atmosphere is described as relaxing and flawlessly clean. One notable caveat appears in reviews about pressure levels: a guest who requested a Deep Relief Massage found it insufficiently deep and had to ask for more pressure, suggesting it is worth being specific about your preferences when booking. Most other guests report satisfaction, though experiences vary.

The spa operates from 10 AM to 9 PM most days, though Thursday opens until 1:30 AM and Sunday hours are not listed, so confirm in advance. It is reachable on Street 200. Booking ahead is recommended, particularly if you have specific massage preferences. The location near a coffee spot makes it convenient for a half-day wellness stop during a Battambang visit, and the shuttle-friendly facilities (nearby showers, timing that works with overnight travel) appeal to visitors on bus routes through the city.

Zodiac Cafe and Movie is 589 m west of Vanne Hotel — about 7 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “cafés & bakeries”.

The next two places under “cafés & bakeries” from Vanne Hotel are Starbucks Cafe (715 m) and Ktrey-Ktrok (903 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Zodiac Cafe and Movie is a cafe in Battambang with an industrial aesthetic and a stated focus on film. The space features distinctive decoration that visitors regularly mention, and the cafe stocks books in Khmer. Coffee is the main draw, priced around 1.85 dollars, prepared by staff who speak English.

Visitors are divided on the coffee itself. Some find it good and well-executed, while others have found it disappointing enough to leave unfinished, so expectations should be modest on this front. What draws more consistent praise is the overall atmosphere and vibe, described as nice for relaxing, plus the friendliness of the staff. Food options appear limited, which a few visitors have noted as a constraint if you arrive hungry. The cafe is open daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Zodiac works best as a place to spend an hour with a book or to sit quietly rather than as a destination for a full meal. It suits travellers looking for a local-feeling spot with character rather than a coffee specialist venue, and those who want a calm environment to work or read during the day.

This Starbucks sits on National Road 5 as you approach Battambang from Phnom Penh, offering the chain's standard handcrafted coffee, espresso, tea, and pastries alongside breakfast and lunch items. The space has decent seating, clean facilities, and ample parking. It operates daily from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Visitors consistently praise the drinks and service quality. Several mention trying seasonal flavours that differ from Western locations, sometimes pleasantly surprised by how the staff interprets orders—one guest received a honey grapefruit cold brew made as a frappe, which they found refreshing. The venue appears spacious enough for lingering. However, one visitor noted the service felt impersonal compared to other branches, citing lack of traditional Cambodian greetings and the staff not asking for names when taking orders. There was also confusion over a promotion mentioned on the cafe's Facebook page, which staff initially denied before correcting themselves about a Vienna latte deal.

Go if you want reliable coffee and familiar Starbucks quality during travel on the Phnom Penh–Battambang route. The setting suits both quick stops and longer stays. Be aware this is a franchise location without reserve menu items, and service approaches vary—some visits bring notably warm interactions while others feel more transactional. WiFi availability was not confirmed by reviewers.

National Museum is 830 m west of Vanne Hotel — about 10 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “museums & galleries”.

The next two places under “museums & galleries” from Vanne Hotel are HUMAN GALLERY - Joseba Etxebarria Photography (947 m) and Mrs. Bun Roeung’s Ancient House (2.6 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

The National Museum in Battambang holds a modest collection of Khmer artifacts spanning prehistoric and historical periods. Visitors find pottery, sandstone carvings, statues, and reproductions from the Hoabinhien culture and both Pre-Angkorian and Angkorian eras. The museum is small and unfussy in presentation, with displays organized clearly and labelled in English. Staff are noted as friendly and helpful. Most people spend 30 to 45 minutes here.

Visitors consistently praise the museum as a peaceful, clean space that offers genuine insight into local history and Khmer culture. Those interested in archaeology appreciate the well-organized layout and the reproduction pieces showing daily life from prehistoric periods. The main reservation is scale and comfort: the building is not air-conditioned, which some visitors find uncomfortable in the Cambodian heat, and the presentation is simpler than larger regional museums like those in Siem Reap. The entry fee is 3 USD per person for foreigners, with no further donation required.

The museum opens Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM. It suits travellers spending time in Battambang who want to understand the province's archaeological heritage beyond its colonial architecture and river scenery. Go early in the morning or after 2:00 PM to avoid the midday heat.

Smokin' Pot Authentic Cambodian Restaurant and Cooking School is 890 m north-west of Vanne Hotel — about 11 minutes on foot. Of the 5 places under “restaurants” within a kilometre of the hotel, this is the best rated.

The next two places under “restaurants” from Vanne Hotel are Romcheik 5 Artspace & Café (404 m) and The Fringe Cafe & Yoga Studio (903 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Smokin' Pot is a family-run Cambodian restaurant on Street 1.5 in Battambang that doubles as a cooking school, offering home-style Khmer dishes rather than the standard street fare of noodles and fried rice. Fish amok and Khmer pork curry are among the dishes regularly mentioned, with meals typically priced around five dollars and portions described as generous. The cooking classes are a major part of what the place is known for, usually starting with a trip to the local market to buy fresh ingredients before heading to the family home to cook alongside them.

Visitors consistently praise the authenticity of the food and the warmth of the owner, Vannak, who is described as knowledgeable, welcoming, and happy to talk about local cuisine and the area over a meal. Several reviewers who came in for food ended up booking a cooking class on the spot after chatting with him, and say the experience did not disappoint, from the market visit to the hands-on cooking and the recipes provided to take home. Vegetarian and vegan diners are mentioned as being well accommodated, and repeat visits within the same trip come up more than once, suggesting the food holds up on return visits.

The restaurant is open daily from 9am to 10pm, with no hours listed for Sunday, so it is worth checking ahead if planning to visit that day. Those interested in the cooking class should allow a few hours, since it includes a market trip and cooking at the family's home before eating together. It suits travellers who want a slower, more personal introduction to Khmer food, whether they are stopping for a straightforward meal or looking to learn a few dishes to take home.

A café, yoga studio and art gallery combined in the heart of Battambang, on Street 2. Visitors find a garden dining area with comfortable seating alongside indoor tables, a menu that mixes Cambodian dishes with Western and healthy options, fresh juices, and a relaxed, creative space that doubles as a community hub. Beyond the food, the venue runs yoga classes, group runs or walks, and a Kitchen Tales tour that takes guests through Battambang's street-food scene and local recipes.

Reviews are consistently positive about the food, singling out the green curry, veggie burger, dirty farmer salad, and the nom pang with tofu as standouts, along with the fresh juice blends and sweet bites for dessert. The garden setting and overall atmosphere come up repeatedly as reasons to linger for hours, helped by available wifi. Service is described as warm and attentive. A few guests note the eggplant dish runs spicy, and the yoga sessions, priced around three dollars, are mentioned as a worthwhile add-on rather than an afterthought.

Open Tuesday through Sunday from 8am to 10pm, closed Mondays, which is worth noting if planning a visit around a specific day. It suits travellers looking for a slower-paced meal or coffee stop with healthy options, those curious about combining food with a cultural or activity-based experience like the Kitchen Tales tour, and anyone wanting to fit in a yoga session or morning walk while in town. The garden seating and workable wifi also make it a reasonable spot to settle in for a few hours rather than a quick bite.

The next two places under “cafés & bakeries” from Vanne Hotel are Zodiac Cafe and Movie (589 m) and Starbucks Cafe (715 m), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Ktrey-Ktrok occupies a restored French colonial-era building in central Battambang, operating as a café by day and pub by night. The space blends period architecture with modern café fixtures, decorated with Khmer antiques. Visitors will find coffee drinks alongside a selection of other beverages, with an air-conditioned second floor available alongside ground-level open-air seating. The menu includes options like matcha lattes and cappuccinos, and the café stocks oat milk at no extra charge.

Visitors consistently praise the coffee quality and staff friendliness. The setting draws repeated mention—the vintage building itself and the quiet street location appeal to those seeking atmosphere alongside caffeine. Several guests noted the availability of non-dairy milk options and the cleanliness of the space. Pricing comes up as reasonable. One minor note: the venue transforms into a cocktail bar in the evenings with music, which suits some visitors but may not appeal to those seeking a calm café atmosphere after dark.

The café opens from 7 AM to midnight Monday through Saturday; Sunday hours are not listed. It sits on Road 2 in a fairly quiet part of town, making it suitable for morning work sessions or afternoon breaks. The dual function—café by day, bar by night—means timing matters depending on what you want from a visit. The non-dairy milk policy makes it practical for those with dietary preferences, and the complementary cookies and water mentioned by some guests suggest attentive service.
