About Soksan 66 Guest House

Soksan 66 Guest House is a family-run guest house at Srah Emm in Preah Vihear, northern Cambodia. It is a plain, practical place to sleep rather than a smart hotel: rooms come either with a fan or with air conditioning, and there are enough of them that walking in without a reservation is normally possible, often at a lower rate than booking ahead. Some rooms have no windows. Wi-Fi is available, and there is space on site to park a car or a van.

The family who run the place handle the practical arrangements themselves. They speak some English, and where the language runs short they work through translation on a phone. They can arrange a moto to the Prasat Preah Vihear ticket office for around US$10, with the final stretch up to the temple booked separately at the ticket office for about US$5, and they also organise onward drivers to Siem Reap and Stung Treng.

  • Fan and air-conditioned rooms
  • On-site parking space
  • 10-15 minutes from market
  • Transport to Preah Vihear temple
  • Onward drivers arranged
  • Family-run, walk-ins possible

The area

The guest house is at Srah Emm in Preah Vihear, Cambodia. The market centre of town, with restaurants and stalls, is a 10 to 15 minute walk away, and there is somewhere to eat directly across the street. It works as a base for visiting Prasat Preah Vihear, reached by moto or car from the property.

Good to know

Rooms are usually available on arrival, and walk-in rates are reported as cheaper than booking in advance. Some rooms have no windows, and the showers run cold. Staff English is limited, so arrangements are sometimes made with the help of translation, including moto transport to the Prasat Preah Vihear ticket office at around US$10 and onward drivers to Siem Reap or Stung Treng. Food on site has not always been available.

Large, clean and comfortable room, lovely helpful staff and a nice quiet location. The food across the street was amazing too!

Not a fancy guest house but very nice location and have space for parking area . I'm here for traveling with my customers to see #PreahVihearTemple then over night here. With 8$ twin bed and fan ( not air-conditioning ). Is fine for me just one night. Recommend to all travelers.

Decent clean fan rooms for $6, ac from $11. No windows in the room, but perfect for the price. Don’t book in advance, there are many rooms and walk-in is much cheaper. The staff doesn’t speak English but with some help from Google they managed to arrange transport to Prasat Preah Vihear for me and then later to Siem Reap. Overall very satisfied with the service

Good sized room, AC was 15$ per night. The family were nice, spoke some English and helped to organise driver to Prasat Preah Vihear and onward journey to stung treng. It's about 10-15 min walk to the market centre of town.

8 usd for fan room which was reasonable. Clean rooms, good WiFi, awesome power shower, albeit cold, close to 'town' for market + restaurants. Owner was great and able to organise a moto to Preah vihear for 10 usd. (Bear in mind that is to the ticket office, it's another 5 usd to the temple proper which the ticket office organise). No food available when I was here, but mid covid so that may change!
