The Hotel La Villa is a charmingly furnished boutique hotel located directly on the river. The service was very friendly and charming, as it is almost everywhere in Cambodia. The food in the restaurant's beautiful garden was also excellent, so there was no reason to look for a restaurant elsewhere. The only problem – at least on that night – was loud music from the surrounding area throughout the night. However, the hotel cannot be blamed for this, as it is loud everywhere. Be sure to bring earplugs with you.
We had dinner at the hotel's restaurant. Very good Khmer cuisine and kind and rapid service. I do recommend it.
We did not stay at the hotel but we visited the rooms and loved them. If you, like us, appreciate the charme of art déco, this is the place for you.
Extremely nice garden and swimming pool.
A absolutely beautiful historic home
King of place you would expect to find Hemingway
The suites are very large with beautiful French architecture
Staff are amazing and remember me every year I come
Very nice swimming pool
Excellent location and short walk across bridge to main area of town
I could spend a whole week just in the hotel
For western food a fair selection with reasonable prices and quality ingredients
And a decent Khmer menu as well
Quite location with beautiful river side walkway
My number one choice in Battambang will continue to return every year
And very good wifi for streaming or business
it's in more or less original condition and decorated throughout with vintage objets, mostly vietnamese. rooms very dusty and musty; got the impression they haven't replaced anything since they opened 20 years ago. felt like loire valley 3 stars in the 90s. nice pool. staff was fine but as usual in SEA, refused to confront smokers that were disturbing me– sitting outside my window on the patio to my room on furniture intended for my use. instead they offered to have *me* change rooms from the most expensive option to . . . whatever was available, as if i was the problem. that's a no. restaurant was reliable if a bit overpriced.
Stayed two nights here recently. The staff were lovely and very helpful in all respects. It’s very tired with some dodgy wiring and our room was up some perilously steep steps. We only ate breakfasts which were very average indeed. Location is good and will improve when work is finished opposite by the river and it’s very easy to walk across the bridge into the main part of the town. The real problem about which I suspect the hotel can do nothing is the noise at night from a nearby bar/club. We stayed two midweek nights and the music was blaring really late into the night. It was awful. We did a full day tour of the area which was wonderful and ate at two good restaurants in the town as suggested in latest Rough Guide. Highly recommend you go to the Phare Circus school while there. It was brilliant.
