Am Pe Phnom Resort sits in Kirirom, in Kampong Speu province, about a two-hour drive from Phnom Penh. It is a riverside resort built around a flowing stream, with small huts along the water where guests sit and order food cooked on the spot by local cooks. Dishes include roast chicken, fried beef, soup, beef lok lak and vegetables, and one kitchen at the resort also serves Malaysian food alongside Khmer and Chinese-style cooking.
A suspension bridge crosses the stream and leads to two pagodas on the other side. Crossing the bridge costs 1000 riel, and the ticket covers one trip in one direction, so a return crossing needs a second ticket. Monkeys are often seen around the grounds.
The site also carries a difficult history: it was a killing site during the Khmer Rouge regime, where thousands of Cambodians were killed and left in pits, and a tomb holding the remains of victims stands nea...

The area
The resort is at FG3R+XCW, Krong Chbar Mon, Cambodia, in the Kirirom area of Kampong Speu. It is roughly a two-hour drive from Phnom Penh. A stream runs through the site, with a bridge leading across to two Buddhist pagodas and a tomb containing the bones of Khmer Rouge victims. Monkeys live around the grounds.
Good to know
Crossing the suspension bridge requires a 1000 riel ticket, valid for a single trip in one direction only, so budget for a second ticket to come back. Take care while crossing the bridge, as it sways. Food is ordered at the individual huts and cooked by the local cooks there; one kitchen, run by Mrs. Sokom, is among the last on the right-hand side as you enter the resort.
One of the best resort at KompongSpeu.. we saw a lot of monkeys there. Visiting pagoda, the views at there feeling relax and peace. But before being able to go across the bridge u nees to pay 1000R for that.. and be more careful during going across it.. Enjoy the resort :)
A relaxing area with small hatches where we order food and have it made by the local right along the flowing stream. The food are roast chicken, fried beef, soup and so on. Around 2 hours ride from Phnom Penh. There is a bridge crossing the stream to a Buddhist temple. Am Pe Phnom also has a dark history. It was the place where many people: thousands of Cambodian were massacred and left there in the pits during the Khmer Rouge regime.
Nice resort next to two pagodas and a remarkable tomb with bones of Khmer rouge victims.
don't miss out on Mrs. Sokoms good kitchen at the resort. It's one of the last on your right side when you enter the resort.
