Amazing relaxing clean and affordable place to stay offering private rooms and dorms for very reasonable prices. Also they have a washing machine! Laundry can be done easily and hung out to dry.

Wonderful hotel in a great location. The hospitality is excellent, English speaking. Very clean. AC and hot water. I visited in the low season. The beach was nice sand with cabana to relax in. Hotel in a very quiet jungle environment. Showed my children fireflies their first time on a night walk around the community. Very good value for my family. We will return. Thank you for such a nice stay.

When you are travelling and exploring, this is the place you want to stay at! Like other reviews here, I will also say that the owner, Sibel is very accommodating and is beyond helpful. By Day 2 I felt like I was staying at a good friends place, everything is just very easy and as casual as you like, but they are very attentive with any need; extra towel, another cold beer, you are always looked after. The rooms are very clean and quiet. Sibel even helped arrange a beach side hut next to the ocean for an evening sunset hang.. this was a small thing, but really made the stay that much nicer! Overall, this was a great experience, I will be back! **Her food is really great too, with some standard curry dishes etc, but there is even some Turkish options, which were really great and a nice alternative to typical offerings! I had a number of meals there, but there are also many other food and drink options close by and a mini Mart 2 min away for any other small needs.

This is going to be a long review because I want to be as fair as possible. We arrived at The Cocoon after a long day of driving in June, which is both low season and rainy season in Cambodia. We’ve been travelling across Asia for the past five months, staying at a wide range of accommodations, from high-end resorts to budget guesthouses. The Cocoon fell somewhere in the middle, and we chose it specifically for an air-conditioned room. We were charged $15 USD, which felt reasonable, and were given a room that was mostly clean. There was some lizard poo in the room, but that’s not unheard of. Lizards are everywhere here, and we’ve gotten used to it. However, there was no toilet paper or soap in the room. The owner did quickly bring us both when we asked, but the whole check-in experience gave the impression that the place wasn’t really expecting guests during the low season. The bar and restaurant weren’t operating, likely due to the season. Not a problem for us, we found good food a short walk down the road. The real problem came when we took a nap in the room with the light on. We woke up around 7 PM, after sunset, to find hundreds, if not thousands, of moths had entered the room. They were swarming the ceiling light, covering the floor, and crawling on us. We’re not squeamish about bugs, but this was overwhelming. We figured if we turned off the light they might eventually disperse, but trying to sleep while being crawled on by that many insects wasn’t realistic. It be

Beautiful place in the village. The owner Sibel is lovely, very welcoming, and makes you feel at home. Rooms are spacious and clean with very comfortable beds. Great food and drink selection to choose from. Poker nights are great fun and filled with laughs. Will definitely be returning again.

Cambodian - Cham Halal Food Restaurant

Restaurants 60.8 km 4.0/5 on Google

Cambodian - Cham Halal Food Restaurant is 60.8 km north-west of The Cocoon — a short ride rather than a walk. It is the closest place to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The other place under “restaurants” within reach of The Cocoon is Trapeang Rung Restaurant (61.1 km).

Cambodian - Cham Halal Food Restaurant sits along the road to Koh Kong near Tatai. It serves pre-cooked Khmer dishes kept in pots throughout the day, with a fixed menu that changes seasonally. The setting is casual roadside dining with basic facilities.

Visitors give mixed reports. Several praise the taste of the food and cleanliness, noting fair prices and attentive service. However, other diners felt unwelcome and reported paying significantly more than they would elsewhere in Cambodia for the same dishes, with one guest citing an inflated water bottle charge. Multiple reviewers mention the pre-cooked nature of the dishes as a drawback, noting that food sits in pots for extended periods before serving. The perception of value varies considerably between visitors.

The restaurant operates daily from 7 AM to 9:30 PM, making it accessible for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It works best as a casual stop if you are traveling between Tatai and Koh Kong and want something quick rather than a destination meal. Check prices before ordering if budget is a concern, as visitors have reported inconsistent pricing. The halal certification will matter to some diners, but not to others passing through.

Trapeang Rung Restaurant is 61.1 km north-west of The Cocoon — a short ride rather than a walk.

The other place under “restaurants” within reach of The Cocoon is Cambodian - Cham Halal Food Restaurant (60.8 km).

Trapeang Rung Restaurant is a casual dining spot in Koh Kong village serving Cambodian food throughout the day. The restaurant has a spacious layout with ample parking, and visitors describe the location as reasonably clean. The owner operates the place on a friendly basis, and the kitchen moves orders through quickly.

Most visitors praise the food quality and price point, with several noting the portions and flavour represent good value. However, the menu includes bushmeat, which may concern travellers with wildlife conservation interests — though alternative dishes are available. One visitor reported being overcharged and advised checking portion sizes and confirming prices before ordering, particularly for rice and meat dishes, to avoid paying inflated rates.

The restaurant opens daily from 7 AM to 9 PM, making it accessible for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It suits travellers looking for straightforward local food without formality, and those with their own transport will appreciate the parking. Budget-conscious visitors should clarify pricing upfront to ensure transparent dealings.
