Lucky Star 3

Siso Bakery is 1.2 km south-east of Lucky Star 3 — about 15 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “cafés & bakeries”.

The next two places under “cafés & bakeries” from Lucky Star 3 are Moma Bakehouse & Bistro (2.4 km) and TUBE Coffee Riverside (2.9 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Siso Bakery sits on Street 350 in the BKK1 area of Phnom Penh, a bakery-café built around a display case of carefully finished cakes and pastries alongside a full coffee and drinks menu. The interior draws on a vintage, nostalgic decor in orange and brown tones, with staff in matching uniforms, and it has enough seating to function as a proper sit-down café rather than a grab-and-go counter.

Visitors consistently praise the presentation of the cakes and pastries, singling out the croissants for their buttery aroma and the matcha drinks as well made. The atmosphere and the warmth of the staff come up often, with several people describing it as a calm, cozy escape from the street outside. The recurring caveat is price: cupcakes and specialty drinks are seen by some as expensive for what they are, and one recent visit reported an inconsistent cappuccino and limited options like no plain sugar, only syrup, alongside a redo served in a paper cup. So execution can vary, even if the reputation for good pastries generally holds.

Go for breakfast or a mid-morning coffee, since opening is early at 6:30 AM and it runs through to 7:00 PM daily, which also makes it workable for an afternoon pastry break. Expect it to be busy, as it is one of the better known bakeries in Phnom Penh with limited comparable competition at the same level, so seating can fill up. It suits people looking for a proper coffee-and-cake sit-down rather than the cheapest option in the neighborhood, and those prepared to pay a premium for the setting and presentation.

Xiao Ge Hot Pot is 1.2 km south of Lucky Star 3 — about 15 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from Lucky Star 3 are Ancle Hai Hotpot (1.6 km) and Kinin (2.1 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Xiao Ge Hot Pot is an all-you-can-eat Chinese hot pot buffet in central Phnom Penh where diners cook broths and ingredients at their table. The restaurant operates daily from 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM and seats both individuals and larger groups. The menu centres on a choice of broth bases — collagen soup is complimentary, while tomato, Sichuan, or mushroom broth costs extra. Meat selections include various cuts and meatballs, with vegetables and sausages also available. Soft drinks and ice cream are included, and service dessert is self-serve.

Visitors consistently praise the variety and affordability of the buffet, noting the friendly staff and reasonable pricing around $7.80 per person before broth upgrades. Several regulars report returning without disappointment. However, wait times are a frequent caveat — expect delays during busy periods, both for seating and for meat orders to arrive. Some visitors report slow service in replenishing items on the conveyor belt and one account mentions cleanliness issues including flies and uncleaned tables, though this appears to be an outlier among the broader feedback.

Xiao Ge suits those with flexible schedules who can absorb wait times, particularly groups looking for shared dining at modest cost. Come outside peak hours if you prefer a shorter wait. Note that the restaurant does not provide complimentary water, though soft drinks are included. There are no karaoke rooms on-site if that was a draw.

Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum is 1.5 km south-east of Lucky Star 3 — about 19 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “museums & galleries”.

The next two places under “museums & galleries” from Lucky Star 3 are National Museum of Cambodia (2.7 km) and SOSORO - Preah Srey Içanavarman Museum (2.8 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum occupies the compound of a former Khmer Rouge prison and interrogation center in central Phnom Penh. Visitors move through classroom buildings that once held prisoners, viewing photographs, documents, and personal belongings. The museum preserves the physical space where tens of thousands were detained and interrogated during the late 1970s. The building itself—with its sparse rooms and recording equipment still visible—forms part of the historical record.

Most visitors describe the experience as deeply moving and historically significant. Many emphasize that an audio guide, available for an additional five dollars, substantially enhances the visit by providing context and detailed accounts of individual prisoners' stories. Visitors consistently note the emotional weight of encountering thousands of mugshots displayed on the walls—each photograph representing a person who was numbered and catalogued before execution. Some mention that despite the audio guide's quality, certain details about the violence were not included, which a few visitors felt limited their understanding of what occurred. Occasionally, visitors report meeting survivors on site, a rare opportunity that deepens the experience beyond the museum's physical contents.

The museum is open daily from 8 AM to 5 PM and charges a five dollar entrance fee. Most visitors recommend allowing several hours for a thorough visit, particularly if using the audio guide. This is a site focused on historical education and remembrance rather than entertainment; it suits visitors seeking to understand Cambodia's recent history and those interested in genocide studies and remembrance. Many note the visit is emotionally demanding but consider it an important part of understanding Cambodia's past.

Ancle Hai Hotpot is 1.6 km north-west of Lucky Star 3 — about 21 minutes on foot. It is among the three closest places to the hotel under “restaurants”.

The next two places under “restaurants” from Lucky Star 3 are Xiao Ge Hot Pot (1.2 km) and Kinin (2.1 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

A hotpot restaurant on Street 257 in Phnom Penh, run on a buffet format where diners help themselves to a wide spread of meats, vegetables, dumplings, meatballs and sauces to cook at their own table. The menu is set around a fixed price rather than à la carte ordering, and there is an ice cream machine among the extras, though several visitors mention it is often out of order or not yet ready when they want it.

Guests are consistently positive about the quality of the ingredients, describing the meat and vegetables as fresh and the soup base as flavourful, with the meatballs and dumplings singled out more than once as favourites. The price is repeatedly called affordable for what is included, and the staff are described as friendly and attentive to hygiene. The recurring complaint is about time and crowds: the restaurant gets busy, tables often mean waiting in line, food can arrive slowly once seated, and each sitting is capped at around 90 minutes, which some diners find tight given the wait to get in.

Given the queues, it suits visitors who can go outside peak meal times or who are prepared to wait a little for a table. It is open daily from 11 in the morning to 10 at night, so both lunch and dinner sittings are possible. It works well for groups or friends wanting a casual, self-serve hotpot meal at a reasonable price, but those in a hurry, or hoping for quick table turnover, should factor in the possibility of a line and a slower-than-expected start to the meal.

HighGround Sky Bar is 1.9 km east of Lucky Star 3 — about 23 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “bars”.

The next two places under “bars” from Lucky Star 3 are WIP Zone (2.3 km) and The WATERS Pub and Eatery (2.4 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

HighGround Sky Bar occupies the top of Amass Tower on Street 63 and serves drinks and food with a 360-degree view of Phnom Penh's skyline. The bar operates from 5:00 PM to 2:00 AM daily, making it accessible for evening drinks through to late night. The setting is designed for relaxation, with visitors describing the atmosphere as quiet and comfortable rather than loud or club-like.

Visitors consistently praise the city views, particularly on clear nights when the panorama across Phnom Penh becomes the draw. The drinks receive positive mention across reviews, with at least one visitor calling a cocktail made by staff member Anna the best they'd ever had. Service gets regular compliments, and the bar's staff—including Manager Paul—are noted for professionalism and attentiveness. The food menu appears adequately executed; one visitor noted it looked appealing and tasted good, though another suggested the dishes were pleasant but not standout enough to remember. Prices for food and drinks are described as reasonable. No significant complaints appear in the reviews, though the food is clearly secondary to the drinks and views.

The bar suits visitors wanting a calm evening spot rather than a high-energy night out, and works well for catching up with friends. Clear weather noticeably improves the experience, so checking the forecast before going is worth doing. It's a straightforward choice if you want cocktails and a view rather than a venue focused on nightlife or dining.

LOVE - Phnom Penh is 2.1 km east of Lucky Star 3 — about 26 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “nightlife”.

The next two places under “nightlife” from Lucky Star 3 are TŌKIO CLUB (2.7 km) and Naga World Night Club (3.3 km), so there is a choice within a few minutes.

A late-night club in the Wat Langka area of Phnom Penh, open from 9pm to 4am every night of the week. Inside is a dance floor built for a proper night out, with a mix of international music driving the crowd rather than a quiet lounge setup. It draws a party crowd looking to stay out until sunrise rather than an early-evening drinks spot.

Visitors consistently describe an energetic, packed dance floor and good vibes throughout the night, with several mentioning fair drink prices as a plus rather than a gripe. A recurring theme in the reviews is praise for a particular staff member, Tin Tin, who guests credit repeatedly for making their night memorable, suggesting a level of attentive, personable service that stands out from a typical club experience. No significant complaints appear in the available reviews, though the dance floor being described as busy suggests it can get crowded on popular nights.

This is a late-night destination, not an early or pre-dinner option, so plan to arrive well after 9pm and expect the energy to build as the night goes on, given the 4am close. It suits travellers looking for an international-music dance club with a lively atmosphere rather than a low-key bar. Given the consistent mentions of a crowded dance floor, those who prefer more personal space might find it busiest around peak hours, while groups looking for a high-energy party night in Phnom Penh should find it a solid fit.

Bodia Spa BKK1 Phnom Penh is 2.1 km south-east of Lucky Star 3 — about 26 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “spa & wellness”.

The other place under “spa & wellness” within reach of Lucky Star 3 is BODIA SPA Riverside (2.9 km).

Set across three floors in BKK1, this spa offers private cabins that can host solo visitors or small groups of up to three, each with its own shower and a choice of massage oils. The lobby doubles as a small retail area for bath and wellness products, and the overall design is polished and calm, with staff greeting guests with tea and a foot cleaning before treatments begin.

Reviews are largely consistent in praising the therapists, who are described as attentive and skilled at adjusting pressure during the massage, and the reception staff, who are called warm and caring. Guests repeatedly mention the hot shower and product range afterward as a nice touch, and several note that promotions are sometimes available on certain massages during set daytime hours. Not every visitor is equally impressed: one review found the herbal compress massage pleasant but unremarkable, and felt the pricing was a little steep for what was delivered, while another wished for less oil during the body massage. So expectations should be tuned toward a comfortable, well-run experience rather than something extraordinary every time.

The spa is open daily from 10am to 11pm, which makes it workable for both an afternoon break and an evening wind-down after a day of sightseeing. Booking ahead is worth doing, as at least one guest arranged their appointment the day before and benefited from a time-limited discount. It suits travellers looking for a reliable, attractively designed spa in BKK1 for a massage or short pampering session, though those seeking bargain pricing or an unconventional treatment menu may want to weigh the cost against the fairly standard offerings.

Central Market is 2.1 km north-east of Lucky Star 3 — about 26 minutes on foot. It is the closest place to the hotel under “markets”.

The other place under “markets” within reach of Lucky Star 3 is Trapang Tloeung Market (6.5 km).

The Central Market is a covered marketplace in central Phnom Penh housed in a distinctive Art Deco building with a 26-metre-high central dome and four arching corridors branching diagonally across the block. Built in 1937, it remains a working market where visitors find fresh produce, clothing, toys, jewelry, souvenirs, and services like haircuts and manicures. The layout is expansive and maze-like, with countless stalls crowded into the hallways.

Visitors consistently praise the variety of goods available and the affordability of prices, which remain negotiable. Many note that staff are helpful when shoppers appear lost, and several appreciate the building's distinctive architecture and local atmosphere. However, reviews also flag practical concerns: ventilation is poor and the interior becomes notably warm, many stalls stock similar items, and goods generally lack price tags, requiring haggling. Some visitors find the experience worthwhile primarily for the building itself rather than the shopping.

The market operates daily from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Arrive early if you prefer cooler conditions and smaller crowds. This suits travellers seeking an authentic local market experience and those interested in Art Deco architecture, though it is less ideal if you dislike bargaining or heat. Allow time to navigate the corridors without rushing; a casual wander works better here than targeted shopping, since finding specific items can be difficult.
