We were lucky enough to meet Harry at the VET bus station in Battambang. Hé was fantastic, amazing English that meant he could give us great guiding, stories and advice. I leftt my bag in his tuktuk and he found it and brought it straight back to our hotel. I wish we had stayed at the homestay but we had already paid for the hotel. In case you're wondering, Harry didn't ask for this review. He deserves it.
My two friends and I met Harry when he offered us a ride home from the bat caves after our tuktuk driver left us although he already had other passengers. We decided to go on his tour the next day which was definitely worth it. Unlike many other tours in Battambang, Harry shows you around the non-touristy spots such as the vegetable plantations, where the rice paper is made, and the quieter temples. We got to drive around a local village and really see how life runs outside of the cities. 10/10 recommend his tour we had the best time and Harry is the sweetest and most hardworking man
I booked my stay in Battambang directly with Harry and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. He picked me up from the station himself, which already made everything feel easy and stress-free. The room was spacious and comfortable, and his family was incredibly welcoming.I felt at home from the very first moment.
Make sure you order the Khmer dinner while you’re there, Harry’s sister is an amazing cook. It was one of the best meals I had in Cambodia. For breakfast, I enjoyed a simple but perfect omelette with baguette, plus tea and coffee whilst talking with Harry's father.
I also did a full-day tour with Harry, which I absolutely loved and highly recommend. It’s definitely worth it, so make sure you book that with him as well. Highlights included visiting the place where they make rice paper (don’t leave without ordering the spring rolls!) and experiencing the bamboo train, which is 100% worth doing.
If you have any questions about Battambang or Cambodia in general, just ask Harry, he’s incredibly knowledgeable and always happy to help. I already miss him and his adorable family. I felt completely welcomed and safe, and even if you’re a solo traveller, don’t hesitate to stay here. Highly recommended.
We had a great experience with Harry as our guide. He took us to small, family-run local businesses and gave us a real sense of everyday life. The visit to the bat cave was a highlight, and he shared insightful stories about Cambodia’s history along the way. He also showed us a few hidden spots we would never have discovered on our own. Definitely recommend touring with him!
We (@gus_y_dani) stayed at this homestay during our trip around Asia, which has now been going on for five months, and honestly, it was one of the most beautiful experiences we’ve had so far.
It was the first time in Asia that we felt so comfortable with a local family, almost as if we were at home. The place is run by a lovely elderly couple. The owner is very kind, open-minded, generous, and always happy to talk about anything. Every day he would bring us something: bananas, mangoes, pineapple, or some local food to try. His wife was also wonderful with us; she often cooked something and shared it with us in such a natural and kind way. Best Muslim food!!
The whole family was very welcoming. They have six children, and during our stay we had the chance to meet three of them. Harry organizes tuk-tuk tours, their daughter runs a café on the same street where you can have very good coffee and delicious iced tea, and another son was also very kind to us. Soon we will also meet a fourth son, who has a restaurant in another city that we are planning to visit. It is really beautiful to see such a united, simple, and genuine family.
As for the accommodation, we stayed in the wooden house upstairs and felt very comfortable. There was a good mosquito net, so we never had any problems with mosquitoes or insects at night. We opened the windows, slept with natural air, and rested very well.
During the hottest months, it might be difficult to sleep with only a fan, as they also expla
